The clock tower that houses the famous bell is sinking unevenly into the ground. Uh oh.

@EgalM No, "Big Ben" is the name of the largest bell in the clocktower. The clocktower itself is called St Stephen`s Tower.

@furrything

Pretty sure it`s the clock not the bell. Though the bell is part of the clock so close enough.

All of that crap to finally say it probably won`t fall for thousands of years. Great. By then, there are a hundred other things that could cause it to fall or be destroyed. So let`s also predict that the Great Wall of China might not be around in 10,000 years.

3,792" = 316 ft = Big Ben height
18 / 3792 = .00475
arcsin .00475 = .272°

To that c*nt who couldn`t be arsed to tell us the tilt in degrees: YOU`RE WELCOME.

There are many buildings in London that have been rumoured to be leaning, the Telecom Tower, Tower 47 after the IRA bomb, Canary Wharf, you name it. If it`s tall and famous, it must be leaning. Yes it is the Dept of tourism, so that millions of yanks come over and take photos of our "leaning" towers. Tourism is no worse here than anywhere else, if anything people are saving coming to London for next year, Olympics is sold out, so bite me.

You have to see this thing in RL, it is much more impressive in reality, and in the sun it glitters gold.

London was a wonderful town, I had a great time, very friendly people, and despite what ppl said about English girls, I found them quite hot.

@blackcatseye sucks to be me. I should have read that before posting.

Anyway, I bet they fixed it to preserve aesthetics. Even a small lean looks weird, and this is the middle of London after all.

Cool. Nothing they can`t fix though, even if the problem was... 16 times worse.

Hahahaa I knew one of you would fall for it, I have been waiting for this to come up. Big pile of trance to distract the semi sentient sheeple from the real news, it has already been fixed, and it wasn`t really leaning anyway. This was first published in the Daily Mail or some such chip rag which nobody reads over here anymore, then another story showed where they had laid tons of concrete about a hundred feet down above the tube line extension. FFS, pay attention to real news. This was on the live list for over a week too. OLD and BORING

If this were Australia, it would be leaning the other way.

tedgp - I heard from some places that the only time we`ll notice it is between five to ten thousand years from now; not two. But eh, I suppose a really long time is what they were trying to get at.

Better add that it wont be significant for at least 2 thousand years.
