Actually it`s been tried, and it has always failed miserably. That`s why our Founding Fathers decided on a constitutional republic instead.

@ctobin: prahaha! Your`e funny. I am Norwegian, and last time i checked, our pension fund is one of the largest funds in the world, Norway has been nr. 1 ranked country in the world to live in, the economy is booming here, we have a record low unemployment rate, but last and NOT least:

We have politicians who answer to the people, elected by the people, with independent legislative power. We have actual freedom of speech, the rich pay taxes as well as the workers and everyone has sufficient health care. If you want to call it an experiment that has failed, it`s your choise.

I call it democracy. You should try it.

@ctobin34; sorry If I appeared to be having a go at the American Economy; that honestly wasn`t my intention. I agree, it`s a global problem, and the UK and Europe isn`t in much of a better state than the US. All I`m wondering is why so many people are against OWS; it`s as if there are people out there who are happy with corporations running the country and a minority becoming disgustingly rich at the expense of the middle/working class. I thought we had/were trying to move on from that.

@Draculya I don`t like Fox either, but don`t pretend that the other major news stations are any better. They`re not. They just agree with your views more so you don`t notice.

Yeah I don`t know what you`ve been told, but up here in Canada we`re doing pretty good economically. Heck, our dollar has been wavering above yours from time to time. I would say something like, "You should try fixing your failed capitalist experiement before assuming the economy above you is a failed socialist experiment" but that would make me an American.

Why does anyone still watch Focks? All I ever see of Fux these days is illustrations of how bed they have become at impartial and ethical newsmaking.

If their group`s performance in the uK is anythign to go by, I`d bet they have been paying people to spy on US politicians and entertainment figures and the family of victims of crime.

The US was founded on non-religious rule and as a big `drat you` to the royalty...

@ctobin34
Last I checked the economy up here in `Socialist` Canada was doing better than yours.

@mal BB & Student Law. I find it hilarious that you two clowns have the audacity to critique the American economy while Europe`s financial well being is spiraling down the crapper. First go fix your failed socialist experiment, then come talk to me

Dissidents have no place in a democratic society. The medias role is first and foremost to protect property and finaces owners. Remember, our constitutions are based on ideals like religious rule, barons with castles running all the corn fields; and the fact that pesants are unfit to rule makes it perfectly logical to undermine any legislative power coming from farmers. Only men who own land and has his own pesants working the fields know how to rule a country anyway. It`s natural that their vote is the only one who counts.

Labour unions are being dissolved in the US. Corporate lobbyists have actual veto power in the parliament, and they are actively using it. Police are being openly paid off. Even Berlusconi tried to hide his 5hit. Politically speaking, the USA is back to the late 1700`s. These people are only trying to say something about it. That`s all they are doing.

The main argument of those against OWS seems to be along the lines of `I will work harder`. Have you not read animal farm? More people getting low paid work isn`t necessarily going to help the economy. Economic issues have been ongoing for decades, and are not caused by a handful (relatively speaking) of unemployed people. OWS protesters do have demands; they just don`t get the press coverage they need to enable these demands be heard. When we`re all old, our kids are going to be asking us some serious questions about how we let things get as bad as they are/will be. What are we gonna say to them? That it was the governments fault? That it was out of our hands?

It baffles me how these OWS retards expect their demands to be met if they don`t actually have any clear demands. If they put as much effort into finding work as they do into sleeping surrounded by their own pish and s-hite then they might get a job and actually HELP the economy, instead of hindering it by leaching on unemployment and wasting police resources with pointless protests.

I just don`t understand why some people (who aren`t affiliated with the `1%`) are so against the principles of OWS. I mean, what principles do they stand for which you don`t agree with?? The type of issues they are protesting against are exactly the type of issues which could lead to a 1984 scenario.

News is supposed to follow the standards of journalism (truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness and public accountability). Because they rarely follow the standards of journalism MSNBC and Fox News are not news sources. They both heavily use sensationalism which is a type of editorial bias. They both also use proof by assertion to brainwash their followers into becoming angry parrots.

Wow, what a short-sighted, self-centered bunch in here.

Just because the OWS protesters are no longer "novel" does not mean the message they are trying to get across is less valid. Do you see anything changing? Not yet. It took the Civil Rights movement YEARS to get results.

You who are against them are reacting like a 3 year old who wants a new toy.

Grow up. Do some actual research instead of jerking your knee. If you don`t, antagonizer is right, you absolutely deserve what you get.

Trouble is, I don`t, and I am tired of your apathy and childish behavior dragging the country down..

Anyone who is thinking "good riddance" is proof that the corporations are winning. They`re the ones who own the news stations--of COURSE they`re going to make it look like this is just a bunch of lazy good for nothing hippies..

@tatripp wouldn`t they have to pay for their medical problems anyways :/
I don`t know- I support OWS; I believe they`re highlighting things about politics and the economy which need to be changed. However, if public health becomes an issue then probably coming back day after day is a better option than actually building a shanty town...

@bacon_pie "I`m part of the 99% who gives a dookey less about 99%."

Then you deserve all the corporate cornholing you`re getting/will get if the movement fails.

Oh right, the entire country? I guess you represent the entire country eh? Oh and you`re from Europe, wow, so nice to have a European representative on these boards.

Tell me oh wise one... what I think of your stated assertions?

If you said, tedgp is an egotistical hole of a being, then you would be right.
