Nope. His parents should be punished for screwing his brain up too. A 2 year old has no business deciding what he/she wears.

Of course, they will have to pay for the therapy until he`s 18 anyway, so there`s some financial punishment.

I disagree that this kid can be described as `screwed up`, and that his parents somehow caused it. It`s either gonna be something he`ll grow out of, or he`s transgender, in which case he`s hard wired this way and it`s nature rather than nurture. As for joing the girl scouts, i suppose its up to the scout leader/the parents but at that age i cant see why it`d be an issue.

Pretty much confirms that sexuality is not a choice. He should be allowed to join but won`t because adults make the decisions and they are for the most part ignorant bigots.

Madest, if this is your evidence then you`re scraping the bottom of the barrel. How about genetic evidence, and other bits of scientific evidence instead of anecdotal dribble?

This is called an appeal to emotions, sub-fallacy Argumentum ad Misericordiam (appeal to pity). The counter-argument would use the same technique, although use the sub-fallacy of Argumentum ad Metum (appeal to fear - "they`re" all going to infect EVERYTHING).

In either case, Spoc says, "Stop being so illogical."

What about the actual girls in the girl scouts? I`m sure part of why they`re the "girl" scouts is because they want an environment free from males, perhaps because they are more comfortable that way. Even though the kid doesn`t seem to be a regular boy in any sense other than physiological, it still could make other girls in the program insecure, so I`d pick a different crusade for equality.

@madest; I completely agree, at 7 this kid isn`t thinking the same way as the adults are. From his prespective he just enjoys playing with dolls and dressing up as a girl and doesn`t see any reason why some people think it unacceptable for him to do that. turns out he`s since been allowed to join, which is great.

He`s going to hate his parents when he grows up and sees this. Yeah, he`s NOT thinking like the adults, he`s just a boy playing with dolls atm, and as soon as he gets to a grade in school where the "real boys" start making fun of him he`ll drop the dolls and girl scout vest REAL fast. Quick everyone, let`s start asking our two year olds their sexuality! Then let`s have them cook their own meals and take the dog for a walk around the block.

Look, white people came into existence from two black people one day. Red headed kids are birthed from Koreans. Why can`t a girl be born in a boys body? Nothing that odd about that anomoly. Our inability to understand and deal with it is.

madest: Why are you trying to peg this little boy (who still thinks girls are riddled with cooties regardless of dressing up as one) as a transgender or gay just because his mother lets him wear whatever he wants? When little boys are seven they also want to be dinosaurs and robots, WHY IS THERE NO SUPPORT FOR THE DINOSAURS TRAPPED IN A BOYS BODY???????

yep, it`s all down to the wonder of genetics; something which is pretty much irrefutable. Too much emphasis is put on what`s `normal` without considering that it`s not that black and white.

@Madest - so what you`re saying is that I, as a male, can dress up as a female, wear my hair as a female, even play with `female thing`s and it makes me female?

My girls like playing with my tools. Last night I was teaching my youngest daughter how to use a nail gun, and she liked it. She enjoys helping me out in the garage and probably knows the names and uses of more tools than most boys her age. She even has her own workbench in her room complete with nails, wrenches and hammers. Does that make her a boy?

ForSquirel: No no, she`s not a boy, she`s a boy trapped in a girls body, because at four years old children obviously have a clear understanding of sexuality and she wouldn`t want to go near those tools unless she was 100% "gender dysphoric". You should have already paid for her gender reassignment surgery, you are HOLDING HER BACK with your discrimination.

I`m not sure the kid is gender dismorphic, as he isn`t older enough to understand the concept of gender. When he`s older, and he does, then he`ll know. For now, he`s just a little boy who likes to play with dolls and dress up like a girl. There`s nothing unusual about that, and it`s no different to a little girl who likes cars and engines.

@leesah - I feel like such a bad dad. Please excuse me while I call the news and have them come over to do a story on me because I think my daughter wants to be a boy scout. I really hope no one thinks that`s weird.

Just saying, if this kid thinks he is a she then I see no problem. Maybe I missed that part in the video. But like people have said, at this young age does the kid really know? We are who we are plain and simple, but I think this is more of mom`s an attention whore.

I`m not saying that at all. I`m saying this kid has a better idea of who he or she is than you do. Forcing this kid to dress as a guy and play cowboys and indians will not make him happier. It will in fact make him depressed and set for a life of pharmeceutical pill popping.

A seven year old taking on the hypocrisy of feminism? Go little man! you are my new hero!!

and yess bitches i said hypocrisy, you want to have equal rights, you wan to play man sports and wear man clothes? you don`t like it when you are excluded becuase of your gender? equal rights means equal obligations. That means you do the same work as i do for the same money and don`t abuse your gender, that means you play in the same competition as i do and don`t use your gender as an excuse. and yess i`ll punch you in the face if you say something i would punch a guy in the face for. and yess that means you cannot exclude someone for their gender becuase it doesn`t suit you.
and if you don`t like it, Go make me a sandwich -->

@ForSquirel, It`s hard to say. When I was younger I loved (and I still do) helping my dad out with his car and fixing things around the house. I learned how to check and refill oil, anti-freeze, and washer fluid before my mother. My mom STILL doesn`t know how to do most of those things. But I am 100% woman. There was no doubt when I was a kid either. I could go from pumping gas into the car to playing with makeup and Barbies.
I also had a guy friend who played with me and my Barbies. I`m still friends with him, and he`s straight.

Leave the kid to get on with it- gender is not relevant for half the things we think it is- that child is a PERSON first- and may need gender eassignment later- or not- they are a tad young to care- but why Girl Scouts- not just scouts. It is us that has such an issue with gender- most kids do not care-- and neither should we...

Sure, why should he not be allowed to join? I remember a case here in Canada a while back: this woman took a case all the way to the Supreme Court so she could play on the boy`s hockey team, and she finally won.

The Girl Scouts are a private organization, so it should be up to them whether they allow this boy or not (as opposed to using the police to force them to allow someone in e.g. the case I described above).

I`ll give you an Orange, Societies view on gender/race/etc etc, shouldn`t define what you can or can`t do as an induvidual.

In this case age is irrelevant, as the boy wants to join the girl scouts. Since women wanted equal rigths and will march up and down with banners if they feel excluded becuase of their gender, they now need to suck it up and do their part for feminism.

How do you like them apples?

    @ MrOrange

Nice apples but take your orange and smoke it. No one lives outside of their own society. To oppose convention has consequences. In this case that kid will be getting his ass kicked regularly and it may not be in his best interest to encourage the behavior.

No, not styfle his natural orientation. But explain that some people will be mean and it`s best to keep pants on. Let him dress how he wants at home, but no pettycoats at school.

There are other kids clubs he can join besides Girl Scouts.

Wow. It`s amazing how most people seem to think in terms of black and white. A girl likes boyish things? She must be transgender. No, it takes much more than that to make a person transgender. Sometimes a tomboy is just a tomboy. I agree that it is much too soon to say if this little boy is a girl in a boys body, or just a girly boy. And really, who cares? Everybody should be able to find that out in their own time and in their own way. This is about him wanting to be in Girl scouts. If this private organization says he can be, and his parents say he can be, then let the boy be a Girl scout for drat sake. And if it upsets you that much, well that`s your problem isn`t it? Maybe you should try to ask yourself why it bothers you so much. The answer may surprise you!

you said he can`t becuase he is a boy so deal with it..
my argument was that he should be able to, thanks to feminism. that point stil stands.
Now to say it`s not going to be easy is a valid point, and i hope the parents did think about that long and hard, and if he is transgender i wish him lots of strenght, but in the end, you are free to make your choice, the consequence of that choice is for you.

It`s not illegal if they don`t call the police, and then it`s only disorderly conduct, basically you have to upset someone who`s in there, so if you go in and they say leave, you leave (Best to say oops, wrong room).

Unless it`s a gym bathroom with showers or a changing room, you`ll probably end up not wanting to go back.

What wonderful parents. Yes she will need therapy when she is older but won`t need nearly as much if the parents followed CrakrJak`s advice. I can`t imagine how horrible it would be to be born in the wrong body. Examples like this girl make me see that it is real. I get where people are coming from, God does not make mistakes so this is not real. But it is people. And God does make mistakes. Or does God do things like this to test our reactions? If so a lot of people are failing miserably.

I guess I forgot that people still have problems with issues like these. My neighbor told me recently that there was a girl in her son`s cub scout pack, and our high school has a female running back on the football team. None of this is news...and none of this requires a "viewer discretion is advised" caveat. If more parents were like these, this country would be much much happier and healthier..

This is why organisations such as girl scouts and boy scouts are doomed to fail in an ever increasingly tolerant society.

Is it a bad thing? hell no.

It just means we can`t be dividing people on the basis of gender anymore. Despite the fact that men will always be men and women will always be women (with some exceptions) we`re all human, and thats what currently matters in society.

Who knows, maybe one day we`ll let ducks join in with us in our mad endevour to control the world around us. But they`d have to agree to knock off all the raping first.

I have a solution to many problems. No charge!

    i) End segregation.
ii) Learn the difference between sex (biology) and gender (social constructs based on averages in a particular time and place).
iii) Learn that it`s not true that everyone is average in every way.

Apply those three things and the problems disappear.

It`s anchorMAN, not anchorLADY! And that is a scientific FACT!

    ABSOLUTELY TRUE!

    Etymology head on...

But since `man` is the Old English word for `person` and it only became male-specific a few decades ago, i.e. long after the compound word `anchorman` was created, `anchorman` must be sex-neutral.

    It`s a hobby of mine.

I want to join the NBA. I feel like I`m an NBA player trapped in a fat white guy`s body. I have been dressing like an NBA player for a long time. They are discriminating against me.

It`s the GIRL scouts. If he wants to join the Transvestite scouts he should be welcome to do so. Can`t a private club set its membership requirements?

"Can`t a private club set its membership requirements?"

Yes they can and the Girl Scout`s organization for that state said it is perfectly fine for this boy who identifies as a girl to join. It was already policy in the state.

No, I think the issue is the parents don`t have the guts to be parents and allow a child to make major decisions on his own when he is not properly
    equiped.

Really? Girls can join the boy scouts but not the other way around? Seems like a double standard to me. It always bothers me when socially progressive actions to increase equality only go one way.

If he wants to, I`m fine with it. I hated girl scouts when I was in it, but I loved tagging along with my brother`s boy scout troop. The leader had a daughter that`s my age and she went along too. No one had a problem with it. We weren`t official boy scout members but we were allowed to do everything with them.

Props to the Girl Scouts for being so open-minded, but it might be a very rough ride for this kid in an all-girl environment. No answers from this quarter.

Why? Bobby is a girl that was born with a boys body. It happens.

TruTenrMan said: "Girl Scouts. GIRL. A girl has a vagina. Does this BOY have a vagina? No. Therefore, he can`t be in the GIRL Scouts."

Nice try, but you`re wrong. I was born with an imperorate anus, which meant they had to perform an emergancy colostomy on me and I pooped through my stomach until they surgically constructed an anus. Now I poop just like everyone else. Bobby was born with the wrong equipment. Life happens.

He was born a male, is a male, but allowed to be a female. I dressed up like a girl when I was a little kid, it`s play time. He got confused and was never corrected.

My mom has a photo of me in a bikini at age six with chicken pox. If they don`t know there is a difference between playtime and real time, that`s the parents fault, it`s confusing to little kids.

I like that he has not been forced into the closet. The parents listened to him and didn`t force their beliefs on him. Awesome parents.

Now when it comes to him wanting to join the Girl Scouts, there is an issue. The exact same issue as : Which bathroom does a transgendered man use. He is a man, pees through his penis, but he acts and dresses like a woman, even calls himself Sheila, so he should use the woman`s. People may have issue if he goes into the women`s bathroom, as he doesn`t have a vajayjay.

I say let the boy join. The point of the Girl Scouts is not to make them Man Haters, it`s just fun things to do with kids who have the same interests as you. Clearly this boy`s intention is not to disrupt the girl`s fun, it`s to make friends who won`t beat him for being a "fag", which is likely to happen if he were to join the boy scouts.

I don`t like that I made it sound as if their beliefs were against it... I like that the parents didn`t make an issue out of it.

maybe I should elaborate...the boys in my troop were not gay or transgendered. They were little brothers of some of the girls and Girl Scout presence in my town was more stable than the Boy Scouts. Girls Scouts had stable troops while the boy scouts could go years without a leader or meetings.
