Exposing a child to bodily fluids from a stranger should be a criminal offense (if it isn`t already). I can see some sick pervert masturbating with a lollipop and then shipping it off to some retarded parent to stick in their kids mouth. "Mommy this sucker tastes all salty!" Sick twisted drats....

I bet all these people are not convinced about the global warming as well.
Inoculation is a science ( with ridiculously low risks)
Irresponsible people.

The chicken pox virus is much more evolved than what most people realise. It takes control of the host`s and it will later attempt to reproduce itself by using the host`s children as new vessels.

There are several other parasites or viruses that use other beings as intermediate hosts and controls, like the green-banded broodsac.

We don`t vaccinate against it over here. We probably should though. But yeah, I`ve heard of these things, they were (are?) not uncommon here as a way of immunising against it while you`re young.

Then I guess my own mother is guilty of this! My sister and I went through our childhood NEVER getting chicken pox. Finally my sister came home with them one day when she was 15 and I was 12. My mom didn`t want me to get it as an adult since it`s worse so she was like "Go play with your sister!!" and basically told me to get Chicken Pox FROM her so I could get it over with. (I did end up getting them too...on my 13th BIRTHDAY which was a week later!) So my mom had a "Pox Party" in our own house that year!

I didn`t realise there was a vaccine for chicken pox, pretty much everyone gets chicken pox when they`re little and you want to hope you do really, it just gets worse when you`re older

Homeland Security should look into it. A pre-made and easily to infiltrate delivery system for biological contagions seems exactly the kind of thing the agency was made for in the first place.

I don`t want to live on this planet anymore...

That said, while I do plan to get my kids immunized, I hope they end up with my constitution.

My immune system is so powerful, the plague avoids ME.

WOW!!! That is freaking gross..disease through the freaking mail!!!!! Why are these tards not getting their children vaccinated by licensed professionals??? I heard part of the reason is the whole autism scare...hell I dont know, why people do the crap that they do, and should know better..but for some reason prove other wise..

"Ok little Jonny, mommy isnt gonna let you get vaccinated from a big ole scary mean Dr...so instead im gonna take matters into my own hands and have a complete stranger send infected materials through the mail..so I can infect you with those same infectous diseases so you can get sick too, so that your body can build its immune system against those diseases..however im really not sure its just chicken pox, it could be the aids virus sent by some sick phuck that likes to harm children...and potentially infect those who handle the package as well..before it ever even reaches us..so you see son sharing is caring"
here in australia we are sent, as young children, to play with other kids who have chickenpox in the hope that we will also get it. I for one will be sending my kids to play with others who have chicken pox in the hope that they contract it so that when they are older, it will not turn into something serious.
Why would you try to get your children infected with the disease at full strength when your government will infect them for free with a weakened version that will immunise them in the same way with far less risk of suffering? That`s what the chickenpox vaccination is and it`s free at 18 months in Australia.

I got chickenpox and wasn`t actually ill at all, but some children are really rather ill with it. Maybe yours would be. So why do that rather than having them infected in a controlled way with a weakened virus that will make them immune but not ill?
Some people just fail to grasp the nature of evidence. The whole anti-vac thing is based on the same stupidity as creationists, truthers, birthers, climate change deniers and homophobes.
It`s not quite that bad. Mercury is toxic and you can get ill from a live vaccination, so it`s not as completely ridiculous as those other things.

However, the minute risks from vaccination are vastly outweighed by the risks from a full-blown infection. So it`s obviously stupid and dangerous to increase the risk to your children by not vaccinating them, let alone deliberately infecting them.

Anyone opposed to vaccinations should watch a child with whooping cough. I`d tape their eyes open, strap their hands to their sides so they can`t block their hearing and make them see and hear everything.

Then I`d take them to some graves of people who died because they weren`t vaccinated. And leave them there.

This is fekking stupid, i can understand the stupidness behind sending contagens in the mail but chicken pox? really? here in australia we are sent, as young children, to play with other kids who have chickenpox in the hope that we will also get it. Wrong. I had chicken pox as a young child and I didn`t even feel ill. I looked bad, but I felt fine.
Age 32
You get chicken pox
You think you`re going to die
You die
Also wrong. I know a few people who got chicken pox as adults (from their kids). They`re not dead.
Any doctor will recommend that you get your tot as close to a chicken pox infected kid as possible so they won`t die of it later.
Wrong again, on both counts. Doctors generally recommend vaccinations because doctors generally understand medical issues. Although the vaccine for chicken pox isn`t recommended here in the UK, it should be.

Jail them all. Deliberately spreading potentially deadly diseases *through the post* should be highly illegal (and probably is). They don`t know or care who will be infected. It doesn`t even matter that they`re doing it for bad reasons - it would be wrong to do it that way even if the reasons were good (which they aren`t).

M_Archer:

Yes, but meeting a kid of a family that you know to get your kid chicken pox is one end of the spectrum, whereas sending measles and smallpox in the mail (potentially infecting people with these on the way) and letting your kid exchange body fluids from a complete stranger`s kid.. which possibly has other diseases floating around in it...? It`s not the same thing. Even remotely.

The anti-vaccine people are retarded.

That being said, isn`t that how people immunized their kids against chicken pox? When you`re young, don`t your parents either give you the chicken pox vaccine or take you to a kid who is infected?

Hard to do that if you get infected because they are transmitting contagions via public mail.

I admit that getting sick can sometimes be good, i was sick quite a bit as a child but now i`m almost never sick. I built up my immune system and now i don`t have to worry about it. Moms using that antibacterial hand soap are going to kill us one day. I really don`t have a problem with pox parties, it`s sending these things through the mail and involving people who have no idea of what is in these. If you wanna get together with your friends and swap pathogens, for it. Just don`t involve the mail man.

The only problem is Private doctors are refusing non-immunized children because the parents will end up suing the doctor because the kids got sick saying the doctor didn`t inform them right.

Ya they had "POX parties" 100 years ago before modern medicine. Just like Newspapers, things get replaced in the future.

But the rate of serious complications does go up with age at infection.

>>>Either way, you were exposed and had the antibodies<<<

Small children getting chicken pox is "usually" not a big deal. HOWEVER, the point of vaccination to to reduce the incidence of an agent in the population. Getting chicken pox as an adult carries a much higher rate of serious complications. Before we had a vaccine the best course of action was to get it young so that you did not get it when older and the risk of complications higher, although you did increase the rate of shingles in the population. NOW we have a vaccine. Not taking it is a akin to saying we hunted the woolly mammoth for thousands of years with nothing more than a sharp stick for our food and by George that`s what I will do now.

Part of the reason for requiring vaccination is that they do not always work. Let me explain. If everyone is vaccinated the risk that someone that was vaccinated in which the vaccination was not effective is low BECAUSE the disease is NOT common. EVEN if the disease in question does not cause a problem for your specific child, the become a carrier of an agent that can (and does) kill and seriously injure others, even some that have been vaccinated for that specific agent.

Mailing the agent through our postal service shows serious disregard for others.

When I was a kid- granted I`m an old fart- our parents would stick us in a room with a sick sibling or over to a neighbors house that had a sick kid. Ya might get sick, ya might not; Either way, you were exposed and had the antibodies. The F.D.A. and the C.D.C., if you look at their flagrant commercial bias, are not to be taken at their word. On anything.

HalfPintRoo: Some people have immunity disorders, like yourself, apparently your immune system isn`t building the anti-bodies necessary for long-term immunity.

I had scarlet fever, and nearly died from it, when I was 3yrs. old and chicken pox at 4. Even so I wouldn`t trust my own long-term immunity being around a feverish kid. As Gerry pointed out mumps can make adult men sterile.

I take the position that sick kids are like mini-germ warfare factories, if they are coughing or have a fever, stay away from them.

It`s actually good that people are finally listening to doctors, but sending viruses through the post is just plain wrong, and probably illegal. They do it because:
Age 2
You get chicken pox
You think you`re going to die
You get better

Age 32
You get chicken pox
You think you`re going to die
You die

Any doctor will recommend that you get your tot as close to a chicken pox infected kid as possible so they won`t die of it later. The problem with sending it through the post is that people who`s parents weren`t smart enough to listen to a doctor when they were 2 will get it from the package and probably die.

Sending chicken pox by mail all the way across the country is not a good idea at all though. And do the kids have to lick the lolli that the other kid sucked on? groooossss

I have had the measles mumps and rubella vaccine 6 times in my life (4 times as an adult) and it doesn`t take on me. I get chicken pox and shingles every so often. It`s not true that you can`t get them more then once. I think I`m up to 11 times in my lifetime (I`m 28). Sending this through the mail now? Scary to someone like me. I know the chances of me intercepting it is little to none... but still, it`s out there.

What if a mail worker picked it up from the outside? Adults don`t deal as well as children do with chicken pox. If your too cheap to buy the vaccine that`s one thing, but this is just too far.

That is so disgusting! So, if a kid dies from one of those diseases (or complications from them), and it`s discovered that the kid was given a "poxpop", would the sender of that lollipop be connected to the child`s death? I really don`t see the big deal about vaccines. These people are just paranoid. Or stupid. Or both.

People used to do this shiz all the time. If one kid had pox, parents would take their kids to play with that kid so they could get it too. This is just on a bigger scale. I think this is blown way out of proportion, its not like their sending AIDS or anything.

This level of stupidity amazes me. How can idiots like this even function in the world when they can`t figure out the simplest thing like "protect your child" not "put it at risk". Rubela? Seriously? Why not track down some Black Plague. Mumps? is that for the kid or to make your adult baby-dady sterile `cause that`s what mumps does in grown men.

I couldn`t find a face-palm to do this stupidity justice.

Building a natural immunity is better than vaccination especially later in life. Mailing contaigens is still illegal. Have any of these people thought of those who may come in contact by accident that don`t want to? If they were trained bioligsts, they would know better than to do this. Have a party if you want with willing participants but don`t expose the general public to un-neccesary danger.
