I was wondering more why the seagulls go nuts... they know that isn`t a fish they could take home for dinner, right?

Whales seem really big when you see them in videos and on television, but when you see them up close in real life like that, they are even bigger.

I don`t live by the ocean, so I may just be naive, but why is the chick out in the middle of the bay, on a surfboard when there are no waves? Does she just paddle around out there?

I had a sea otter swim by my legs when I was waist-deep in the water once. That made me almost evacuate my bowels.

HalfPintRoo, If you look closely you`ll see the whale is hunting a school of little fish when it breaches.

But yeah, that`s intense. Also I think it was a sperm whale (you may all giggle like 6th graders now).

Crakr, yes I know it`s not a fish, but saying "mamals that returned to the sea eat you" would have sounded stupid.

And for general knowledge, they`re hunting anchovy

Red tide, whales, dolphins.... boring. Kidding. Now you see why people in Southern Cal. love living here. But wait, there`s more. You can always see the harbor seals but in the sping you can get pretty close while they birth the pups.

Now if it just weren`t so damn expensive to live here.

No. Whale`s esophagus is too narrow to fit a person down. Nobody has ever "almost gotten swallowed by a whale" ever.

@talon - if these were sperm whales (which they are not) - how big do you think their esophagus is - bearing in mind they eat giant squid. Or for that matter, take the biggest dolphin, the killer whale, which can swallow a Dall`s porpoise whole?

Then ask if a human could fit down their gullet.

Don`t assume a fact about the plankton eating giants...extends to all members of the cetacea..

@greenbasterd - I`ve been out trying to snorkel with blue sharks - birds loafing all over the water - Suddenly they are up like someone electrified the sea. We didn`t even see that shark, but I`m sure one was present. The birds know.

Kalon. A humpback whale (which these were) could swallow a human, and digest it while it lives.

    Weird comment is weird.

kiriluv- do you know ANYTHING about humor? That was most definitely a joke.

Although I`m still laughing at your pitiful attempt to redirect the issue, humpback is still a ridiculously sexual name.

You joking? I can`t find the exact diameter of a humpback`s, but the monterey aquarium says blue whale`s esophagus is only 10 centimeters.
So it`s unlikely that either could swallow a human.

Okay, so I went and did the googling and such. A blue whale, which is the largest, can`t even swallow a beach ball, so yeah. I was wrong lol.
