Parents Get Surprise Visit From Army Son

Submitted by: fancylad 5 years ago in Sports

It all took place at a Boston Bruins game, during a ceremonial puck drop. I think I just got something in my eye.

I know Bob. Sheesh, if the US military is this fractionated that we`re having long-time valued users leaving over getting the branch of military wrong... I don`t know what to say.
Hell, Bob even changed the post title, just for you, after your explosive rant.
To be fair davy, I did deliberately change it to a different wrong caption. The intention being a little tongue-in-cheek humour. But it seems these military types can`t take a joke.

I don`t even know what the varying uniforms of the armed services of my OWN country look like, never mind a different one.

To be so deeply offended by the thought of being mistaken for a member of a different branch of the military seems pretty pathetic and childish to me. I would have hoped that military service instils a degree of maturity which would elevate you above such puerile concerns, but it seems I am wrong about that.

Which branch this guy serves in is utterly irrelevant to the point of the video, but if you`re going to complain this much about it I`ll change the caption to read Army.

I agree with splur. Not knowing the difference just shows the ignorance that is present. Great video otherwise

Also, can`t speak for others, but in case there`s any doubt as to how much we respect our military, here`s my Bookface status for Remembrance Day (I hardly ever post), copy-pasta`d:

"Remembering my auld beloved Granda on this day - fought as a gunner on the Royal Navy Battleship "HMS Revenge" during the Battle of the Atlantic (1939-1945), after lying about his age to get into the British Navy to fight the good fight. Manys the great nights we had regaling over old war stories, with me as a kid misty-eyed and slack-jawed and him smoking thoughtfully on his pipe. Miss you, love you and respect you always Granda."

Do I know what his uniform looked like? Can`t say that I do, and that was my own (British) armed forces.

Splurby - two of the mods that are most avtive these days are myself and Almightybob, and we`re both Euro-peons. Forgive us for not being very familiar with the uniforms and insignias of the various branches of the US Military... In these cases, we`ll just take the submitted caption. How were we to know? Hell, Bob even changed the post title, just for you, after your explosive rant.
You are all a joke. So perma-ban me you drating faggots.
Just don`t come back. Or come back, it`s up to you. No-one`s getting banned.

Nope, I doubt it. But I tell you dumbass MODs to step up your game and run a website worth going to and you cannot do the most simple things. What`s funny is you post stuff all the time, like Fox News getting their stories wrong... and you can`t even get your poo straight. You are all a joke. So perma-ban me you drating faggots.

I am done with your ridiculous website forever. I have been a on the MODS` side quite a few times and have defended this site from some pretty harsh opinions, however I now know I am dealing with people who cannot and will not grasp simple logic.

You think it is OK to misrepresent a person who has chosen to lay down his or her life for their country? The USAF whom I have worked with quite often are high in honor for completely different reasons than the ARMY. Same with Marines and Navy and Coast Guard. Do you think I, as a Marine want to be misrepresented to the public at large? I have trained, bled, been through multiple wars, dodged bullets and rockets and generally feared for my life for fifteen years with the Marines... why would i stayed for my branch to be misrepresnted? Do you think Osirous (Sp?) would want to be called a Marine or Air Force?

@ IAB - I have a special request. Give us all a break from the idiots who make a big deal and carry on about which service is represented. Marine vs Army etc.

Just call them "Servicemen" {or women} and get splurbyburbl to shut the drat up about it. Thank you.

Oh...nice post by the way. It warmed my cold, dead heart.

And now, to take your mind of the miserable debacle in the middle east, grown men on ice skates will do battle with barbaric ferocity over an inconsequential black dot.

Really?? drating really MODS? Again with the Army to Marine mix-up? You people act like it`s some sort of rocket science. I mean... I get it... the retard who submitted the content didn`t use all two of his/her brain cells to pay minimal attention to detail and find out what branch thye are in. Because apparetnly they care SO MUCH about out military men and women, they don`t even give us the goddamned courtesy of getting out branches and uniforms right.

But, what sucks is there is apparently zero content accountability on this site.

Why don`t we just make up flat out lies for captions regarding all content from now on? Yeah, like, "Cute lobster chases laser dot" or "Zimbabwe, this is why you`re fat."

It`s drating nonsense.

I wonder if everyone who writes the inevitable hate on here for soldiers and their families etc, realise that its been done so much, its not offensive anymore, just boring... Love the video, not because he is a soldier, but because it is a child reunited with his parents. Nothing is more beautiful.
