He wouldn`t object to that, indeed he called himself an antitheist on several occasions.

He was like the BBC...the British accent seemed to legitimize everything that he said. He was definitely a smart guy, but it didnt take much reading/listening to him, for me, to come to the conclusion he was much more an anti-theist than an atheist. Rather than talk about atheism, he mostly bashed theists, and i found that too arrogant and negative....

@iceblack if your religion in your profile says "atheist" why do you say "see you in hell" seeing as how atheists don`t believe in hell.....? lol

oh come on, comparing Hitchens with Sagan and Feynman? No. I`m an atheist, and I know a lot about Hitchens, but he wasn`t that great.

Sorry for his family, sorry for their loss, but he wasn`t all that great in my book.

It`s cold, cloudy, gray and haven`t seen the sun for almost a week. Just in an ignorant mood.

@ SCfan: I`m a little stunned by your comment.

You admit that you don`t know anything about him, then follow that up with "another dead atheist".

A great mind has passed on. You are unaware of what you missed. Even money says you`ve read articles by him, and probably agreed with some of what he said.

Your comment was ignorant. I expect rote Christian dogma from you, but seriously? You must be having a bad day... you usually don`t get pissy without a good reason.

i just had this thought when i was reading how he died, he died of cancer/pneumonia, that`s how Carl Sagan died, it`s also how Richard Feynman died.

He`ll go down with the other greats, dead, but never truly gone. He was a phenomenal influence and a warrior against ignorance. I hope his reason and logic rubbed off enough on our generations.

holy hell i am crushed. i just discovered him about 6 months ago and he has changed my entire veiw of life for the better. Discovering him only to find out he was terminally ill, would be like finding your father you never knew, only to see him pass a few weeks later.

Are we meant to be impressed by your ignorance? Is it your best feature? Your proudest achievement? OK, well done you.

So sad, such a joy to listen to, clever, witty, and a real loss.
