Listen to a song like `Sometimes` by Blink 182 and tell me that isn`t punk.

Pffft, whatever. drat elitists. You`d think a group of people who feel like they`re outsiders would be more open to variety and people doing their own thing - guess not. Elitist punks and metalheads can go drat themselves for all I care.

I`ll skate and listen to Blink182 all I want. If people don`t like it, drat em`. Or is that not `punk` enough?

I can`t figure out which one is the 80`s guy and which on is the 2011 guy! Blink 182 was popular in the late 90`s! And I grew up in the 80`s and couldn`t tell you one Black Flag song! This was a fail!

"People that consider themselves "Skaters" don`t consider long boards a type of skateboard, as there is little skill involved."

There is a lot of skill in longboard skating.

I think subcultures are interesting, but I`d never join one...when I`m 40 I don`t want to compete with kids about being cool.

ok instead of trying to decide which ones 1980s and which ones 2011 can we just agree that the poster got the date wrong?

There`s some real crap appearing on this site lately. I think some purging of incompetence is in order.

"Blink 182 existed in the 1980s?"

I thought the same thing when I first thought this on fb.

The caption should read 80`s skater vs. 90`s skater because Blink 182 has not been popular since 1998... well not outside of dreamworks movies and bad family comedies

@Mikeado: The one on the left is the 2011 Skate Punk.

@ivran: Well the first skaters were surfers. Skateboarding started as a way to "surf" when the waves weren`t high, hence the term "surfing the concrete wave".

For those confused by the right guy`s board, it`s a long board. It`s a board with big wheels meant only for riding from point A to point B. People that consider themselves "Skaters" don`t consider long boards a type of skateboard, as there is little skill involved.

If the band affiliation didn`t make it clear enough, the 2011 skater is on the left and the 1980`s skater is on the right.Even back in the 80`s, the punk skater sect was just a sect of skaters in general, and the majority of skaters weren`t wearing skin-tight jeans. They wore jeans that fit. In the 90`s, loose jeans became a trend. This is a cartoon. Cartoons lack detail and over-dramatize features. The artist probably didn`t mean to stick emo jean nut-huggers on the 80`s skater. Skinny legs may just be part of the artists usual character repertoire.

"I don`t get it."

The one on the left is supposed to be the present day skate punk (who is a blink182 fan..?), and the one from the 80`s is basically saying than no, blink182 are not punk-rock. Which is true. As for the rest of it idk. That thing that looks like a surf board with wheels is most confusing for me.

It`s horrific that `skaters` nowadays wear skinny jeans. I`m not even 24 and I think that.

When I used to skate, nobody would wear skintight cloths or anything.. It was old airwalks and F`ed up Jnco`s.. Now when I see kids out skating, they have on these jeans that look like spandex. I really don`t see how these kids skate in nut huggers like they do..

ok wait hang on, that is supposed to be the 2011 skater punk, which means he did still build a time machine, only he travelled back to the 90`s, not forward. i get it now.

erm...so many confusing things here, mainly the fact that the 1980`s `skate punker` has managed to build a time machine, travel forward to the 90`s and become a blink182 fan.

Lame post is lame.

I`m fairly certain no one would have been wearing a Blink182 shirt in the 80s... I can`t take anything else about this picture seriously now.
