The greatest impact religion has had on society as a whole, is causing more death than any disease ever will, and over a century of hindering scientific progress, because knowledge is evil. The only thing religion offers is a belief that if you have faith in a cruel deity, that your soul will find peace when you die. Being a good person, a strong person a productive member of society... if you need a book to tell you that you`ll burn in hell to shape you into a decent human being, I feel bad for you.

it`s not proven that thomas jefferson had sex with with slaves. there`s a high possibility it was his brother.

@ ccalhoun86 kindness, joy, and faith, while in horrible situations, is a wonderful sign. the world and all the natural great things, man and his works. all are signs to who really want to see. what stops you from believing?

My three would be Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, and Hitler... just so I could watch two of the greatest martial artists of all time beat hitler to death. Make it a pay per view, and America`s debt problems would be over.

Flea, I think thats a bit... of a sweeping statement.

I`m a relatively nice person. I don`t believe in a personal higher deity. I don`t see how the two are in any way shape or form related.

God does not exist. God is a superstition. Prove me wrong.

simbha - E.O. Wilson? Are you serious? What did THAT guy ever do? Name one big discovery he made. Name one important theory he came up with. Philosophical meanderings on sociology don`t amount to squat, and that pretty much sums up his whole career.

Must. Hold. Back. Pessimism. But can`t. Too strong.

*ugh*

We`re all doomed.

There is not much truth in this video. Jefferson would be ticked off about what is going on nowadays. However, alot of this is either only partly true or the means are incorrect on why we have the ends.

Oops. I wasn`t specific about my choice of scientist. Hmm...

E.O. Wilson`s not dead, so I guess I`ll turn my attention back to physical scientists. I think my choice here would be James Clerk Maxwell, as I think his accomplishments were greater than Einstein`s.

I don`t believe we yet understand the underlying methods - and their implications for the whole of physics - employed by Maxwell.

Ugh, then there`s (in the more recent lot): Planck and Bohr and... sheesh. I told you I couldn`t pick three...
If i could bring 3 people back from the dead, it would be Carl Sagan, Einstein, and Richard Feynman
To each his own, but I certainly wouldn`t have three physical scientists on my list.

I find it difficult to narrow my list to three people, but I think I`d have - at most - one scientist... and probably a social thinker (maybe Boas) and an artist (possibly Picasso).
