Again, I understand the complaint, but to put a speaker at every intersection would be asinine. There could be confusion at intersections for him if the next intersection down was beeping and he misheard it and thought that it was for his intersection.

I would better understand the complaint if he had just moved to a new town and he pet ironed for a speaker to be put in for intersections that he uses the most and the busiest, inclusively.

Or he could just get a wife... That would ease some of his bad complaints.

i wondered about that for a long time, how do blind people navigate where they want to go? also in a related note, how does a guide dog know where the blind guy wants to go? he can`t say "k Brüno, we need groceries" and the dog automatically knows where to go.

That was a nail biter. And at first, when that guy honked, I was like "don`t honk at a blind guy, what`s wrong with you?!"

@ jendrian "we need groceries" and the dog automatically knows where to go."

Actually yes :). If you don`t have a terribly difficult route and usually stick to one store. My Wife (r.i.p.) used her guide to get to the post office as well as the store. I walked the safest route with both of them to get pup established. Unleashed/uncontrolled dogs are a nightmare for guide dogs. Once the route is established and repeated a few times "Store" or "Post office" is an understood job for a well trained pup.

Guide Dogs for the Blind is a terrific institution. www.guidedogs.com/ M

Too bad that fellow is not able (or willing) to use a dog. Intersections like those are a snap for them.

Another reason to hate prius drivers.

Q: What`s the difference between a porcupine and a prius?

A: A porcupine has the pricks on the outside.

Los Alamos, NM, had high-pitched chirps that would pan back and forth across the intersection in a fraction of a second indicating the direction you could cross.

Traffic signals all over Japan play a tune for the blind to let them know it is safe to cross. You can hear the tune here. It plays just around 25 seconds into the video.

    "Umm who cares?"

Who? Other people who are blind.
Who doesn`t care? Selfish pricks like you.

Because in the US we have a heartless and selfish society where people don`t give a crap.

All you bastards who are being Aholes to this guys should try crossing a street with your eyes closed. I fear for you loved ones who may require your help one day.
He is trying to live an independent life despite a huge disability. And the measures to ensure that he can do just that are simple and inexpensive.

I`m baffled by some of these comments. The guy is blind, it`s difficult for him to do the daily mundane tasks that we sighted take for granted. Give the guy a break and let him have his few mins online, at least he`s educating others about what the blind go through.
