I`m not sure why everyone automatically assumes this man is a poacher? Hunting is a way that you can help conserve the natural state, by balancing populations. Anyone that automatically assumes its an inhumane murder of an animal is extremely ignorant. Yes, there is inhumane killing, poaching etc. etc., but those instances are looked upon with very angry eyes from both hunting and non communities.

I love hyenas, they are amazing parents and have unique matriarchy order. They don`t eat carrion are unparalleled in hunting stamina. Hate this guy. I hope he gets trampled by the elephants or gets gored by the buffaloes or torn to pieces by the monkeys - natural order

I too see nothing wrong with this man`s action.
I`d like to do it one day too, with bows and arrows and spears and traps.

hatface, obviously you live in an area where the only wild animals are pigeons.

The satisfaction of hunting is so mysterious in cultures where children grow up on hamburgers but never see a cow killed for meat.

The satisfaction is primal, and not about savage, testosterone-driven slaughter of another living creature, but putting food on the tables of your family and neighbors.

Hunting or fishing in most of subsaharan Africa is poaching. Hunts costs thousands, and are managed by game ranch owners who must know what a balanced population of predator and prey species is on their land.

Excess population can be sold for hunting.

Elephants are slow breeders so they don`t come up for hunts all that often. The animal meat is eaten, given to the families of the trackers, and/or local tribes who have an agreement with landowners. Fees from hunts are also often split with locals.

Trophies (mounted heads, skins, and such) are taxidermy jobs which contain no organic material except hide and horns. Ivory cannot be exported.

Prime breeding specimens are not available to hunt.

Hunting programs which do not allow indiscriminate killing but consider the balance of populations of species are called Sustainable Use programs.

Nothing is wasted, and the vast majority of hunters only take sure shots because they`re don`t want t

SlothOfDoom: African elephants are not endangered, Asian elephants are, but unless you want some serious prison time, no one hunts them anymore.

Madest: Lead by example, you do it first.

hatface: Hyenas really are the douchebags of the animal kingdom, I suggest you watch a few videos of just their behavior in the wild if you don`t believe me.

"I really hate Hyenas, though." What? It`s a god damn ANIMAL. Look, I don`t care what moral code you use to shoot animals, but to say you simply hate an entire species of animal is just stupid.

Boggles the mind.

I`m a deer hunter and have no problem hunting for meat, but I don`t get even hunters in the US thinking it is some sort of "sport" to hunt an animal with the brain the size of a walnut. However, I believe as long as people eat or share what they kill they can call it whatever they want. I just enjoy my time out in nature, but feel the killing is more anticlimactic and a chore. BUT I DO LOVE STEAKS!

Besides, how ever this guy needs to burn off testosterone let him to it. I just prefer to do it through sex!

You want to impress somebody? Do it without a weapon. Anybody can kill with a weapon, prove you`re a man and get naked and take on a hippo. I`ll watch.

Well, he is eating these animals which makes this ok with me. Except for the elephants, since they are still a threatened species (I think....right?)

I hate people who hunt just for trophies, but I really don;t care if you are hunting (even if the hunt is a total sham) and killing something you are going to consume. It is no different than eating a burger.

"If you eat any meat at all, you have no right getting mad at him. In fact, if you buy your meat at a store instead of kill it yourself, you`re more heartless and disconnected from the animals you eat than he is."

Illogical argument is illogical

Is he allowed? If so then whatever. If there was, for example, an overabundance of elephants, then I wouldn`t mind at all.

I guess there isn`t
being "vulnerable" and all. Oh well. I guess he`s exploiting corrupt African governments that can`t regulate hunting... but at least he IS using the elephant. He`s eating it... but how long an entire elephant would take to consume I can`t imagine.

Most of this so called big game hunting has nothing to do with tracking down an animal in the open bush, shooting it, and sharing the meat with locals. The animals are penned in relatively small enclosures, just big enough to make the hunter look for it for a few minutes. It`s big business - pay your money and take your shot.

one guys to do have done this is cool enough that it isn`t so bad. No use hating on him. The damage has already been done by early white settlers and modern corporations

To be honest, if he eats them and maybe shares the meat with the local village then I don`t see a problem as long as the animals he shoots are in abundance. It is more humane than most slaughter houses.
