guide to not getting tased: step one: listen to the cop. step two: don`t run from cops.

I personally think that he did what he was supposed to do. People and the kids they raise do not have respect for a police officer and other authority figures. If the authority figure is wrong, do as they say and point it out when you get to the station. Don`t run away and then complain when they used force that they are allowed to use. It`s called an accident, I`m sure the officer didn`t mean to aim for her head. Besides, the barb didn`t do all that damage, the surgery did.

Than why they hell did you bring her to the police station if you didn`t want them to shoot her? Really it`s parents fault for not being able to deal with their child and thinking the cops should handle it.

I`m guessing he didn`t aim for her head, but rather since she was some distance away it just happened to hit there. I can`t see those things being accurate beyond maybe 10 feet away. Every video I`ve seen of them they spread out the further away the target is.

Since she hadn`t actually done anything illegal, this was completely uncalled for.

I have no problem with the fact that he tased her, but in the head? I`m not sure how tasers work or if you can aim them or anything, but it seems to me he should aimed lower if possible. Tase her in the back, the leg, somewhere other than the head.

LOL, I`m just playing that was TOTALLY excessive, hahaha. I hope he goes to jail.

tased in the skull...seriously?

"I would guess the laceration is from her skull hitting the ground, not from the taser."

The laceration on her head is from her having to undergo surgery to have the barb removed from her skull.

my friend had his backpack illegally searched, then was tazed in the bottom back of the head, right on the brainstem. the police who did it took him to a local hospital themselves and waited in the room until his heartbeat finally dropped two hours later, then had him released from the hospital. granted he was blackout drunk at the time. he never pressed charges becuase he had over an ounce of raw mdma in his backpack which he never got charged for.

If he`d tackled her they`d complain it was excessive. If he touched her in any way the libretards would be crying foul!

If the police say "stop" you bloody well STOP or they will stop you. This is common knowledge that even an ignorant, spoiled 14 year old slut should know.

I`m a dedicated cop hater, but not in this case.

This is so awful :( Granted she shouldn`t have sent the pics or hit her mom. But why the hell didn`t the mother handle this at home? Why are parents so afraid to be f&%king parents? Take her damn phone away, shut off her texting, SOMETHING, other than taking her 14 year old to the POLICE.

"I would venture to guess that the taser barb impacted the skull at an angle and caused a laceration, due to injuries "

I would guess the laceration is from her skull hitting the ground, not from the taser.

Any post here involving someone getting hurt or abused always seem to bring out peoples tru colors. Whats wrong with ya`ll? So full of hatered that you are all so pleased when others are caused to suffer? Always argueing over whos fault it is, who started it, over who is such a dumb-ass that they deserved it. I pray we dont all get what we deserve, this is a raggedy bunch of first-stone casters right here on IAB.

Couldn`t he have just chased and tackled her instead of electrocuting her brains? She`s a 14 yr old girl and hes a grown man...

@Vimto I`m not a scientist nor a mathematician but I`ll do my best to answer your question.

A taser prong weighs approximately 12 grams, or 192 Grains.

The peak velocity at which they travel is around 60 fps

With those variables in mind you can calculate the projectile hitting its target with about 2 foot pounds. That is assuming its a flat projectile though. A taser probe is very similar to a small finishing nail AND has barbs sticking out to ensure it doesn`t fall out. factoring in the size of the point of impact you`re looking at about 30 foot pounds of force.

where her injury was is a relatively weak part of the skull, and on average it takes about 30-60 pounds of pressure to fracture a human skull.

it is "possible" to have a taser barb pierce the skull, but extremely unlikely. It is a one in a million shot. I would venture to guess that the taser barb impacted the skull at an angle and caused a laceration, due to injuries

She`s fourteen you dumb cu/nts. She isn`t an adult, all of you idiots have done stupid stuff when you were younger. It was a situation that went worse then it should have, she didn`t deserve that. You don`t taze a fourteen year old. that cop could have easily caught up with her and pulled her down; Instead he was too lazy and used the easy way. Now she probably has brain damage and will have that scar forever.

Why is it so hard for some of you as/sholes to put yourselves in other peoples shoes?

I don`t have experience of these things, how did it have the force to puncture her skull?

Simple, someone drated up so much that they assault their mother (Given the mother was not beating the poo out of her)... I have no pity for the girl... She deserves her brains to be zapped out, when so many good youth promise so much to this world, I do not feel bad when the crap is shoveled from the otherwise fertile field.

@SarahofBorg, that is maybe the single most retarded statement I have ever read on this site. You go ahead and run from the police and tell how that works out for you. Enjoy your Felony Evading charges.

SarahofBorg:
when a cop comes at you threatening to attack you with a weapon you run.
So, is that was how you were raised ? Run from the cops because they can`t be trusted ?

Running from a cop is the worst thing you can do, it puts you and the policeman at risk of injury and ensures that you will go to jail.

This dumb [email protected] is much more likely to end up in the State Pen. than in Penn State.

What happened to her was an accident that she caused herself.

Hey Vegas, when a cop comes at you threatening to attack you with a weapon you run. When somebody says "I`m going to stab you with this here knife I`m holding" you don`t stand there and say OK. Just because he "warned" her doesn`t mean he wouldn`t have done it anyway.

Look, I know the girl had serious problems but she wasn`t about to hurt anyone. She wasn`t a threat. Plus, even if she was this was still extreme. I don`t understand why tasers are even legal when they can easily kill. Bb guns are friggin safer. ANYTHING short of a real gun is safer.

vegascartman, not necessarily true. I watched one of my best friends get shot with a taser after giving up and putting his hands behind his head. He was in the midst of dropping down to his knees when one cop tased him and two more ran up and jumped on him after he hit the ground. That was most definitely excessive force and they got away with it because myself and another one of our teenage friends were the only witnesses.

the taser itself in this girls case may not have been excessive force. we dont really know the whole story, so we cannot say. but shooting toward the head, neck, and face are against regulations. they are supposed to aim for the body (especially the abdominal region), as not to cause any serious/permanent harm to the tased. At least thats what Jorge, a friend of mine that is now a detroit city cop has told us.

vegascartman: Amen!

Not to mention, the mom took the girl to a police station, not a psychiatrist. What, did you expect the cops to hold hands with your kid and talk about her feelings?

"ran out of fear" BS. Of course the news is making her look like an innocent victim here but she ran from the police and now is upset about the consequences. Here`s a thought, DON`T RUN FROM THE COPS and you won`t get hurt. Big shockeroo!

This happened over two years ago and was small news. The child was a handful on her best days, the taser to the head was overkill but it did help her straighten out.

seriously? since when is it acceptable to shoot a 14 year old unarmed kid. They don`t even claim that she posed a threat to the officer. I don`t think it is EVER acceptable to fire a weapon at an unarmed civilian who hasnt even commited a real crime here. All she did was run from a crazy person who pointed a weapon at her

Why are you playing the blame game. The girl was scared, she ran. The police were trying to do their job. Excessive force?? There`s a police standard or procedure to deal with this. simply put, "I`m a police, I`m going to shoot you if you run" *fires warning shot* *suspect runs* BOOM! goes the dynamite. Another reason why, you should cooperate with the same people that is protecting you.

I seriously doubt he was aiming for her head, these devices are not like a sniper rifle with a scope, you aim for the body and that`s where the darts are supposed to go.

This is the first time I`ve ever heard of a taser dart breaking a bone/skull and if this one dart hadn`t done that I seriously doubt this story would`ve made the news.

Also, I know a lot of you are citing this girls age, but younger kids than her have shot and killed cops in the line of duty, bottom line is the girl shouldn`t have abused her mother and ran from the police. Maybe her story will sink in with the other teenage miscreants and they`ll think before they run from the `Po Po`.

I"m glad police didn`t use tasers when I was 14... I would have been in trouble with a capital T.

But seriously, the girl wasn`t dangerous, she was just being a sh*t stain. That`s what 14 year olds do. He could have just tackled her, or aimed below the neck. DAMN.

So a teenage girl sends dirty photos to older men -> Her Mum takes her to the police so they can tell her the risks she is putting herself into -> She acts like a teenager and storms off -> Police tase her for... walking away from a lecture then getting scared when threatened by a taser?

Do they just tase for everything now?
Cop: "Eat your sprouts!"
Kid: "No!"
Cop: "I`ll tase!"
*Kid screams and runs then gets tased*
Cop: "YOU OBAY ME!!!"

drating hell, to anyone who thinks she deserved this, shame on you. That is clearly excessive.
Do you really trust that police officer now? Or is it that anyone who is slightly out of line deserves any reaction the police choose to employ?

Of course peole should comply with the law, but we don`t want cops running around without restraint either, it`s unsustainable.

She`s still a child. I didnt know police rules when I was her age. Poor girl is ruined for life because this non-nice individual shot her in the head with a tazer. He could`ve shot her anywhere else.

Nice.. Sending nasty pictures to older men.. Can I get her number?

Like I said before.. If a cop tells you to do something, you do it. If you don`t.. Your gonna get tazed!

Remember kids.. Stay in school.

Stupid b*tch shouldnt have been causeing such an uproar that the officer felt the need to taze her.

I know there has been alot of controversy around tasings and shootings, but it is also a double edged sword. Mentally it is not easy for a police officer to do either. Sure you may be protecting yourself, but you know when you pull that trigger that the only outcome is bodily harm. it is not something that (most) cops do lightly.

Parents need to be arrested.

Your child turns out how you raise them and what you allow them to be exposed to. If people bothered to look at the big picture this would be illegal.
