@Batmanners The C6 is an "upgrade" to a M60, just as a C7 is to an H-bar M-16. The chrome lined barrel, in addition to the adjustable gas valve can allow for up to 1000rpm, but that is a cyclic rate of fire, and taxing to the gun

The purpose of machine gun fire from a fixed defensive position is area of effect. The bullets form a beaten zone, or kill zone. Accuracy is not really a factor as you are not aiming at individual targets. This is defensive fire in the "SF" role (anchored tripod with a triangulating sight apparatus.)

The rule in my day was change barrel after 440 rounds. This is not practical for actual combat, and I have personally put 660 rounds of cyclic fire down a barrel and only had it glow dull red, not hot enough to damage the barrel. Because the gun uses a fixed firing pin, and almost solid bolt, they don`t gum up that badly.

5 round bursts are best. I used the rate of fire as an example for why .50mg are not norm

Kalimata: You said C6. Americans, and the rest of the world aren`t familiar with that term. I think the equivalent is the M60 (FN MAG).

And my memory recalls 700+ rounds per minute from that weapon, not 1000+. Which I think is the same firing rate as an M16/C7.

To boot, it doesn`t matter how fast your weapon can shoot, no smart person ever just holds down the trigger and empties mag after mag. It`s short bursts, otherwise your barrel could warp and your firing mechanism could jam and your bullets would go off flying all over the place as you don`t aim as well when firing full-auto.

Anyways, I hate guns, so I`mma shut up about this now.

Oh come on, it was funny, blowing up the porta-crapper. Of course it was rigged, but still funny.

@Sunday Other than sniper work, a .50 round is ant-material. In warfare, the optimum effect of a bullet is to wound the enemy, not kill them. For every wounded man, it takes two to carry him from the battlefield, and many M.D.s and material resources to care for him, thus depleting the enemy`s capacity to make war. That is why many of the modern assault weapons use a 5.56 FMJ round, a low caliber-high velocity round. It will enter the body and either exit intact, or ricochet off of bones, causing internal damage, but not necessarily killing. Anti-material, anti-vehicle, yes, but really vs personnel, you are much better off with a 7.62 GPMG. People don`t really realize how bloody slow a Browning .50 HMG really is, about 400rpm as opposed to the upwards of 1000rpm of a C6 GPMG.

UM rydel I think he said he was 1000m away from the jug. It looked like maybe 20-30m away from the truck and porta-john. A bullet is gonna lose some force in that distance.

OMG.
what a stupid fake... portable loo and a car exploded to small pieces in one shot and a bottle of liquid took three shots to destroy?
what kind of ammo was it?
it smells, people.

@Ozmose Thanks.

@TDK_Master I was saying that the percentage of the bullet`s total energy transferred to a human is less than a smaller ciliber that doesn`t leave the body, thus all the energy of the bullet goes into the body, or those dum-dum rounds design for hurting as badly as possible. I do agree that it wouldn`t be frowned upon, but under normal circumstances I wouldn`t think it would be depoloyed except, as McGovern said, for long range targets where the bullet needs to have that much energy to go that far or for targets under heavy cover. On R. Lee Ermy`s History channel program I swear I thought they said anti-materials (vs anti-personel)

@McGovern In gameplay it`s either no bullet can penetrate a suface, or any bullet can with a damage penalty. So, if a cover is thick enough to totally block a pistol shot, a .50 cal won`t do ANY damage either. It`s totaly necessary for fun, balanced gameplay, but still a little silly, especially when the apply it to, say, th

The .50 cal has been use on people.The worlds longest sniper shot was with a .50 cal not to mention it turns cover like concrete walls into shrapnel.

sunday_scour, I`m not entirely sure, but I think you just said a .50 cal rifle won`t do much damage to a human? You are a silly, silly man if that is what you said. hit a person with a .50 and seriously whatever you hit, it`s not going to be attached to the person anymore. But yes you make a good point that using a smaller weapon vs. a human is much more cost efficient. But in a pinch, i`m sure using a large weapon wouldn`t be frowned upon.

.338 Lapua is an amazing round. I would love to have a gun chambered in it, but I could never afford to shoot the damn thing. The bullets themselves are solid machined copper. Even doing it on the cheap by reloading you`re looking at about $45 every time you pull the trigger.

@sunday_scour
The designation for the semi-auto Barret the US military assigned is the M82A1.

The thing with fake firearm capabilities that bugs me the most is the use, how ever cool it may be, of a fifty caliber Barret rifle to shoot people. It is an anti-materials weapon (I forget the exact designation) used to disable, say, a TANK. R. Lee Ermy showed how a hardened round could easily punch a perfectly round hole through one inch thick mild steel. As a former structural steel fabricator, I`m impressed. Such a bullet would, abviously, not convey a lot of energy to a squishy human target as it passes through flesh like a bb through a thick fog. If the energy of such a bullet were completely absorbed by the human body it would literally EXPLODE! Also, such eqipment is way too expensive to deploy en masse when even a small inexpensive pistol can fataly wound a person.

It isn`t the rifle causing the explosions. The things he shoots are filled with Tannerite. It is a compound that explodes violently when pierced by a high velocity bullet.

I still think this guy rules though.
