These OWS protestors are just a bunch of degenerates trying to be somebody. They just want to matter, and they don`t. They`re just a bunch of dirty hippies wanting attention.

I understand that they`re distraught over the growing income disparity in the United States. However, the crisis we are in can`t be solved by the people on Wall Street. If they have some real prescriptions for what should be done, I would like to know what they are. All I`m hearing now is, "Wah wah wah, I`m so impoverished because I have no skills. Please feel sorry for me and tell me that I matter."

My brothers neighbor went to OWS last week. She`s a pothead who can`t hold down a job because she won`t go to work. She says someday she`s going to be a doctor, but she has no education and it`s impossibe to hold an intelligent conversation with her. I doubt she`s far from the norm.

@Mizzez2Fresh

Hahaha, Mizzez, you are so mad right now and I love how you`re broadcasting it to IAB.

I hope you felt really good when you made your post, because you`ve just made a mockery of yourself, or- as you put it- "trolled yourself."

You`ll come to realise that a majority of IAB finds Gerry`s posts insightful an humorous, and, frankly, IAB wouldn`t feel the same to me without him.

Why don`t you go pick on someone your own age and caliber. I`ll give you a hint, you`re better off picking on little kids. Slack jaw.

Some simply will not
But they`ll complain and complain and complain and complain and complain."

Ya know what? Heres the whole song.

@Baalthazhaq Precisely, you teach them the issue and let them form their opinions not teach your opinions on the issues.

and Mizzez2fresh I`m really just...at a loss of words at.....your! unprovoked....attack on Gerry;;....I know it....doesn`t!...hurt him having you throwing around "jeezoh"s...AND! ..."gawddamn"s ...It only makes you....seem uneducated and.....unable to have a civil discussion....in addition...to your grammar hahahahahahaha!?!... If you truly wish to leave this world because of Gerry posts on here then all the better for the world.

The rest of you:
indoctrination

Teaching or inculcating a doctrine, principle, or ideology, **ESPECIALLY** one with a specific point of view

Nowadays everyone expects the special specific point of view definition. It doesn`t explicitly imply only one point of view but does allude to the possibility. Simply screaming indoctrination at things does nothing.

Archer, just commenting on your choice of words. In this case, you chose the word "indoctrination" which has a negative conotation. Technically, the definition is not bad, but the use in popular culture indicates wrong teaching or brain washing.

Again, I just noted your choice of words.
Interesting.

@Gerry: ""HA! If you agree with it you say the parents are teaching their kids values and educating them. When you don`t like it it`s "INDOCTRINATION"!!! OOOOOO!"

I never said one was better than the other. You`re putting words in my mouth and dropping contexts.

Steelgrid, aren`t `morals` just a belief?
You believe something is moral, someone else may believe it is not.

Or as Obiwan said, "You`re going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." Reality {and Morality} is a choice.

I`m sure it has been mentioned..... But you can get your toddlers to repeat any damn thing you want them to and they will gladly comply because you think its funny, and they like making people laugh.

Not funny.

Or simple Morals.

Kids just repeat things they heard their parents say.. This just shows what their parents think.

"Don`t steal" - Value
"Hate the people I hate" - Insufferable induction into ignorance.

Yes, it is totally possible to differentiate between the two, and call one thing propaganda, and call the other information.

If it was an OWS protester teaching her child to hate the bankers, with an uninformed jingoistic catchphrase, it`s the same thing.

It is also possible to genuinely inform.

I`ve always told kids I`ve raised what I think, and that it`s my opinion, and why. I`ve told them what the opposing side is, and why too, and if it`s so mindbogglingly stupid that their actions cannot be reasoned, then I`ll tell the kid to go ask them.

Then again I get a perverse amount of joy watching the mindbogglingly stupid struggle to explain their ideas under a 5 year old`s scrutiny.

Your license to reproduce is hereby revoked.
That is one of the biggest pin-head statements I`ve seen here at IAB. And that`s saying something when you consider how many pin-head statements I`ve personally made here!

We wouldn`t want to `indoctrinate` our kids to believe that steeling is wrong. And they should be free to explore bullying as a valid lifestyle, unhindered by a belief that it`s wrong to hurt people.

Most of the rules be live by are governed by `belief` not fact or natural law.

"HA! If you agree with it you say the parents are teaching their kids values and educating them. When you don`t like it it`s "INDOCTRINATION"!!! OOOOOO!"

That is spot on. It reminds me of the freakout conservatives had over the scary negro president talking to their children. And then the teacher who freaked out the most took his class to see Bush speak.

You shouldn`t indoctrinate your kids into any belief system, even if that`s a tall order. Give them the facts, explain the different viewpoints, and when they`re old enough they can yell "Dirty hippies!" from their own car.

You just HAD to tell them what the kid says!
You couldn`t let the punchline fall at the end of the joke.

I bet you guys are just a hoot at parties.
