fghj, he stopped drawing Calvin and Hobbes at the end of 1995 with a statement to newspaper editors and his readers that he felt he had achieved all he could in the comic strip medium. So not dead but still missed.

@collegebound If you don`t remember, some of the comic strips in Calvin and HObbes, they made those exact snowmen. His parents commenting at how it slowed traffic at least

You know you love Calvin and Hobbes when you can remember the dialogue from the strips these snowmen appeared in.

Q: What is Spaceman Spiff`s motto?
A: Another day, another mind boggling adventure!

I`ve had a Calvin tattoo for 20 years, and I`m still not ashamed. I still read the books and laugh out loud.

Bill Watterson is the greatest cartoonist of all time, in my view.. His characterisation and empathy shines through in every panel... I own `The Complete Calvin & Hobbes` and it shares a treasured space on my bookshelf, right up there with the complete works of Nietzsche and Camus...
Watterson isn`t a god, but he ought to be...
