Not believing in something doesn`t require faith. It requires denial at its worst, but that doesn`t apply to atheism, because there is not a single shred of evidence for the existence of god, and tons of evidence against the existence of particular gods (like the god of the bible: a lot of things he allegedly did did not happen, like the creation myth, so we must conclude that that god doesn`t exist).
Does it take as much faith to believe in unicorns as not believing in them? Disbelief in unicors requires no faith, and neither does not believing in god.

>>>Doesn`t it take just as much strength to say "There is no God" as "I believe there is a god?" An atheist needs just as much faith as a believer in God, not just a Christian.<<<

I agree both beliefs are acts of faith. Now I happen to believe my particular belief is more self consistent that the opposing belief, but in the end it is just faith.

>>The crazys you find in any religion are all of them, not just a select few. Keep your fake god out of government and my life. <<,

Really? When have I "put my god in your life?" Can you point to the place where I do not look to logic and science? You "preach" tolerance and morals, yet you seem to willingly be able to call another person names and ignore his or her just because of your perception of a single part of their makeup. Who is the intolerant / amoral one here?

Get it straight people:
hating other races = bad
hating other genders = bad
hating religions = OK
hating christianity = good

My best friend is agnostic. But I reeeally cant stand you atheists who have a stick up your ass about what people believe. People will believe what they believe is right, get over it.

The more I grow away from faith, the better. I understand jesus was a fake and the bible is a fairy tale. All the commandments are useless because I have morals and don`t need to read them off of a stone tablet (or a tablet PC for that matter). I don`t care how a fake god expects me to act, and neither do the christians obviously. Religion = useless, all of them. The crazys you find in any religion are all of them, not just a select few. Keep your fake god out of government and my life. If there is an important conversation happening, your god has no place in it. Look to logic and science and shed the confines of your wasted religious life of kneeling to a god that never answers you. Mostly because he is fake.

The more I grow in faith the more I am coming to understand the answer Jesus gave the Sadducees and the Pharisees. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Too often Christian’s forget that God expects us to behave in a fashion that shows love of our fellow man. So while she may have misinterpreted or be a little too legalistic with her reading she is basically correct that some, often the most vocal, Christians do ignore what Jesus said. However, I would ask you this, just as we should not judge all Islam or Muslims based on the actions of a few idiots, why do you judge Christians based on the actions of similar idiots?

The "eye of the needle" verse has been taken out of context. It is less about being rich, and more about men trying to save themselves. The basic meaning ans idea with this verse, is give God just a small opening, and He can pass something large through it. It is more of a play on how salvation cannot be achieved by mankind, as opposed to wealth being a hindrance.

`It is harder for a rich man to enter the gates of heaven than it is to fit a camel through the eye of a needle,`

Its not that hard to put a camel through the eye of a needle.

You could for arguments sake take a fertislised camel egg, and pass that through the eye of a needle.

Or of course, you could just build a fecking big needle....

"@splurbyburbl, no, you just sound like a dick."

Lol, YES... and I am a dick. In all my posts I am a complete non-nice individual... this is an undeniable truth. But see, at least I know it and own up to it. I have never denied it. Unlike all religious people who do not own it and absolutely fail to see the reality that is right in front of their faces every waking moment of their pathetic lives.

As a strong Christian, I can admit that many points she made are correct, but her verses on selfishness were taken out of context. And I don`t think anyone asks for war in America.

It`s funny because it`s true. It`s sad because the only people who will listen are the ones already in the know.

"This isn`t really a point for the atheists. Critically and purposefully misreading select passages of the Bible in a bitchy voice doesn`t really prove anything."

Whatever helps you sleep at night. You know, I was just with a Navy chick last night teaching her a new workout routine and she asked the best way to warm the muscles up before working out. I told her working out warms the muscles up. In other words... warming the muscles up warms the muscles up. What I mean is... Aside from the fact that these points actually do in fact make very valid points, it doesn`t really need to. Everyone except for religious people know that religious people are drating batpoo insane. Why? Because religion is batpoo insane. Oh wahtever- I don`t even know if my rambling is making sense anymore. Hey! I sound like one of those crazy christians!!

This isn`t really a point for the atheists. Critically and purposefully misreading select passages of the Bible in a bitchy voice doesn`t really prove anything. Are there valid critiques to be made of those who call themselves Christians but don`t live up to the ideals of Christianity? Certainly. Does she make these valid critiques? eh - only sort of.
