A Dutch architectural firm designed these luxury residential high-rises. No one saw a problem with the similarities?

@McGov - Not British, French or Polish, but don`t let that stop you. Whatever the European nations did, so did the US. They could have interceded t any time to stop Hitler, but it suits you to place the blame for his rise on others.
Regardless of supplies, US was a minor player in the actual fighting with Germany, when compared to the rest of the allies.
This doesn`t suit your flag-waving mentality though, so you edit history to suit yourself.
The Russians did more to stop the Germans than US nad Britain combined
Russia was originally on Hitlers side until he betrayed them. It`s another front which we also suppled but you picking what to see now.

As for fighting Germany first that`s wrong anyway from the European perspective that would be Poland. England and France then declared war from that but choose to be pussies and fight a phoney war thinking they would be happy with what they had. You then proceeded to get pushed out of France and into the ocean. Instead of say pushing back on what they took.

Even before Poland you sat and ceded Czechoslovak against the governments wishes and then let them continue to annex more in Hungary.

@Mcgovern - what does any vet have to do with the decision to fight the wars they fought?

`Britian was in it first because you choose to be pussies and allow Hitler to just take over a few more countries and took his word that he would stop there.`

Pussies fight first? Self-serving logic fail.

Complete nonsense, typical little-yanker viewpoint. The Russians did more to stop the Germans than US nad Britain combined.
I`m Irish, what we had in common with the US was neutrality until attacked.
Japan took a swing at you, but it could just as easily have been Britain taking another swing at us.
Hey! maybe is the US had been around centuries ago, we`d be typing something translated along the lines of `be glad your not speaking English`

Take it you`ve never heard of the Korean War a War not over oil in that area that you pretentious snaggel tooth f**ks were also involved in creating it`s borders today which are also a potential war. What does Libia supply the UN with again??

Put another ugly ass cluter f**k on top and it`ll be a stupid looking tree. Seems to me someones trying a publicity stunt.

@morimacil123

That probably has something to do with France wanted to screw the UK more so than ever getting the US started which in turn started their revolution.

@steve41high

Yep it was always about money not people being cooked in ovens try telling that to a vet face to face and see where it gets you. Britian was in it first because you choose to be pussies and allow Hitler to just take over a few more countries and took his word that he would stop there. Without the US supplying you after being betrayed you were f**ked. If it were just about money we would`ve never supplied our future enemies the Soviet Union would we?? European logic...

Why do you care what they are building in Korea. It barely resembles that, and it will not affect your life whatsoever when/if it is built. I for one think it`s kind of stupid and inefficient, because why not just put that part on the ground, but I don`t really care either way.

Wow, you Europeans are touchy, aren`t you? The truth is, there was no way in hell you could have stopped Hitler without us, nor could the South Koreans have stopped the North.

The US has NEVER made a profit on a war. In fact, we have spent $TRILLIONS defending other people`s freedom. Without us carrying 90% of the cost of NATO, your crappy socialist economies would have collapsed decades ago, that is if you weren`t overrun by the Soviets. And the last time I checked, Iraq was selling their f***ing oil to f***ing CHINA!

Maybe next time, we should just stay home, defend our own shores, and if anyone gives us any $#!+, just nuke `em back to the Stone Age.

As far as I`m concerned, all you ungrateful bastards go straight to hell, which is exactly where you`d all be without us.

"Do you speak German? No? You`re welcome."
I love it how this always seems to come up. First of all, it assumes that america single handedly beat the germans, which couldnt be further from the truth. It was called a world war for a reason.

But mostly, it seems to come up most often when americans talk about the french. They feel that since they helped france, they now deserve eternal thanks from france. Few actually seem to remember that without france, america would still be an english colony..
Funny thing is, you dont see the french boasting nearly as much about saving america`s ass than the americans boasting about WW2.

I just can`t believe the hypocrisy of the americans.
The US never ever entered or started a war just to help other people. It ALWAYS was to make more money.

I hate when americans think they saved everyone from oppression and dictatorship. Britain was in there first, USA just waits till it can make even more money out of it

I don`t think it`s a particularly attractive building design, but tying it to the 9/11 tower collapse is a stretch. Being offended by it is just silly.

"Oh no! When looked at a certain way and with certain preconceptions it vaguely resembles a brief moment of a tragic event in a totally different country! Why would we ever want to remember that!?!" Ugh.

Next thing you know people will complain about any new structure that has two tall buildings together. Please, world, let`s move on!

I can see the resemblance....I guess.
I stopped thinking about 9/11 the day that those 3000 deaths were used as an excuse to cause 3/4 million more overseas (american and foreign alike).

Oh, I don`t know...maybe because tens of thousands of Americans died so they don`t have to live under murderous oppressive dictatorships? Unless, or course that`s not a big deal to them...

@GhettoNinja - I don`t know much about earthquakes since my area doesn`t get them at all, but from what I know South Korea only gets really small earthquakes, so is that really the case? I`m having trouble even finding info about their earthquakes but someone said the largest one since 1978 was 3.0 magnitude, another said they`ve experienced a 4.8 magnitude "recently". I don`t really know what that means though other than they aren`t that strong.

I don`t see how this is comparable to 9/11 and the towers being hit.

Even if that was the designers intentions, it would be such a pathetic attempt at glorifying that act.

Seriously, why care? The first earthquake in that region will take out that poorly designed mess anyway.

You already killed the guy responsible, its ok to be butthurt about your government that is literally screwing you up the ass. As long as there is an `enemy` to fight it will take your oh so short attention spans away from a country that is crumbling beneath you and claim you are still the `best` country in the world. Go get some prescription pills for your delusions if you can afford them from your insane health system.

It`s interesting. Wouldn`t go as far to say that it is pleasant to look at though. Just looks like the architect gave his 3 year old some legos and just build whatever came out of it.

Also, only Americans would make a link to something like this. Grow up you babies, it was over a decade ago.

"along with it being totally tasteless."

To Americans.

It might surprise you to learn that most of the rest of the world doesn`t spend all its time mourning *your* tragedies.

Not everything is about you.

That whole `cloud` design feature is highly inefficient, un-aerodynamic, ugly, and would be way to expensive to build, along with it being totally tasteless.

I wonder if they designed this just to get media attention, if so, they are assh*les.
The designers of the towers, Dutch architectural firm MVRDV, have responded to the controversy by quickly publishing an apology in English. "It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks," the designers insist, "nor did we see the resemblance during the design process."

They did not see the resemblance during the design process? The problem with this assertion - apart from its inherent implausibility - is that they have admitted the contrary in Dutch. Thus Jan Knikker of MVRDV told the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, "I have to admit that we also thought of the 9/11 attacks."
If they ever build this monstrosity, I hope somebody blows it to hell (before it is ever occupied, of course).

@honkeylips: That`s not what the "Euros" are saying here at all.

It`s stupid and far-fetched to think that a building in Seoul has anything to do with the Twin Towers, only because the design looks just a tiny bit like a collapsing Twin Tower. Not everything in the world is about you, USA.

I would have to second that. Pretty sick of anything with a similarity to something extreme that happened becoming some kind of instant comparison to said event. It gets old fast.
