England = U.S. Brothers

England = Not European, they like to consider themselves an island nation married to the sea I`ve been told.

Rest of Europe can suck it.

Weren`t most of the early US and Canadian settlers from Europe anyway? There`s bound to be huge similarities - we`re not a different species!

No one really does it`s just the way this site was setup and the butthurt amuses us. Although with the EU it`s looking more and more like a country.

@pwnlord

Good luck collecting it with our armies that sorta thing works both ways.

because the Eurozone collectively gave up their sovereignty?

Why is there no section on the post for military? U.S. ~> Most technologically advanced military in the world.

Europe ~> Still afraid of Russia.

LOL. Some damn European must of wrote this. Because I`m from Georgia and I ain`t nothin` like them yanks to the north. Or like the pot head boy lovin` hippies on the west coast. I`m certain ya`ll Europeans have that difference too right? Ya know... as our country IS LARGER THAN YOUR dratING CONTINENT. Oh and I`ll explain why we`re BETTER by one dratING quote

>>"The New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old." Winston Churchill June 4th 1940 <<

My Great Grandfather did house sweeps through France all the way to Germany, as well as many other brave Americans that DIED, liberating your countries and asking for NOTHING in return. We could have easily been another Russia. That is the difference.

Why do Europeans think of America as a country rather than a collection of unique states? The US happen to be both, and because of the way Europe`s economy seems to work it seems like a single country as well.

OldOllie so are you suggesting me that if Bush foughts talibans he was not a saint as he( and you in lot of previous posts) pretetend to paint himself? Yes this is somethingh i can agree. And just to be clear, so you will put your soul in rest, i will never read the fantastic book of your beloved racist and hate spreader Jonah Goldberg, i prefere to spend my time on "For the perpetual peace" by Immanuel Kant.

piperfawn yeah, the Russians fought the Nazis, the Bloods fight the Crips. What`s your point? If two groups of criminals fight each other, that somehow makes one group virtuous? BTW, your precious socialist icon Stalin murdered more people than Hitler.

The reason for the Jew reference was to illustrate the intellectual level of your argument. And you still said NOTHING to refute anything in Goldberg`s book.

I dislike these posts that stir up poo between countries. Childish, and really not funny playing on stereotypes just to watch people argue.

That said, did Hank Williams Jr. post this? I saw the Nazi reference to GW Bush, and thought whoever did this should be fired.

OldOllie yes i proudly launching an ad hominem attack cause you know why? I think that discredit ad hominem attack is just a bullpoo cause if i read something i want to know who is telling what i read. If a pedophile write a fable for kids i think i will not gonna read that story to my son before to go sleep. In any case i never mentioned any "jew" reference, don`t put in my mouth words i never said. Oh and just to remember you one thing you know who enter Berlin to fight "Nazist" first? Your evil "Socialist" freaking Russians. Nazism is an abberation and for you comparing it to Socialism is just sophism. You accusing me to do attack "ad hominem" when you do attack "ad verbum".
OldOllie. Why do you insist of equation socalism with NATIONAL socialism?
Because they ARE the same. Up until Hitler invaded Poland, he and Mussolini were both the darlings of the American progressive left (W. Wilson, T. Roosevelt, and FDR). The reason progressives started calling themselves "liberals" was to try to hide their past support for European fascism. (Now that liberalism has been discredited, they want to be called "progressives" again.)

Stop listening to leftist professors and do you own research. Start with Jonah Goldberg`s book "Liberal Fascism." tinyurl.com/3f3h5pj

Until then, wrap your mind around this concept:

More government control = socialism = fascism = communism = progressivism = liberalism = leftism. Think of them as vanilla, French vanilla, old-fashioned vanilla, natural vanilla, home-style vanilla, hand-packed vanilla, etc. They`re all just minor variations of the same thing: statism.

Male 525
That`s not fair!

The American column needs a good leader juxtaposed with a bad leader, like the Europeans do! Why put two bad leaders?

Keep FDR, and then put Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, or James Madison next to him. Strictly speaking, Jefferson`s and Madison`s political philosophies were similar to Churchill`s while FDR`s philosophy was similar to Hitler`s.

Other than that, the poster is pretty good. I couldn`t agree more with the message: you should never derive pride or shame from your background.

And yeah, patriotism is a belief that your country is better then all other mainly based on the fact that you were born in it. I think George Bernard Shaw said that.

This is so Ffing retarded, How about this difference: The USA is a country, Europe is not. Its a ffing continent. Most people here dont actually give an F what other countries in Europe are doing. We dont evenunderstand what they are saying cause they speak other languages, we have wars with each other. Wht not compare France to Asia next? I sure the Pakistanis and Siberians have a lot in common.

Agit

The Nazi Party was socialist because Hitler adopted many of his ideas from Karl Marx. He denied it in public, as Communists were both a threat and a scapegoat, but it is well documented that in private with his trusted officials he openly talked of Marx`s influence on his own philosophy.

He had two important differences. Nazism was nationalist, as opposed to communist internationalist socialism (which was the Russians managed to make nationalist, so not that much of a stretch) and Hitler recognised that he could control industry without nationalising it.

What is this socialist rubbish? Feeling superior to others, if kept in perspective, is a great thing.

Not only do harmful expressions of nationalism (such as national socialism) derive from the suppression of the open expression of nationalism, and from a feeling of national identity being suppressed or feelings of inferiority, but more importantly competition springs from national pride. That competition between nations to be the best (in specific fields of endeavour) improves each nation.

i dont feel part of Europe, so I dont give a damn.. the rest of you can kill Iraqis, displace indians, invade for oil and support and arm radicals whilst it suits you (Ghadaffi & UK, Talaban & USA), I`m gonna find a site that claims to cure Boredom, and then actually does it!

"OldOllie. Why do you insist of equation socalism with NATIONAL socialism? They barely overlap, your post is false, maybe misleading at best."

It`s a not-exactly-new tactic of the far right to bleat out that the Nazi party was socialist because it says so in the name. Some extremely unimaginative people fall for this little trick. It`s like saying that the Republican party doesn`t support democracy because the word doesn`t appear in the party name. Obviously it`s stupid, but there are quite a lot of funny people around, both in America and in Europe

U-S-A, U-S-A!!!!! WOOOO
on a serious note as a response to Izaq, the fact that America spends alot of money on their military makes other countries (like England, France) not have to spend as much since we fight together anyway. Also, America has always used the electoral college to elect presidents so the fact that Bush did not win the popular vote really does not matter. And thirdly, explain to me how America got natural resources from Iraq? We still buy our oil from the same places we did before and gas prices have gone up. This is a common claim so I dont blame you for repeating it but I have not heard an explanation other than.. Iraq has a lot of oil, and we invaded them soo.....
0
Reply
Male 415
@Izaq: well, I do suppose that Hitler became darn close to becoming the leader of the whole of Europe.

And Europe does have a flag, although granted that is the EU flag, not the whole continent.

I do wonder why on earth they compared Miles David with Led Zeppelin and Queen. There are tons of great jazz performers here too, Toots Thielemans comes to mind.

A valiant effort to try and bring everybody together! Ofcourse, with the predictable results: half the Europeans are in an uproar that someone dares to talk about the whole of Europe as one (yes, I think everyone by now knows that it`s a whole bunch of countries) and some Americans because Bush got mentioned.

The whole point, though simple and short, does still stand.

When did Europe get a flag?
When was Hitler a leader of Europe?

And no - I dont feel superior because I was born in Europe. But I do feel scared when one of the richest nations spends 22% of its GNP on the army, and randomly starts formatting countries whenever some president (elected by less than half of the voters, who constitute less than half of the people entitled to vote) holds a grudge against that country or just wants to steal its natural resources.

And btw: European geeks arent bloated like a whale (that much) xD

Don`t lump together Europe, it`s just a stupid way to look at an argument.
