Alright, I`ve figured this out:

Just because you show a picture of a veteran (i.e. a man who put his life on the line for the country) does not automatically mean whatever cause he chooses to fight for in the future is right. This is a kind of Appeal to Authority fallacy: "veterans (people who know about fighting for freedom) think the protest is justified; therefore, it`s justified!"

A veteran CAN be wrong.

Oldollie, rush is a hatemonger, he didn’t save AM radio, he did create a renewed interest in talk radio though. And that’s only because of his extremist views. The WBC, uses a similar tactic by shutting out logic of everyone who doesn’t agree with them and saying their ‘way is the right way`, no room for negotiation. Rush may present some facts and have an occasional moment of clarity now and then, but he’s still just an entertainer looking for ratings.
What had Rush contributed to society?
You mean besides saving the entire AM radio industry from dying in obscurity, but which now provides employment to 10s of 1000s of people, generates $billions in tax revenue and contributes 10s of $billions to the GDP? Not much, I guess, unless you count providing entertainment for millions of loyal listeners every weekday from noon to 3:00 eastern time.

Of course, that can`t compare to YOUR great contributions to the economy, which would be...what? Dumbf*** Canuck.

Rush is right, for the most part, for every one of these vets you find there are several hundred students, socialists, and unionists in this protest. There are many more vets, percentage wise, involved with the Tea Party.

When less than .1% of your protesters are vets, you`re being disingenuous spotlighting them as a repsentative example.

Conservative media (owned by corporations) making 99% protesters out to be parasites and nobodys.

I`ve seen this before:

Liberal media (owned by corporations) making tea party protesters out to be a lunatic fringe.

corporate government state has us at each others throats. Protest Washington!! Less regulation, laws to limit campaign finance, how about a 3 term limit for congressmen. We need to get corruption out of government.

Protest by nature is a truly beautiful American liberty. The fact that a bunch of people can organize and stand together for what they think is right, is a right that a lot of the world doesn`t get to exercise. With that being said, I do think that there are a lot of people involved in the Occupy protests that for the most part are just transits or bandwagon hippies that are looking for a place to camp between getting kicked out of parks and being told they can`t sleep under bridges and in the streets.
The fact is, while that not all of these protesters know what their protesting about, a majority do, and the cause is just, as there are real problems on “wall street” that have been overlooked for a long time.
Sorry to soapbox..

tedgp: Really? That`s how you feel about the WWII Vets? Maybe we should have let Hitler bomb your dumb a$$es into oblivion 70 years ago. You`d all be speaking German and hailing Hitler now. And you`re actually wrong about your statement. Some were drafted, but the majority of young men that went to war WANTED to sign up after Pearl Harbor. And if you haven`t been at the protests to actually find out what kind of people they are, then don`t comment on them. Rush Limbaugh is a douchebag talking head and nothing more. He`s part of the problem in this country.

This guy has been around long enough to be held responsible for allowing the government to write laws that allow the corporate influence.

I guess it is too late for him now. He should have been protesting 50 years ago or at least actively exercising his rights to influenc government. After all, he did fight for them.

Actually Rush is right. WWII vets were only there because they were threatened with jail or treason if they didnt sign up to go and get killed. The REAL heroes are the ones who died and the ones who didnt go around trying to get sympathy.

Well then, Ollie, how`s this idea:

You go ahead and off yourself instead of retiring? After all, once you`ve stopped actually doing work, what are you but a parasite?

Actually, better yet, I`ll take some initiative! Call me up when you think it`s time to retire, and I`ll off you, for you! For a reasonable and competitive fee, of course. Between the travel and the various killing instruments, it`s pretty expensive work.

So, how about it?

I`ll make some money, and you can hold onto any delusions you might have of going to some paradise after death because you`re not committing suicide.

I think I`ll make a KILLING *wink wink nudge nudge* off the conservative crowd!

To be fair, I also consider these OWS people morons too, considering that they have no clear idea of what they, as a whole, actually want, just a bunch of individuals screaming what THEY want, not what the whole group wants...

And most of what the screaming individuals want is ridiculous BS anyway.
So you are arguing against generalized statements, whilst making one yourself.
It`s not a generalization, it`s a petty insult and I`ll be the first to admit it.

And I never said soldiers couldn`t be morons, so that part of the argument is invalid. Anyone can be a moron. And likely is, by my (rather simple) criteria.

I just said that, if Limbaugh does not consider veterans parasites by his own standards (which, he`s Rush Limbaugh, of course he doesn`t...), then this one veteran is enough to make his generalizing statement incorrect.

Nope, never put any words in your mouth. I asked you a simple question, and your answer tells me all I need to know:

"I never said much about the Tea Party, `cept that they were morons"

So you are arguing against generalized statements, whilst making one yourself. Sweet irony, especially since in the spirit of the original post, I could post pics of literally hundreds of Veterans attending Tea Party rallies, and use it as "evidence" that you`re calling veterans morons... Like I said - Irony. Shoe on the other foot and all that jazz. So can we now label what you just said as "bullsh@@" and "hate?" lol

this country was built on protests. its good to express yourself in a peaceful manner. my fear however is that this movement will escalate into violence. in fact, i saw some film that looked a lot like the `68 chicago democratic convention--police with nightsticks poised to strike, etc. i sincerely hope not this will not be the case.
So are you posting on here to set Obama, Pelosi, Maher, and darn near every Mainstream media straight about their "Generalizing" statements about the Tea Party?
I never said much about the Tea Party, `cept that they were morons, and I don`t care about them or any comments made about them.

Whatever Obama, Pelosi, and company said, I don`t care. I`m talking about the post at hand.

I stated a simple fact. Take it as you will, but don`t put words in my mouth or decide my thoughts and opinions for me.

Because that`s called a "straw man," and it`s a piss-poor debate tactic.

And to be 100% honest, I`m still trying to figure out what the OWS protesters want, because I`m pretty sure most of them aren`t there for the reasons I would be there.

So I`m not on their side either.

"If one counter-example exists, then the generalizing statement is false."

So are you posting on here to set Obama, Pelosi, Maher, and darn near every Mainstream media straight about their "Generalizing" statements about the Tea Party? How about these protestors? Their signs seem to be pretty "generalizing" of all Jews, all wall street, all bankers, all mortgage companies, all profitable large corporations (Except the ones giving them money, notice how they were cool with the companies that donated large sums of cash, and helpful items to get them through this... Interesting how that works!.... Oh, and they`re cool with all the celebrities coming out to state they approve... You know, the celebs that live in 25 million dollar homes, and have 8 - 9 figure bank accounts.... The very "rich" they claim are evil and should have their money stripped from them and redistributed? Cool with them too...

I forgot one man completly disproves any generalization....
What Rush was sayin was that many of the protestors were well-to-do 20 somethings that really havent lived long enough to contribute much to society. His phrasing was harsh, but he does kind of have a point.

Almost forgot the multiple Occupy Wall Street protestors caught stealing too!! lol The irony! Also the moron who was putting on a good show in front of the video camera screaming at Chase bank, crying, and wailing how they "took my parents home!" He went on telling his story in tears for 10 minutes - Come to find out it was all a lie - His own mother explained to the media (He lived in a $650,000 home by the way) that they are not, nor have they ever been in foreclosure - Rather, they`re selling and moving to get out of a city they deem "too conservative." That`s what, the 3rd story on camera told by Occupy Protestors uncovered as out-right lies? Such honorable people!! Why isn`t the Media broadcasting all of this? If this crap was happening at Tea Party rallies, it`d be broadcast every 30 seconds as the lead story! But htese idiots get a free pass.

He said "many are trust-fund babies."

He said they`re all "parasites."

Clearly this guy isn`t a parasite, he served our country, put his life on the line for our freedom.

If one counter-example exists, then the generalizing statement is false.

Limbaugh`s a moron, though, so it`s not like I expect anything but bullsh*t and hate to spew out of him anyway. This isn`t anything to be surprised about.

Amazing how thousands of Veterans have attended Tea Parties, in fact, entire Tea Party chapters are dedicated to Tea Parties, such as The Veterans Voice, Veterans Today chapters, and many more.

Yet that doesn`t stop the hate from the Liberal media as they call them Racist, useless, terrorists, and a bunch of red-neck white guys with missing teeth... Interesting how that works eh? I mean, why worry about the facts when you can just make stuff up and bash Rush, Glenn, the Tea Party in one fell swoop whilst ignoring all the racism and violence being threatened by these Occupy Wall Street groups? Let`s see - They`ve managed to in 1 week: Call counter protesting blacks "Oreo`s" "Uncle Toms" and told a Civil Rights hero to "get to the back of the bus" - Anti-Semitism out the whazoo - Rush the cops - Block bathrooms, and over 1,000 arrested. Media darlings whilst the tea party is called "dangerous" and "racist" --- HMMMM...

Rush Limbaugh:
1. An overweight windbag
2. The illegitimate love child of Bill O`Reilly

3. A c-u-n-t

Yes, he said many.... for the `bored, trust-fund kids` part. But before he ever said many, he called the whole group a.) small in number, and b.) parasites. The incorrectness is not in the fact that there is an old man among the protesters, it is that the old man was a WWII vet. In any other circumstance, Limbaugh would be praising this man for what he sacrificed for our country, not calling him a non-contributing parasite.
