Bully Gets 3 Day Suspension For This Beating

Lax attitudes towards bullying allow these actions to continue with little to no repercussions.

You know what`s the worst thing? then gay kids like this one kill themselves, and primitive homophobics attribute that to homosexuality itself rather than the social backlash they bring onto them.
The bully is a less-obvious victim though: it takes parents to teach guys how to hate, or let go of any intolerance. Religion is indeed child abuse.

If a vandalized church was discovered somewhere with the message, "Str8 wyte male Krisshuns get out," scrawled in pig`s blood on the altar, then the perpetrators, no matter who they were, would be charged with a Hate crime.

If you really think they would be charged with hate crime, you are so naive.

"Government approved group" you say, and yet this distinction does not exist.

If a vandalized church was discovered somewhere with the message, "Str8 wyte male Krisshuns get out," scrawled in pig`s blood on the altar, then the perpetrators, no matter who they were, would be charged with a Hate crime.

To translate the legalese into the common vernacular- "Targeting & terrorizing *any* class of people is not cool bro."

@Angilion,

First, thanks for the guidelines to the use of the apostrophe.

Secondly, are you arguing that motive shouldn`t count?
for me it does, if i see someone beating the crap out of his kid, and i ask that person why and he gives me two answers:

1: the kid got drunk, "borrowed" the car and nearly killed himself and or someone else.

2: because the parent got drunk and thought his kid made a smartass comment.

in case one, whilst beating the crap out of your kid might not be the best way, i could completely understand the parent.

in case two, i would be very much inclined to beat the crap out of the parent, and show the kid which number to call to get out of that situation.

Not all crimes are equal, therefore not all punishment should be equal.

I`m not falling for your pretence that "motive" and "membership of a government-approved group" are the same thing.

If you want me to answer your question predicated on the assumption that they are the same thing, you`ll first have to convince me that they are the same thing.
"Obviously, it isn`t. Equal protection for all requires equal protection for all, not greater protection for people in selected groups."

Angillion, that`s so ass-backwards. We should protect bullies and their victims equally? As soon as hate groups start being persecuted violently by their victims, then the law has the responsibility to protect them. As it stands, that isn`t the case.

Look back at racism decades ago when law and politics turned the other cheek, protecting KKK from retribution for their hate crimes. Interracial relations are still effected today.
Are you seriously presenting that as a valid interpretation of my post?

It would make more sense as an interpretation of your position.

You are arguing that law and politics should assign a higher status to people in certain groups.

I am arguing against that idea.

I think you`re projecting your own thought processes onto me.

You`re absolutely right. The reason hate crimes SHOULD come with a higher punishment is that they are not just directed personally toward the individual, but to the entire minority.

"Obviously, it isn`t. Equal protection for all requires equal protection for all, not greater protection for people in selected groups."
Angillion et. al, quite the opposite in fact. Hate crime laws prosecute an offender for hate/bias motivated crimes, crimes that are meant to send a message to the victimized groups. Obviously, it isn`t. Equal protection for all requires equal protection for all, not greater protection for people in selected groups.

Alternatively, it`s thoughtcrime because you`re imposing additional punishment because of what the perp thought.
And if you keep insisting that motive doesn`t matter in criminal cases, then you have to explain why Manslaughter is different from Murder in the 3rd Degree w/o consideration of it.
And you have to explain why the *same* crime is worse against people in some groups than against others.

Lesson? Learn to defend yourself! Bullies will ALWAYS find something to attack you for. So make sure you know how to defend yourself.

Really? I`m totally hetero and i have never hit anyone in my measely 37 years of living with you non-nice individuals. I had to endure this exact same poo just because i wasn`t in the same religious group like the rest of you. So, you think that you`re just better. stronger, more deserved to live in this planet? For once, think about the others like a true christian should, do what jesus would`ve done and give him you`re hand.

Yes, i`,m drawing the conclusion that you are white male christian, age 20-40. No one on this planet hates fellow humanbeing like white male christian. That`s the exact opposite of what JC told you to do by his own example. But no, you are just better, if they aren`t what you want us to be, you just rather kill us all. No one can touch anyone these days. You prosecute the offender and it upsets the offenders family who seek revenge. It`s a vicious circle. Teachers are scared to discipline kids for fear of the parents coming to school and kicking the crap out of them.
Bullies should be murdered. In cold blood, in front of the school. Thats a deterrent.
No more hate crime charges. Keep it at assault. No different from a straight kid getting his ass beat.
I agree. Hate crime law is based on the assumption that people in some groups are more important than people in other groups, which makes hate crime law innately discriminatory.

It might be different if the naming was accurate and it was hate that was the key factor, but it isn`t. They`re not saying that assault is worse if the attacker hates the victim - that would be true of the majority of assaults. The laws are actually "special treatment groups laws", not "hate crime laws".
Also, the school should do the punishing, not the police. (and yes 3 days is weak punishment)
Why not the police? Schools are not independent nations that aren`t subject to the laws of the country they`re in - they are part of that country.

This video is sickening, but I do agree with some people here that hate crimes shouldn`t exist. I would say the majority of violent attacks happen because someone hates another person, whether it be they are from the LGBT community, a different race, or the same race. That being said, that bully should either be expelled, or get time in juvie/jail. I agree with brassbull too, the kid definitely has the build of a football player, so that may have factored into the school decision, which is even more sickening.

Kids like him should get expelled on the spot. They don`t add anything to a stable learning environment. A three day suspension is just like the school saying "we honestly don`t give a damn if you beat the crap outta that kid, but his mom is making a fuss"

In the 6th grade I was attacked by larger student right in front of a teacher. It was obvious that he was the aggressor, it was even reported by the teacher that the other student attacked me. After getting hit in the face a few times, I decided to fight back. I put him in a headlock and punched him in the head once, then held him down so he couldn`t he me anymore.

The result: He had `In-School Suspension` for two weeks for assaulting me. I was kicked out of that school defending myself.

I am absolutely disgusted that school can be this magical place where kids can get a slap on the wrist for doing things that will get them arrested otherwise. Assault, battery, and drug possession are the top ones I can think of right now. Telling a kid (who probably doesn`t care about school in the first place) to not go to school for a few days is the most worthless punishment ever. If more of these hardasses ended up actually punished for what they`re doing, we wouldn`t be seeing this many cases of kids getting the living sh*t beaten out of them for rediculous reasons.

Gerry, out of every fight my school ever had the only one`s that had arrests and/or jailtime were ones involving a weapon like a knife (and one pencil stabbing. We had black and white kids fight all the time and it was never made racial unless it was actually racial and even then they don`t jail them or charge them with crimes unless it happens constantly. Suspend and call parents almost everytime.

However, I agree that as of yet gaybashing is not taken anywhere near as seriously as racial and sexist issues.

There is more going on than just this one incidence.

It the bully had hit on {excuse the phrase} anyone else, say a black guy or a girl, would the school give a 3 day suspention or would his ass be in jail that same day?

Gay bashing is a lesser crime it seems. That`s why most gay students who are beaten never tell the school or their parents. They don`t see that as any help. Certainly they can`t go to their preachers for guidance.

Actually more than likely the bully was trying to beat the gay out of himself. Same thing the self loathing gay church leader`s and people in congress do. They attack and attack gays hoping their own feelings will go away.

Bullies are part of the problem, but their the part of the problem that we cant fix, sadly.
The part of the problem that we CAN fix however, is everyone else. Ppl need to stop being such pussies, and actually take part.
If you see someone get beat up, ffs, go help him.
If you see a woman getting mugged, do something!

Yeah...instead of blaming the piece of crap kid who beat her son, she should blame herself and her son. Her son should take martial arts to learn how to defend himself...the results wont happen right away...

Are you effing serious? So...her son should go to martial arts classes and get beat up till he can beat up the bully and gain some self confidence?

Seriously....I have 15 years of Kung Fu classes under my belt, and there is NOTHING that can be taught to anyone in a week or a month that will stop this sort of thing from happening.

Maybe if nothing is being done, instead of blaming other people the mother of the teen being bullied should take a more proactive approach and get her son into some self defense classes or boxing/martial arts. I know the results won`t happen right away but at least the kid will gain some confidence & self esteem which he severely lacks. It will more than likely save his life in more ways then one, he will more than likely start standing up for himself which will definetley help as well as the fact with a little more self esteem he won`t end up as just another bullied teen suicide.

@RobSwindol - It was in-house suspension. They put me in a small filing room in the back of the library for three days. There were a tone of notes in there, all hidden, all giving clues to the location of the next note, and all left by previously suspended students. It was pretty entertaining as far as suspensions go.
