Lberger, are you really comparing "opening doors for you" and "putting the toilet seat down" to "not raping you"? You think men say "Well, I held a door open for you, guess that means it`s OK to rape now"?

And yes, people DO say rape victims were "asking for it" - by their clothes, or their makeup, or by the simple fact they went to a party. THAT is what anti-rape rallies are for - b/c victims don`t get nearly the support they need and deserve.

@BlackHaze Certainly it is terrible that children get murdered, but no one says "Well that kid deserved to get murdered, that`s what you get for living in a 3rd world country". There ARE rallies for murdered kids and nobody boos them. Rape victim rallies are just asking for the same courtesy. It is self-importance, but it is not unwarranted. If your mother was raped by a stranger I hope you would feel the same rage.

@slbtiger

I wouldn`t say we`re accusing women of being angry for being raped; I think it`s just over-reaction. Nobody on this thread will say that women were asking for it, or that rape isn`t a bad thing. What we`re on about is the fact that ANTI-RAPE RALLIES EXIST. I mean really?? Is there really that much support for rapists that we need a rally against them? Why don`t we have an anti-murder rally? In my opinion, this whole idea is just asking to be trolled.

You women really need to decide what your role in this life is, because you can`t be touting the feminist "strong women" image and still expect us to open doors for you, leave the toilet seat down and care about anti-rape rallies.

No, we`re on about the self importance of women. Sure, rape aint fun, but there`s WORSE things.

Women always go off about rape as it`s the worst thing that can happen to ANYONE. Stop being self important, we know women get raped. We also know thousands of children are getting murdered each day in 3rd world countries.

Of course, this aint as bad to you, cause it can`t happen to you. Self important little mean person.

Lotta 18-29 year old males in this thread, whining about how DARE women be angry for being raped.

Rape is not sex. Rape is about one person exerting power over another, to make the victim feel pain and humiliation. To be a rape victim in modern society is to be labeled weak and powerless. A woman who admits she was raped is doing something very difficult.

I sincerely hope each whiner in this thread has a large object shoved up his pooper by someone twice his size, and has to endure the humiliation of telling a police officer all about it - an officer who may or may not believe he really wanted it no matter what he says, and then he can decide whether or not his friends will support him - because who knows what things they may be whispering behind his back?

Also, ain`t it funny to see women flip the drat out about rape? "THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE HUNG!", "A RAPIST CANT GET ENOUGH PUNISHMENT!".

Really, yes, it`s the worst thing in the world. Baby murder, genocide, religious indoctrination, you`ll see em shrug. As soon as surprise sex enters the picture, all hell breaks loose.

I think rape is terrible and far from a joke. I also know for a fact by personal account on several occasions where females used rape accusations to rally hatred towards exes for petty disagreements when I knew them to be lying.
I will remain vigilant as a citizen and always follow my moral compass but rallies like these or occupy wall street are typically led by special interests groups or individuals bent on more than equality and justice. It`s hard to take feminists seriously when feminist "leaders" make jokes about men being castrated and deserving it for asking for a divorce while simultaneously calling for all but be-headings if a man so much as farts at his wife. By mere accusation many men have been ruined by angry women. Women`s rights = Equality in the face if misogyny. Feminism most often = Misandry in the face of Misogyny. One seeks to make things equal the other to breed inequality and are just as bad as the misogyny they fight.

Wendypants: of course the burden of proof rests on the accuser, that is with all crimes and accusations. I mean, what if a woman accuses me of rape and i can`t prove i didn`t? (note: if you think not being able to prove you didn`t means you did it, i assure you its not the same). As for how many years must a rapist serve.. well there`s no right or wrong answer there but my opinion is that it shouldn`t surpass that of a murderer for example (although i wouldn`t really care if it does, if the proof is conclusive).

"Rapists don`t get nearly enough jail time for their crimes. Too few rapes are ever actually reported. The burden of proof tends to fall on the victim, mostly. This is why an anti-rape rally is not an unnecessary event."

Of the three `rapes` involving people I know of, all three were false accusations. One was a slut who initiated things, led the guy to a club toilet stall got his saussage out and mounted him then called rape later in the evening when her boyfriend found out. Second was a girl who needed a free pass on her upcoming exams that she was going to fail. The final one was purely for blackmail. When the false accusations were disproven, how many of these evil women were prosecuted? Guess?

In our society if a woman is dressed "slutily" there are people who will think that she "deserved" it, because she was obviously asking for it, and hell it was probably consensual, she`s just being a b itch or something.
What slutwalks and things like that are saying is that it doesn`t matter if someone is naked, rape is ALWAYS the rapist`s fault, and no-one deserves to be raped.
It also matters what country the image is from, as in some countries I`ve heard where the cops won`t even get a rape kit for days, weeks etc., and just don`t really prosecute the case. Hell, I wouldn`t be surprised if it was america, you and I both know there have been some horrible cops that won`t help.
Besides, most rape is more about power than about a girl (or guy) being sexy.

Thank you for so neatly proving my point.

However, your lies are perhaps too extreme and obvious. You`d have more success with less obvious lies.

Although you are right in thinking that your libel and false accusations are useful tools for promoting your agenda, you might like to consider that very obvious false accusations can backfire.

I did consider appealing to your sense of honesty and fairness by asking you to not immediately sink to libel and false accusations, but you have repeatedly made it clear that you have neither.

So...DNA evidence. Not the compelling evidence it`s so often made out to be, not either way.
0
Reply
Male 12,365
Then there`s the false positives on DNA tests. In one example from the UK, a woman was raped with accompanying violence that could reasonably be deemed compelling evidence in court that she didn`t consent.

So in that case DNA would go a long way to proving rape.

A rape kit was done and DNA evidence was recovered.

A match was made and a man was arrested on the basis of that match.

Open and shut case, right? DNA evidence...who could reasonably doubt that? Sure, he said it wasn`t him and he wasn`t even there at the time, but obviously he was lying.

Luckily for him, he could prove he wasn`t there at the time. Luckily for him, the victim saw their attacker and stated categorically that the arrested man could not possibly have been him - the man who raped her was twice his size and had different colour skin.

The DNA evidence? He worked at the hospital. One of his hairs fell out and caught in her ring as he was moving her bed.
0
Reply
Male 12,365
...so it`s simply not true that reporting rape and having DNA evidence recovered by a rape kit will be at all likely to result in a conviction (even if a match is found).

As a result, "If I got raped, I would be doing all I could to get the drater locked up." doesn`t really relate to reporting it and getting a rape kit done. That might (or might not) help in getting a conviction, but it`s very far from a certainty.

It`s not necessarily wrong to not do it and whether or not a person does or doesn`t do it doesn`t indicate whether or not they were really raped.

Then there`s the fact that a normal first reaction to being raped is cleaning yourself as much as possible. Which is understandable, but it will remove DNA evidence.

You can`t tell what you`d do if you were raped. Maybe you`d shower and shower and shower again and throw the clothes away *before* thinking rationally about maybe possibly being able to get a conviction, perhaps.
0
Reply
Male 12,365
but if you report your rape, they will run the rape kit and more than likely get DNA off of it.
DNA evidence is not the magic it`s so often made out to be. It`s not misrepresented as badly as image manipulation as an investigative tool (zoom in, enhance, zoom in, enhance...and half a dozen pixels of reflected blur becomes a perfect image of a person), but it is very badly misrepresented.

DNA evidence only proves the presence of something from a person. It strongly implies the presence of the person (DNA evidence can be brought in from somewhere else, but it usually means the person was there). What it can`t prove is state of mind. In the case of rape, that is the very guts of the issue - was there or was there not consent? DNA evidence is useless for that, so it is very far indeed from proof of rape.

Ran out of characters...

I`ve always been pro armored suits. With heads up displays and built in a/c. Maybe motorized wheels.
Would require the rapist to carry around a big tool kit to even get to second base. And even if he got in there`s a 50/50 chance of the content having a dick.

Regardless, there`s a lot of really horrible things in this war- War, Disease, Drug Cartels, Gangs... And people are getting pissed over the internet about someone at a protest who may or may not have been raped (read: someone she knew had sex with her when she didn`t want it). If it were real rape she wouldn`t be standing there holding a sign because she would be dead. There`s a huge difference between someone you know forcing you in to sex and somebody kidnapping you, raping you, and stabbing you to death.

At the very least the person who got the most mad wasn`t even 18 yet so w.e.

^This. I agree that rape isn`t a woman`s fault and all that, but an "anti-rape" rally really doesn`t impact anything. If I got raped, I would be doing all I could to get the drater locked up. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who accuse someone else of rape just to be vindictive, but if you report your rape, they will run the rape kit and more than likely get DNA off of it.

"Asking for it" doesn`t necessarily refer to what you were wearing. It could also mean showing up drunk at a frat party where you are the only chick and don`t know anyone. Or getting drunk or high with someone you are on a first date with. Does that make it okay? Of course not. But you are going to get far less sympathy than the woman who is attacked in their home during a robbery. I don`t know this particular woman`s situation and can`t comment on it.

The women who have been violated have been stripped of their free will and independence, however briefly it may have been. We don`t really get client`s who get punched in the mouth, but we see quite a few people in distress whom have been sexually violated.

Just throwing this out there...

Rape should carry the same penalty as assault or battery if it doesn`t already, since, in the end, that`s what it is.
