That level of racism just would not be tolerated where I live.

    So what?
It`s natural people don`t like outsiders, it`s normal.
Just as I don`t like the swams of Mexicans coming into the U.S. and I totally understand why Native Americans don`t like whites. Just as I`m sure Aborigini don`t like the Australian whites, etc.

The Germans have a racial link to the land. I didnt` see anyone beating them up for being black, just people who don`t want to socialize with them.

Racism exists!?! Really? Shocking news. Now take a white guy and send him through Somalia, Nigeria, or Sierra Leone; Of course he`ll find generous acceptance with the local populace, right?

That was really sad. I bet it is just a regional thing though. If this was filmed in America you would have a harder time getting footage like that in Seattle, but in the South you would have hours of racism to sort through.

So.... why did a white guy have to dress up in black face to do this?

He ended up looking crazy. I wouldn`t want to associate with him either.

I could recommend reading Günter Walraffs book "Aus der schönen neuen Welt" I don`t know if it has been translated in English. It also addresses the life of "homeless" people in Germany, factory workers and helpdesk employees.

You call racism "not wanting to socialize"... I`m speechless. If you consider the behaviour shown in the film as "not wanting to socialize" you totally lack empathy. This has nothing to do with racial linkage or what have you, Germany is a modern and mixed country where most people can value their national pride without excluding the "foreign" elements.

You call racism "not wanting to socialize"...
No, You call it racism. I call it not wanting to socialize.

People naturally gather with their own kind. In every city in the U.S. there`s a hispanic section, a black section, the gay part of town, and others. It`s their "communities".

Only when it`s a white neighborhood do people call it "racism".

This movie wasn`t about ethnicities gathering together, but more about how white people in Germany can respond to a black man.

You are right in saying that people have tendency to stick with their own "kind". That`s not what I call racism, neither am I saying it is wrong to have your "own" community. It`s racism when you exclude people in public interaction just because they`re different.

That is not a matter of not wanting to socialize, that is valuing someone based upon appearances. It`s not within the "privacy" of their own community, it`s a public affair and different standards should be held.

P.S.: Apologies if my English isn`t perfect.

That guy was pretty weird looking. Why didn`t they just get a black guy to do this? Then people wouldn`t be freaked out that he looked like an old German who lost a fist-fight with a bucket of dark brown paint.

Still watching this movie, but I just wanted to point out, mixed (black and white) women are easily the most attractive women on the planet. There are other race mixes that look horrible, but the Halle Berry`s are actually fairly common.

This is essentially the only reason I don`t like racism.

Oh, and when it leads to murder. That`s not cool either. But stuff like this, most of the black guys I know either suck it up and not bother complaining, or say "frack it" and call this activity out immediately when it happens.

    More mocha babies please.

Perhaps old Germans are afraid of black people, but the way this was set up would make most people scared anyways. He was a white person painted black, and so whenever he came near someone, that person subconsciously noticed something was off, since he didn`t look "right" because he wasn`t naturally black. This reaction in people automatically triggered a reaction in the brain saying, "danger, danger, something is wrong!" causing these people to suddenly feel immense fear and make them want to leave to get away from the unusual situation. This is the same reaction that has saved numerous lives in both the modern day world and throughout history.

Next time use a real black man. Derp.

He still looked white and still he moved white.

It`s something I noticed as a child, different races move differently. It`s subtle, but black people tend to make rounder/cooler movements, whites are panicky/fidgety, and Asians are meticulous.

@Scuziod: beauty is subjective. Personally, I don`t consider your "mocca" attractive. If we`re talking mixed races, I`m all for Asian and Caucasian. If we`re talking in general, I`m all for pure Slavic gene pool. I`ve enjoyed my share of traveling and when it comes to beautiful women, I`d say Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Russia etc. have the best looking women. As well as a favorable beauty/not so much of a beauty ratio.

Odd...let a black club tell a white boy that he isn`t getting in, and everything is hunky-dory. Don`t see me strapping a camera to my ass to record it. This won`t help anything.

I honestly don`t know why there`s so much aggression towards the guy. Black folk are historically extremely tolerant, and more than willing to adapt to their environment. When was the last time you saw a black person making trouble?
Face it: you haven`t, have you? Name me ONE time!
    You can`t, can you?
Actually they guy looked exactly what he was....a white guy blacked up. For the sake of our American cousins, I`m being ironic.

But the Germans have always been known as such an open minded and unjudgemental people who love peoples of all walks of life. I`m surprised!

It doesn`t help that they didn`t just make him a black guy, but a black guy who looks like some stereotype from a 1970s movie complete with 70s clothes, afro and moustache.

I agree, these people are only being realistic. The camping guy has a business, he cant accept blacks if all his other patrons will leave...its harsh towards blacks, but then maybe they should choose somewhere else to live if they are going to get that treatment. There are far nicer places to live than that

seeing this makes me feel strange since blatant racism like this is fairly rare in west germany, where i was born and raised as a german-italian (with very pale skin, to be fair) and this dude is frequenting former ddr, remember that. these people lived with closed borders until 22 years ago, and nowadays they have the highest unemployment rate paired with the lowest rate of high school graduates, lowest rate of foreigners (now why is that?) etc. when i went to school there were at least 3 foreign kids out of 30 kids in every class, not counting half germans like myself. I didn´t even realize this kind of racism is a actual thing in germany but this new insight just makes me feel bad. now i live in finland and still hugely profit from being white, since people are friendlier with me than with dark skinned people seeking refugee from war in their home countries, and "we" germans burned half their country back in ww2. People from homogenous areas--with no multi-cultural experience--treat foreigners like this. Some don`t act like such big jackholes, some do. Almost anyone--regardless of ethnicity/race--will experience this if put in a similar situation. Big cities don`t count.

Haha, amusing. For people who dont live in North/West Europe, here whats up. The common people in Germany, Holland, Scandinavia, and most West Europe in general are extremely uptight & closed minded, beyond what you can comprehend if you are from a rambunctious chaotic fun loving country. They are the ones your uptight American WASPS are desceneded from, and the root of all caricatures of whites as tightly wound stiffs. These people are peasants, not far removed from the middle ages in temperment and level of culture. They dont like anyone or anything really. Just frustrated all around. I pity any fun loving southerner doomed to live amongst them, boredom is your fate, at best. Racism is the smallest of your worries. I lived this for 15 years, my neighbour was a murderous (really) skinhead facist hooligan, but he was cool to me cause we was neighbours and his pitbulls liked me. Traveling through north west Germany in small villages you can still find vintage Nazi commemorative post
