I don`t "own" my devices, do you even hear what you`re saying? I don`t see anywhere anyhow apple could do anything to stop me from doing whatever I want from my devices, any more than microsoft or google would.

Just because I`m a scientist doesn`t mean I know jack sh*t? Society begs to differ, that`s why they pay me to generate more knowledge. Let alone about computers? Not necessarily, except I work specifically with computers.

Sorry man, but your apple hate is keeping you from some great devices. As I said before, the minute someone comes up with something better I`ll move from apple. Right now, and just right now, they have the best stuff around.

Well *I* think Jimi Hendrix is a better guitar player than Eddie Van Halen.
No one cares if your an apple fanboy/fangirl or whatever. As long as you enjoy the product you bought.
I DO care, because of dollar democracy. Companies want money, so it makes sense to follow the examples of those that are making money.

This video alone made a comment about Apple being considered the largest technology company in the world. Clearly they make money, because people are buying their products.

Now, if they`re making money, what`s stopping the other companies that want to make money from following their example?

See where it all goes wrong here? Apple`s business model starts spreading around like a disease, because apparently it works, and suddenly you can`t get a decent computer for a decent price anymore. It`s all over-priced crap with a specially beveled logo.

Thank the Geek Gods companies like Google are around to counter Apple`s example.

Okay well this whole conversation is just stupid. First off. Having flash on your mobile device does not drain battery unless you are viewing something that uses flash and or playing a flash based game. Second. I have owned a lot of brands of laptops as well. And while the macs worked well. They did not do what i needed them too. Third. Android based phones are closing in on ios based phones very quickly. And my last thing to point out. Apple has continually tried to make it illegal to modify/jailbreak the devices and has been denied in court every time, the verdict is always that people can do what they want with the products they buy unless it causes harm or is stealing a paid service. I have nothing against apple products. Steve jobs did amazing things for technology. So why cant you children just like the crap you like and shut up. No one cares if your an apple fanboy/fangirl or whatever. As long as you enjoy the product you bought.
At least it doesn`t brick itself with a certified update.
As for this, even your article states that MOST users had no issues.

Only a small number (and trust me, it`s probably a lot smaller than it might seem considering how the internet makes vocal minorities seem louder) were bricked, and it was accidental.

BIG difference from deliberately bricking people`s devices because they decided to use the device how THEY, THE INDIVIDUAL WHO PAID FOR THE DEVICE wanted to, rather than how the company wanted them to.

Even you admit that you`ve had to reset your iPhone, and looking around, that fixed the issue on most of the Droids that had problems.

Just because you`re a scientist doesn`t mean you know jack sh*t, let alone about computers.
You just reset it to factory settings and start using it again. Huh, that sounds like owning to me (yes, I owned you)
Which means resetting it... Back to how THEY WANT YOU TO USE IT.

In other words, you`re STILL only allowed to use your phone/computer/device how they want you to. Huh, doesn`t sound like owning it to me.

In fact, I see no owning going on here at all, considering that you don`t even own your computer, let alone owning me.

you know what LazyMe484? I won`t bother to answer anything else you post here. It`s like arguing with a creationist, no matter how I`ve proven my point you just resort to "apple is dumb and you`re a fanboy cuz you own something from them".

At whatever you have to say from now on my response is:

@LazyMe484

Yeah, fanboyism is a cruel fate for those who hate apple just for what they`ve read or heard, instead of actually using one and making their own opinion.

As I explained to you before, I went through 4 laptops (and 3 windows towers) before switching to mac. But I guess to you that is "didn`t try anything before just throwing money at the shiniest rock"

Yeah, I guess "I" am the one who didn`t bother trying anything else.

I have a theory to run by YOU now, how about clicking in my profile and seeing that I list myself (and my wife) as scientists? You know what that means? I have a degree that deems me qualified to do Science in the eyes of society. Moreover, I do computational simulations for mathematical models of nature.

Yeah, I guess "I" don`t know how to use a computer, and certainly haven`t used Mac, Linux and Windows for anything other than gaming.

How about next time you actually think be

Sorry it lost me at 2:30 when it pitched flash based video. I`d rather not have flash on my mobile devices, it drains batteries like a electric vampire.

@jendrian Fanboyism is a cruel fate. I makes you prone to all kinds of fallacies...

Like admitting that you don`t know everything when it`s quite obvious you don`t know what you`re talking about.

I have a theory to run past you...

You bought into apple for the same reason everyone else does, because they can`t be bothered to look at all their options or learn about how things actually work and so they say "f*ck it, I have too much money anyway".

It should be obvious from any perspective that apple is built on simplicity and for those that can`t be bothered with the details, those who`s technological demands are modest or those who can`t be bothered to learn how to use a computer. ... and for all this you pay a premium. In some cases a big one, on the order of 400%.

But who cares? It`s all pretty and shiny! Not only that but it appears highly functional in all its limited capacity.

Never owned an Apple product, probably never will. Unless someone gives me one for free, even than I may refuse it. Hasn`t made a lick of difference in my life, I like my PC games, so I`m going stick with a PC.

apple = brand = marketing

the nuts and bolts manufacturing stuff being highlighted here is the same for every device manufacturer the world over.

Yes, you can have a pop at apple but you could also have a pop at everyone else.

$14000 sounds like bullpoo to me

I don`t think suicided is a word either.

Keeping flash off IOS a bad thing a doubt it.

I will knock apple as much as the next man but this is Michael Moore class, one sidedness

"think different"...

that is Apple`s motto and yet by this Jobs actually meant THINK LIKE ME. This is evident by the fact that Jobs did not allow his products to be customized, open or changed at all by the OWNER.

Jobs never wrote a single line of code in his life.

Jobs would not admit that a child that turned out to be his, that he knew was his until 2000, well after the child was born.

Jobs never invented a damn thing. he took exxisiting tech and convienced weak minded fools that apple invented and it was the best thing ever...when in fact there are better cheaper products on the market.

if you are an apple fan you are the same sort of moron that buys a BMW knowing full well they break down all the time and are not worth the money...and yet all that matters is that pricey little logo you get to show off to others.

Yeah jobs thought different, he thought you were all morons and he was right about quite a few of you.

How to reset your iPhone after Bricking yes I`ve done it before.

At least it doesn`t brick itself with a certified update. THAT is what I mean by stupid and flawed.

oh yeah, they`ll "brick it" and then there`s no possible way you could... oh wait, there is. You just reset it to factory settings and start using it again. Huh, that sounds like owning to me (yes, I owned you)
Sure they`re not perfect and they will break, but these products are not as stupid and flawed as the rest.
Yes, they actually are.

The difference is that since Apple doesn`t let people USE the technology, people don`t find all the flaws.

You don`t own a single Apple product in your possession. If you do ANYTHING they don`t want you to with it, they can (and WILL) brick it.

By comparison, the others actually let you OWN the product, which means stupid people will break it. (Yes, I`m calling you stupid.)

It`s (kinda) like owning a house versus renting an apartment. If something goes wrong in the apartment, it`ll be fixed by the landlord but if it`s your fault, or if you`re done something the landlord doesn`t like, you`ll probably be kicked out. If something goes wrong in the house, you have to fix it, but at least it`s YOUR house, not someone else`s house you`re just living in.

well the caption says: "Quick rundown on how Apple changed the world"

And I think you`re wrong, they may have the same specs, but the Mac OS uses the resources better than windows (though not as well as a fine tuned linux box) because Apple`s philosophy is that of making a hardware+software integrated solution.

I am far more productive using Apple`s products than I used to be before I switched, and although I do have complains about Apple and its products, I still like them because my past experience with them is a good one, as opposed to you know, "the rest"

@jendrian
Apple didn`t change the world so why should it? If you paid any attention to computers you would of noticed that their products aren`t original and cost considerably more than the competition while providing no more than the same specs. All Apple does well is they`ll replace ANYTHING that breaks but that`s only because they already charged you so much for it. They didn`t even invent putting out a slightly better version of a device every couple months and convincing people you need this new one even more. You can thank the Japanese for that.

@LazyMe484

"The Rest" as understood by pretty much everybody else would be "the rest of laptops" that are not made from apple, and I have tried, have resulted in poorer quality.

"The rest" of music players, that have lesser quality in both design and usability.

"The rest" of phones, etc.

Growing MacBook/iPod/iPhone sales should let you know that I`m not alone in saying that these products are better than the rest. And yes, they are stupid and flawed, and I am stupid and flawed too, but apparently not as much as you.

The rest? You mean *everything* else?

Excuse me, but it almost looks like that, according to you, everything that isn`t from apple is stupid and flawed. Maybe you should lump yourself in with "the rest".

When can we go back to hating Michael Jackson?

Apple Products - For the people that want toys.
Everything Else (eg. Tablets) - For the people that need it for actual productivity.

whatever, my Macbook Pro albeit overpriced no question, is still more durable and far more enjoyable than any other laptop I`ve ever owned (5 in total by now, by Compaq, Lenovo and HP before my first iBook from Apple).

After trying cheaper "better" alternatives to the iPod from several other manufacturers, I tried an iPod Touch and stayed there for years until I decided to replace the myriad of pooty phones I had for an iPhone.

Apple simply lured me to its products by making them actually functional, if only half crippled, not completely stupid like most other vendors. I payed the premium for what seems like a much better product, and I`m happier with them.

Sure they`re not perfect and they will break, but these products are not as stupid and flawed as the rest.

And now that they have no dictator, they have nothing.

I`m gonna enjoy watching them crash and burn.

Already more than one of my friend`s Apple products have broke since Jobs died. Like I told them, even the products themselves have realized that, without Jobs, Apple has nothing, and they`re offing themselves before things go to hell.

Interesting, obviously not the only unethical company out there but I would imagine most apple fans choose to ignore this aspect of the company or are completely ignorant about it and think that the sun shines out of apples big shiny half eaten ass.
