@Oystah, I have no idea what the benefits for disability are in America, but the problem isn`t in giving disabled people what they need to live, the problem comes from , as you mention, doctors who are too willing to sign off on it.
Cutting back on benefits will only hurt people who really need it.

@DirtySteve - Calm down - when did I ever say I was an expert on anything? It`s just my personal opinion. But I can tell you, right this second, I could go to my doctor and get a leave of absence from my job due to mental stress. You can get Xanax, Prozac and Wellbutrin without anything more than an office visit. When the benefits being offered for being mentally disabled are roughly the same as a 40 hour minimum wage job, where`s the incentive?

@Fleaman - if your brother had a doctor that didn`t consider COPD a disability, he should have seen another doctor. And if you haven`t found a "decent" job in 15 years because you didn`t go to college - how about two okay jobs? I worked full-time at a crappy job during the week and a part-time job on the weekends, and went to school at night four nights a week four seven years. It can be done - it wasn`t easy, but it can be done.

@Oystah Good to see an expert on disability here.
Do you really think people with mental disabilities are having a great life full of `free shizz`?
The reason people are getting diagnosed with these problems more, is that we`re slowly starting to accept that these problems are real, and have often been misdiagnosed.
You`re reaction is the typical unsustainable, poorly though out poo we see on internet forums.

@Oystah my brother has COPD, he is only 30 (now) but when he started trying to get on disability because he couldnt work/pay for the expensive meds he needs to survive, the doctors said EXACTLY what you are saying. that he is fine, he has nothing wrong with him. he should quit being a pussy and start working harder. the following year his lungs collapsed and he almost died. he has been disabled since. just because you THINK you know everything doesnt mean you DO. ive been looking for a decent job for over 15 years, but because i didnt go to college i cant get one, now what are you gonna say? that im not trying hard enough? blow it out your ass.

Blah - first term is all about securing second term so who cares what he says because it`s all a bunch of BS, what you want to hear, yakety-yak- bleep-bloop-blop and in the end it makes no sense and nothing changes. Our people are complacent and unmotivated and unwilling to work hard, they want everything handed to them and they basically are getting tons of free shizz with their bitching and whining and mental health and disability issues starting in their TWENTIES. The only thing he could do to help is cut back on all the free shizz and make able-bodied people start being accountable for their own life circumstances, stop sucking off the workforce and join into it.

Ugh. Damn this is unpleasant.

He`s not been doing a good job, that`s for sure, with all his compromising and bickering.

Approval ratings low, loosing support. Yet would you vote for a complete moron like Bachman to replace him? It is the american people that are f*cked here. Ineffective representation.

I believe you`ve reached a tipping point. It`s not like there`s another democratic candidate that can take his place. Is there? Or is that not how it works?

I want to see a Jon Stewart/Steven Colbert Presidency. I can`t say they`d do any better than anyone else, but they`d be a lot more entertaining to watch.

I really don`t care. Unless we can rig our system to get Schwarzenegger vs Colbert, I don`t give two poos about politics.

Honestly? I think the guy has finally gotten a feel for the job. I love how every weekend president here could do it 100 times better... when they are sitting in a chair in front of a computer.

See Obama, this is what happens when you:
Cut spending.
Cut taxes on the wealthy.
Side with businesses on the environment.
Are stronger on immigrants than the Republicans.
Etc.

The Republicans will NEVER vote for you. They think you`re a socialist, and they don`t even know what the word means.

You squandered your base trying to compromise with people who hate you because they`re told to, and they don`t even understand that the policies in place are theirs.

From a discussion yesterday, where I said "Socialism is defined as X. This isn`t socialism".

Response?
"Irrespective of what is, or isn`t socialism. It`s socialism."

Republican mindset 101.

The blame Bush wagon is getting overloaded, how about we blame congress for a change?

@Bravosmith, The President is largely powerless to fix the mess left by the previous administration, much less the global economic downturn and recession that most of us are more concerned about.
People seriously underestimate what a poo-hole our economy is in because of money`s influence in our politics. This is not a Republican or Democratic problem, it`s an issue of living in a plutocracy thinly disguised as a democracy.
Nothing will change the course of our nation until we change how much influence the wealthy have in Washington DC.

Umm, yeah. He`ll spend most of the time blaming George Bush. Everyone accepts Bush left us a mess, but its been Barry`s job to fix it and he hasn`t done anything to improve things... only make things worse.

Wait just a minute. The Washington Post is not a "left leaning" newspaper (if there even is such a thing). It is seen as such because of great reporting that brought down a republican president. I may be biased because I`ve read every issue of the Washington Post since I was 9 but I can assure you their journalistic integrity is intact for they have been equally as probing on every democratic president.

About the speech though. My president seems to be speaking my mind.

"The Washington Post endorsed Obama for POTUS in 2008. It`s also a Democratic-leaning newspaper.

But why would anyone want to actually read or look into the facts?"

Since when is an Opinion Piece based in facts? Fail.

I come here to view content on this site, not to be redirected to another website that, if I wanted to visit, I would visit voluntarily.

obama is trash. democrats and rupublicans are trash. theyre all corrupt and care nothing for the working people of this country. as we see everyday by the steady outflow of job after job to slave labor countries. why bother posting political garbage? that and religion just start fights.

It should also be noted that the I-A-B headline came from The Washington Post that the photo links too.

The Washington Post endorsed Obama for POTUS in 2008. It`s also a Democratic-leaning newspaper.

But why would anyone want to actually read or look into the facts?

re: calling Barry Barry. It`s funny. Every president has nicknames. Tricky Dick, Slick Willie, etc.

Stop being f-ing babies.

Calling the president Barry is really disrespectful. By now we all know that you dislike Obama, but I-Am-Bored is supposed to be an entertainment website not a forum for you to voice your political opinions.

He`s taking a mighty beating? by who? the republicans? The same republicans that got the US into the economic state it is in now, and STILL wants to get you in recession even more. SImply because the rich people that head the party, hate obama?

I-a-b is gettng worse and worse each and every day.
