It wouldn`t work for fat people like me.. lol, if it did even move, you`d hear a screeching noise from the board contacting the magnets, or whatever that is on the bottom..

Seems like supercooled superconductors is the order of this week.

"I`m going to say not even remotely close, since it needs a track to work."

Its quite close, and it could work without a straight track and move around in 2D

This video is probably relevant.

I`m going to say not even remotely close, since it needs a track to work.

We`ve still got a long way to go.. And only 3¾ years to go.

so if we made a skate park completely out of nd magnets... and inspected everyone carefully for metal objects... then we could have some fun.

Loving the SPAM adverts for running shoes in this thread; very apt

Magnets...dry ice...the cool thing about this wasn`t even shown, you can tilt the board at an angle and it will maintain that angle while moving.

"i`m not even going to bother with pointing out how impractical that is"

Oh come on... please? I am dying to know. Is it very impractical or very, very impractical?

Good.

you get large enough magnets, anything`s possible

Where the hell did you go to high school, Windy? Mine didn`t even have actual glassware for chemistry, so yours having a bunch of liquid nitrogen is kind of annoying.

Wow, I did this in science class when I was 15. Not impressed.

Superconducting magnets are spreading.

Sure, it`s about as practical as cooling a cpu with liquid nitrogen, but hey... how else are you gonna get that effect?

Well, that was disappointing.

Now, all we have to do is dig up everything, implant magnets in almost every square of the world, and find a way to keep the superconductor magnet on the board from thawing out. Other than that... AWESOME!

Kinda lame, not at all like back to the future one.. since your know all the liquid nitrogen required for the super conductors..
