Aw, c`mon. Imagine what it would cost to make a fake egg compared to having a chicken lay one? It`s like making fake potatoes.

Yeah, I was like "why" also, but news reports say they can make fakes at a 8 to 1 ratio to the cost of real ones. Slip`em in through black market and profit.

But eating those chemicals? I`d sooner down drain-o.

If by fake eggs he means they were created with unnatural methods forced on the chicken to get bigger eggs or something similar but still coming from a chicken then ok. If he means there is an evil mastermind building fake eggs from scratch, which I don`t even see how they would, then he`s a nutjobber crackpot. It would take more money to fabricate an egg than it would to buy a chicken and wait.

Really 8 to 1. How do they even form the shell around the insides? I`m blown away that there`s a method at all let alone a cost-effective way.

Internet hoaxes annoy the piss out of me. So much thought and effort gets put into these things, and why? Just to make some shmucky rube on Facebook get all panicky and pass along the fake information to equally stupid people. If the people behind these things put all that effort to good use we could probably do something great. P.S. I was recently at a wedding and overheard one of the guests talking about "The new I-Phone 5" you know, the one with the hologram chat app like Star Wars? I could only roll my eyes at the gullibility of people.

A brief Google search gave up a lot of news sources for fake eggs, but only 1 source that it`s a hoax. The hoax source was one of those conspiracy-theory sites that won`t admit the earth is actually round {there`s a vortex!} so for now, I`m going with "Fake Eggs Are Real".

Feed a chicken = real egg
    Massive undertaking = fake egg

Why would this exist? It probably doesn`t.

Hate to disagree but all the looking I`ve done has produced 0 credible results. Also, snopes and some other `Is it fake` site both while not denying say the same thing I have found; No CREDIBLE sources that it`s real. Regardless of sources, having raised chickens, I still have a massively hard time swallowing that a di*kload of chemicals and a fair amount of time and effort comes out as cheaper than throwing dirt cheap feed at 20 chickens once or twice a day. Not to mention that the supposed videos showing the methods use handheld molds that require attention per molding and again it`s hard to believe that one let alone several people could match all the chickens and still come out profitable anywhere close to 8 to 1. I`m sticking with BS.

Ever gotten a red one? Or how about a tiny baby bird, along with recognizable feathers? Just the thing to see when your already nursing the hangover from hell; one short sniff of stale beer and cigarettes away from emptying your already aching, sore & tumultuous stomach. Mmmmm Yummy!

@beefno, no, it`s really true. They have been on sale in China for some time. It seemed to me to be extremely hard, but manufactured in volume, there are significant cost savings and they are sold as real eggs for regular prices.

I understand it that they are a flavoured, coloured protein in suspension, not in itself poisonous. Of course, fake eggs aren`t exactly FDA approved, so if they can add a chemical that makes them more egg-like with some moderate toxicity, they will add it.

It happened with the milk too. Farmers sell to a collective. Farmers started watering the milk down to get more money, so the collective would test for protein content. Farmers rebalanced the protein content with a cheap protein filler, specifically melamine, which was even cheaper than whey, which is mostly dumped anyway. Kids drink the most milk. `Official` tally was 94k casualties hospitalised, mostly kidney failure.

Most Chinese visiting Hong Kong in the past year gave the reason for the trip as `grocery shopping`. The Yuan is strong, but it all comes from China originally. They just trust Hong Kong food safety enforcement more.

this news story is fake. there are no fake eggs in circulation, simply because real eggs are cheaper than fake ones.
