"Thanks for telling me that since I don`t believe in gay marriage, that it`s NOT a prejudice."

It`s not a prejudice, it`s like not believing in hats. Both clearly exist.

That`s good to hear Crakrjak. I`ve been working hard to do the same thing. We both slip up but I`ve noticed a difference in both our behaviors - for the better. Being partisan is so negative. Case in point my last comment; it was such a dickish loaded statement. I`m just going to go ahead and apologize for that one.

markust: I actually try to avoid commenting on several liberal topics here, but then somebody mentions my nick or says something monumentally stupid and then feel I have to rebut their BS.

Crakrjak, you know for something you don`t believe in you sure do spend an awful lot of time thinking about it. If there is something gay on IAB you are sure to be all over it with a wide stance.

@Heureux

Nice attempt at deflection by twisting the point, but I wasn`t talking about terrorism in general. My bumper sticker talks specifically about -RELIGIOUS- terrorism; and yes, atheism is the ultimate cure for that.

I am not prejudiced against Christians.
Prejudice - [prej-uh-dis] - noun:
1. an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.
2. any preconceived opinion or feeling, either favorable or unfavorable.

My opinion of Christians, and all religious folks, is not uneducated, preconceived or arbitrary. I grew up in the church and, eventually, grew out of it.

We rationalists (atheists) simply ask for proof of your assertions. Disregarding personal experiences and anecdotal "evidence" does not equal prejudice. Get over your persecution complex, already. If you can`t empirically prove your claims then those claims deserve no respect or validation.

Deal with it.

"It is, when what you refuse to believe is the personal testimony of most of humanity about their experiences."

Most of humanity has not believed in whatever religion you believe in.

"Atheism is a prejudice, and the denials of atheists are as meaningful as the denials of homophobes and racists. "

You should check out the definition of the word prejudice. It doesn`t really apply here and the word is not as inherently evil as you seem to think it is.

"I don`t believe in gay marriage, that it`s NOT a prejudice."

True, it is not prejudice. But is also odd because you can actually go see a gay marriage happen is some states.

And the idea that all atheist think that all wars come from religion is a stereotype..I am offended. =)

"It is, when what you refuse to believe is the personal testimony of most of humanity about their experiences. It is when you blame war on religion, as if only religious people engage in war, or religion were the cause or only reason for war.

Atheism is a prejudice, and the denials of atheists are as meaningful as the denials of homophobes and racists. "

Refusing to believe someones testimony is not prejudice.

9/11, the war with Terrorists, is based on the Muslim religion (the terrorists do it for religious reasons). Palestine vs Israel is entirely based on religion.

"Facts just dont sit well with you people."

This statement is an example of prejudice, and it validates the assertion of fact: atheism is a prejudice.

Thanks for telling me that since I don`t believe in gay marriage, that it`s NOT a prejudice. I also don`t believe atheists should be posting stupid trolls on IAB either.

""Atheism cures religious terrorism."

Atheism is a prejudice, like racism and homophobia and sexism, as both your bumper stickers demonstrate.

What, by the way, cured the terrorism of the Stasi?
"

Not believing in something is NOT prejudice. You know what happens when you tell a bunch of atheists to go kill some people in the name of god? Nothing, kinda like what happened when gays were let into the military and were also allowed to marry....NOTHING HAPPENED...

So yes, atheism is the cure to religious terrorism.

"Even if normal sex was available to them, they`d still prey on kids."

Yep.

Most pedophiles self-identify as heterosexual, and the greatest risk of sexual molestation for kids is from their own parents. It is extremely common for pedophiles to molest their own children exclusively.

Bumper stickers are for annoying non-nice individuals who seem to think that bragging about their kids and pets is more important than learning how to actually drive.

I`ve always thought maybe the `cause and effect` that people connect here is backwards. The church doesn`t make people sickos, but it certainly does attract them. All they have to do is memorize most of one book, lie while taking some vows and be able to talk in a soothing voice, and large numbers of people are going to trust you with their kids without question.

Repealing celibacy rules won`t do a whit of difference against someone who went into the church with the intent of creating opportunities to molest children.

I did chuckle a little at the sticker, though.

Wow, that must have been some Pope. Were the concubines green with bolts in their necks? Or were they androids made with alien technology?

pedophiles are pedophiles regardless of marital status. If it was a matter of him being horney they`d get hookers. Even if normal sex was available to them, they`d still prey on kids.

The church of today isn`t the problem. Way back when, the Pope decided that he didn`t want to pay out a pension for widowers and orphans of dead priests; after all, church is a business, one that was huge then. But then said Pope built concubines in Vatican City to appease his own lust.

But back on topic, I`ve always thought that if they repealed the celibacy rules of the church, there would be far less molestation.

Link works fine for me. As for aints, absence makes the heart grow fonder. fondling is a synonym for grope or molest, I suppose. Basically its a clever way of referring to the amount of church figures who molest children, linking it to the way they took a vow of abstinence. (not having sex) That`s what i got out of it anyway.
