@ serrin

you`re 10 years old and an adult force you into oral sex and intercourse. Another adult told someone what they heard and that was the end of it. Are you satisfied?

Here`s the thing: Paterno did everything he was required to do by law. He reported it to his superiors. It was their job to tell police. They didn`t. They covered it up. According to school policy, he could have been fired if he had reported it to police. Should the law be changed, yes. But Paterno didn`t cover anything up, he told someone.

The best part of this pic is that it`s true.
That really is the name of his book.

What does Jean Moore, Page Wessel and Joe Paterno have in common?

They all knew about a pedofile, did nothing to stop it thus enabling him...still cant figure who is worse - the pedofile or those that let them continue.....

that is all.

I have no idea where that rant was going rok1099, because several times you stopped halfway through a sentence and started another one. But I can tell (despite the stream-of-consciousness f*ck-clarity-of-writing approach to posting you have adopted) that you 1) don`t get IAB, and 2) are taking some message from this post that isn`t there.

Someone who covers up child abuse should not be in charge of children or their development, so the picture still makes a coherent and funny point regardless of whether Paterno personally raped children or simply hid abuse from the authorities.

Nowhere does the post say he personally committed child rape, and a simple Google search would illuminate anyone unfamiliar with the story (like myself).

To be clear i understood that he covered it up. That wasnt what i was getting at. I was just saying that as a website that posts every tom-dick and boner joke people think is funny, attract a base audience with ideal of tom-dick and bonering, stick to it. I guess i didnt make it clear, im not saying this pic in particular got me revved up. I go to /b/ and lollercaust for gods sake, what im saying is that to lure in an audience who is either a) bored or c)Can`t remember their stumbleupon account login. So with that in mind these people are looking to spend mindless time scrolling through funny poo. So every time theres a "POLICE BRUTALITY!" video or something relative to modern world outside their laptops (god forbid) IAB takes on the responsibility as wanting too become an outlet to people who most likely spend more time on facebook or this than CNN or BBC world news. Not saying its going to change, just saying its a shame. Again, drat spelling

Technically Paterno didn`t touch any boy scout`s in their no-no place, he just covered up the alleged molestation. There`s a difference.

It`s all about priorities. What`s more important, the good name of the team or or 10 year olds being raped? It`s a tough call.

in response to @rok1099, there was never an accusation that Paterno molested children. He did however, allegedly cover it up and let it continue to happen.

rok1099 yeah he never raped or touched boys, but many different people went to joe paterno telling him someone was touching boys several times over several years and he did NOTHING at all. didnt even suspend the guy accused, so know your facts. what he did was wrong and this pic is funny cause he could obviously give two poos about children or their developement and idc about my spelling lol

I actually created an account to comment on this one. IAB whoever is posting lately needs to get their` facts right. Joe Paterno did not rape ANYONE. The guy who did was his defensive assistant. To Post something like this if drating irresposible because now every user who comes one here who isn`t aquainted with sports (sport= all of them cuz if the internet). Im sick of the frantic need to post things to grab a reaction rather that waiting for a story to develop so that readers can be informed. LIke it or not you guys are a medium, IAB, thousands if not millions of bored people sift through your site and learn about things that you might ot have been aware of. So unless IAB stand for Its All Bias, I suggest changing your policy from one of posting stupidly vague and harmful poo on your pages and adopt one that requires a little research and allows for development of a story. And i dont give a drat bout my spelling.

I think people are confusing legal and moral obligations here. Legally he did what he was supposed to do. Let me rephrase that... legally h did the very mininum that is required to avoid prosecution when you are mad aware that one of your coworkers is having anal sex with a 10 year old.

Morally, by not calling the cops, he allowed this to continue. That`s why he was fired and not arrsted. He was not "doing his job" by just continuing to look the other way. Everyone who had knowledge of this and did not contact the police should be, at mininum, fired as the university does not want to promote the message that they support child rape.

"I think a full investigation is called for."

Where do you think all the current info on this came from? The investigation started months before the arrest on the 5th.

I say this only to clarify what I assumed to be obvious. Ideally, once the media dies down and the district attorneys can do more research, more individuals involved in this will see criminal charges.

The Supported employees i was refering to have intellectual disabilities -they are classed as children legally. It is the duty of any person in a position of authority to report allegations or suspitions of abuse. That seems to have not happened here.My first thought is - why not? if so many people seem to have known about it.
I think a full investigation is called for.

Y`know... just "doing his job" would not be enough in this case. Really, with his pull, couldn`t he of gotten the child molester fired? Sorry, excuse squad, but someone should of done more then "HIS JOB" when this was going on.

joe paternal isn`t being singled out. the guy who did this is going to jail ,hopefully to live a long long life being the toy for a cellblock everyday. joe was supposed to be a mentor, he was nominated for a congressional award for all the things you did for the community. but people still dare to defend him. he slept like a baby for over 10 years knowing that this was going on because of him. is he the only 1 who is culpable ,no.but no one else has their house surrounded by people chearing for him

As Part of my job I am classed as a "Mandatory Notifier".If I even suspect that one of my supported employees is being abused in any way I HAVE to report it.I can be charged if I dont.We are intructed that we are NOT to investigate as that is For the relevant authorities.(even if I think the allegation is Garbage I still have to report it for proper investigation).
Some serious questions need to be asked here I think.
He did sit on his ass knowing that his asst. coach had anal sex in the showers with a 10-year-old boy...
and
He did report to his superior actually. Not much else he could have done. He never witnessed the molestation so if he had gone to the cops, he could have been charged with slander.
I`ve heard so many rumors and back an forth on this subject that I`m not willing to take sides either way, but it looks like here that you`re taking both sides all at once.

The proper thing to do is not to tell your boss. The proper thing to take pics, then call the police.

The proper thing to do is to rush in, kick his ass and then take the boy to the police.

The proper thing to do is not to tell your superior, so he can tell his superior, who will tell his superior who will tell Jerry not to do that...because that is bad mmmay?

Seriously, I cannot defend anyone involved/implicated in this. They allowed it by not ensuring the proper authorities had it on file that the events occurred and were reported.

Yes Joe Pa did what he should have done with the report and lack of evidence, but rock and a hard place, he should have done more....tough nuggets, guy gets to retire mega rich.

qquuaacckk: He`s a scenario for you.

If your 10-year-old child (if or when you have one), was witnessed being anally raped in a shower by a 60-something year old man, and the witness only told the 60-year-old`s boss (Paterno) and that boss only told management (Penn State administration) and the local police never investigated, and then you found out about this rape a few years later, would you be satisfied that everything possible had been done?

I`m not calling Paterno guilty, but he could have pushed an investigation--I think even he admitted to that. Penn State`s football program was the number one priority here, no one else`s.

Steve0x757, you have absolutely no idea of the law.

Also, I could be wrong but I heard that Joe Pa already knew this had been going on prior to the incident. Sandusky was supposed to have been JoePas protege when he was fired unexpectedly in 1999. It is suspected that the reason he was fired was because of something like this. However, he was allowed to have a private office in the locker room still and then three years later this incident happened. And then 9 years later people finally find out about it? Penn State even had a rule that Sandusky was allowed to stay around as long as he didn`t bring any boys on campus. IMO the whole freakin athletic staff should be fired. Every single person that knew about it

Stop defending him seriously. Not only should SOMEBODY have called the cops, EVERYBODY who heard about it should have called the cops. Every single person should have a high enough moral standard to do everything they can to report something like this even if they just heard it through word of mouth. If somebody told me that they saw somebody get raped you can guarantee i would have gone to the cops, even if I did not know the victim or the assailant.

quaack - sorry, if someone tells you he saw child sexual exploitation it is your responsibility to report to the police. Then, if (as in this case) you are the line manager of the person reporting it, you fire him for not reporting it to the police, and for not trying to save the child. Once you fire him, he is no longer your responsibility so you can smack him round the head for being an idiot.

Jocas - he didn`t do enough to report it?

He was told that a ten-year-old boy had been raped in the showers, and he neither contacted the police nor roasted the guy who told him that, rather than beating seven shades of sht out of the rapist and saving thechild.

That is a bit more than "could have done more". That is facilitating. That is accessory after the fact. That is allowing this man to rape children again.

somebody, whether it was paterno or his superiors or mcquery, should have called the cops. anyone as high up on the food chain as joe paterno (and/or the others) could have easily communicated their own suspicions concerning the mcquery report w/out initiating anything slanderous, but at least putting in motion something/anything to help these boys.

and slander should go straight out the MF-ing window when there`s an eyewitness accusation of kids being raped. notice i said `eyewitness` and `rape`. those boys will suffer with the aftereffects of this rape for life just like any woman would, or maybe even more than a woman.

victims need a voice, especially the little ones.

fancylad, He reported what he had heard immediately to his boss, it was his bosses responsibility from there.

We don`t know if Paterno knew if what he was told was true or if he knew that his boss did nothing about it. With sexual assault cases once you pass them up the chain you tend to get cut out of any investigation because of privacy issues.

Who`s Joe Paterno? Well, somebody told him {Joe} that they saw somebody doing
something to somebody they shouldn`t and now everyone is mad at Joe for
not telling the police what someone told him they saw somebody do.

I like how JoePa is being criticized more than the guy who actually molested the little boys. He did what he was legally obligated to do. I don`t see the problem with what he did. I do have a problem with McQueary not stepping in when he saw what he saw.

joe pa had a lot of pull he could have done something. he was way higher onthe food chain than that guy. why do you think he hired a defence attorney?
