Hah satan and his army of darkness. I long for the day christianity and religion in general is treated just like we treat all other schizophrenic delusions

I don`t hate christians, in fact I`m kind of glad they`re around. Always cheers me up reading about the completely illogical crap the majority do/say/believe.

Easy, just change church.
There`s about 10 in a 5 block radius from my house(including one adjacent to a stripclub, go figure).

And this is why I don`t believe in organized religion and refuse to sign any papers from anyone.

They are lying through there teeth to ensure that they get their weekly 10% of your pay. Jesus never said to punish anyone for anything. He said to love them no matter what.

It`s douches like these that give real Christians a bad name.

We are called to die for Jesus, not to kill. We are called to love everyone, not to hate anyone. The church means "to be called out" as in a town square where everyone can see and witness what was said, not a building in which we hide our actions to the world.

I don`t think there is anything at all "typical" about this pastor`s views. Besides, it`s better than the "typical" beheading or stoning you`d receive if you fell away from Islam.

I`m just going to throw this out there. 1 We don`t know the other half of this situation. 2 No one is perfect and all fall short of the glory of God. 3 We are suppose to encourage, help, and discipline each other in the church, because it is how we try to avoid sin, God hates sin --not people--. 4 This pastor may have removed this person from his church, BUT Jesus` arms are still open for people to go to him. 5 no one is mentioning how the person that this letter is supposedly to really never showed up and therefore question their sincerity? 6 As Jesus said work on the plank in your own eye FIRST before helping another, so that`s what I will try to do and the Holy Spirit will guide me showing right from wrong. Please don`t hate Christians, we all are capable of the same actions and behaviors.

@TKD_Master, "I don`t think you understand what a christian really is. Basically, an ignorant self-righteous douchebag. The more I see of them, the more I understand the christian persecution in Japan back in the day."

That`s a very naive statement TKD. There are "self-righteous douchebag`s" from every walk of life, to label all Christians as such would indicate that you are yourself a "self-righteous douchebag". I`m an Atheist born and raised in the bible belt and I can tell you from experience that there are a lot of great people that call themselves Christians.

Regardless of the denomination this is deplorable. Apparently they (like a lot of Christians) only read parts of the Bible that they feel apply to a situation.

To clarify the church shortcomings:
Church like baptism is never required to become or stay a Christian. They are both encouraged, but never required.

@CaptKangaroo - Two things. Okay I may have jumped the gun due to the ridiculousness of the letter and the apparent lack of address or telephone number or even seal that usually accompanies such letterhead. I would however like to know EXACTLY how you verified and authenticated the letter as actually real other than finding out that there is a questionable person by this name who is a pastor. Show me the proof you found on the internet that makes it a fact other than heresay. Secondly, there is your bigoted and ignorant response towards myself. I am not at all a christian but I guess you didn`t check your facts there. So in your words you should take a little time and effort to actually know what you are talking about lest you be the fool, which in this case you are.

He did them a favour. Some religions will drag you back kicking and screaming and then brainwash you into submission. He just tries to use a major guilt trick and fear of damnation. If you`re an atheist and start praying to imaginary friends, other atheists will just shrug and at worst consider you somewhat delusional.

I thought only the Mormons excommunicate people. This doesn`t seam real. If it is hurray for fear tactics!

If I was ever to become religious the first question I would ask a potential church leader is do you use scare tactics to recruit or keep your flock? If the answer was yes I would keep on looking. If a church has to use scare tactics it is a big red flag that they are corrupt and not following the ways of Christ.

I don`t see anything wrong with that letter. I`m more offended by the description. The letter was polite, not filled with rage. A person broke the rules of a group they chose to join and the leader of the group expelled them from it.

The threats and manipulation are an inherent part of Christianity (as they are with most religions) because fear is fundamentally part of the religion and can`t really be removed from it.

Sounds more like Mormon stuff. Christian churches don`t recognize their body as being saved. Just because you`re in a church doesn`t mean you go to heaven, and Christian churches often acknowledge this.

If that pastor kicked people out of his church for being sinners then the attendance there would be 0.And really? "Typical Judgmental Christian Filled With Rage" thats one Prejudice damn title you bigot. And yea lets judge a whole religious group by the actions of a few morons that doesnt start wars or anything right? If you judge a whole group by the actions of a few then you support hatred... bottom line hatred is what kills not guns not nukes not religions people kill people not ideas.

I really hate hypo-christians. They are always going on about if you change you can still be saved and that no one can tell you what religion you have to be. Excommunication is completely unchristian in every way.

I love how a church organization thinks it has the right to "declare" someone christian or not. I think what they really mean to say is that they as an organization refuse to acknowledge this person as a christian because that is really the only thing they can actually do about it LOL!

Ya thats right. One group of people identified with a demographic was overly judgemental and that means that all of those dirty members of that demographic deserve the very judgment which they are commiting! Look im all for bashing people for doing stupid things intentionally but this is a small group of christindom not the entire religion. Plus if the pastor (a proffesional) decides that the text that runs his religion it holds weight. Now it can be challenge ya but we cant write him off as an idiot when he makes his living from reading a book. Now if we find a problem with it there`s two thing (that are sensical) that you can do. Use his own book against him (that would take actually reading the damn thing) or using outside sources to disable the premise of his argument (which would take research).

TKD Master, that`s pretty rude man...I`m a Christian and personally reading this letter I wouldn`t consider that Pastor a Christian. And I`m betting the person that got this letter realized that very quickly and that`s why the didn`t continue to attend that church.

I appreciate your post. Gives the rest of us some hope that not all Christians are like Pastor Shade here.

It`s nice to see somebody who actually read up on what they were talking about, as opposed to crying, screaming, and flailing around on the keyboard.

WTF?! These azzholes are screwed up, NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR SALVATION.

Ephesians 1:13 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

John 10:28 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

We are saved because of Christ`s merits, not our own, otherwise Jesus` death didn`t pay for all our sins past present and future and that`s a lie.

Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost".

Do not let anyone tell you, if you are saved, that you are "going to hell", "losing your religion", or "losing your salvation" That`s a bunch of cultist bullsh|t.

The term Christian is too loosely used in today`s society. There are so many sects of Christianity today that for some the only issue they could agree on is the fact that they worship Jesus Christ. Some are fanatical, some are more easy going. Some fail to realize that Jesus actually had a sense of humor, and others take the "body and blood" metaphor just a bit too seriously.

Case & point, don`t let a few of them spoil it for you. Christianity is so diverse it should be its own race... like Jews...

@Aragnarok- in less than 2 minutes, I was able to research not only this particular church, but the pastor, his issues within his church- located in Carbondale, Ill.- and his removal(In 1999), but verified that this letter is not, in fact a fake.
Taking a little time and effort to actually know what you`re talking about, goes a long way to keep from looking the fool. But then, I`m guessing you`re a Christian, and therefore facts are not high on your list.

@RyanF701 Christianity in its true form has always been about hate, bigotry, and just being generally condescending and rude to all non-Christians. Those are the Christians who are, like I said, listening to their books and doing it right. Religion in all forms is a plague upon society.

This is not what Christians believe. This is the sadly incorrect letter from a misguided pastor. True Christians do not excommunicate people because God does not excommunicate people.

And what is this "handing you over to Satan" stuff? That there is saying that he has the authority to render null someone`s salvation. That is, he is calling himself God. Blashphemy, if I`m not mistaken, is a pretty big sin. I can see why the addressee stopped attending this church!

"
This is what Christians actually believe. So? It`s a cult, always has been and always will be."

The only thing I can`t stand more than religious bigots is bigots who have no idea what they`re talking about when they`re bashing religion. Educate yourself before throwing up stupidity onto the internet, thanks.

"
By the way, this is how ACTUAL Christians can and SHOULD act. See how he`s actually quoting his book? Yeah... Christians are @$$Holes, but this guy is actually doing it right."

So, quoting a book written BY Christians FOR Christians makes them right? That`s called circular logic.

Actually, if you bother to check the references, neither of them mention excommunication or giving someone to Satan. Matthew says to treat him(King James Version) "17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican."

First, "Pastor Shade" is a cool name. Is he a rapper?

Second - total description fail. I see a politely worded religious "dear john" letter. not the "CHRISTIAN RAGE" described.

Now I am all for some good old fashioned religion bashing, but let`s at least have a kernel of truth to pick on.

My two favorite parts are:

In obedience to his command, we are handing you over to Satan and his kingdom of darkness, in hopes that you will come to your senses, repent, and return.

Fear mongering at it`s finest.

By this excommunication, we are declaring that you are no longer a Christian.

This is so funny on so many levels, i`m a Atheist but to think you can take someones faith away from them with a line of text.

Come on, people. It`s posted here because it`s so ridiculously out of line that it borders on the funny and absurd. Everyone - atheists and theists - know this isn`t how normal Christians are supposed to act so how can you say it`s inciting hatred or trolling?

Shake your head, laugh at the absurdity of some people, and move on - just like the "Parent of the Year" posts. Becoming defensive - or offensive - about it just creates the very trolling and hatred you`re claiming to want to avoid.
