Gay? Check! Republican? Check! This is like the juiciest news media sources can cover. Is it just that Gay republicans are more newsworthy than any democratic gays or is it that we still can`t live with the fact that people can be gay? I mean what is it? Because there`s a lot more stuff out there that warrants actual attention.
Although I guess the fascination can come from the hypocritical tendencies of such news posts, but still are we really still hung up on all this nonsense?
No offense Gerry, I`m not trying to call you out, just all these types of news that might become a whole new genre given the current pace of things.

    "Why don`t these guys learn?"

the problem is that they think the lesson to learn is how not to get caught with their pants down, when the lesson they should try and learn is not to spout all the hypocritical biggotry stuff.

If they weren`t known for being so anti gay in the first place most people wouldn`t really care if they were dating on a gay website.

lytle_lytle "U are kinda late and repeating the story"
This story wasn`t posted. That was just me bitching that it hadn`t been posted when really boring crap did.

@ NitrAce - the story is the hypocracy. No one cares when a Democrat does it because the are not anti-gay. But a Republican who votes against gay adoption and against gay marriage turning out to be a big bottom boy is just funny.

OldOllie "What`s your evidence that he`s anti-gay rights?"
Well, he`s Republican and the party stance is not to promote any gay rights. Also he was the district GOP committee chair and vice-chaired the Bush/Cheney Puerto Rico campaign in 2004. Those two returned campaign contributions from gay groups and wouldn`t have a pro-gay on their committees. His voting record in San Juan has opposed gay marriage, gay couples adopting and equal workplace rights.

"Is it just that Gay republicans are more newsworthy than any democratic gays or is it that we still can`t live with the fact that people can be gay?"

    It`s the former.

Not because sex scandals from Republicans are inherently juicier than those from Democrats (Weiner and Edwards both had notable sex scandals).

The juicy part is that someone who campaigned against gay rights turned out to be gay. Typically, Democrats are more likely to be in favor of gay rights, so this is less common on that side of the aisle.

"Is it just that Gay republicans are more newsworthy than any democratic gays"

You can`t block every gay rights bill known to man whilst being in favour of sausage in your home life. That`s why Reublicans rank higher on sex scandals involving hypocrisy 17:9 vs Democrats, which makes for a juicy news story.

Honestly, Reps just have juicier stories.
    Child out of wedlock: 3:1.
    Prostitution: 6:1.
    Etc.

The Dems win... "win"... when it comes to sex with Staffers (17:6).
    Harassment (9:2)

Though this is all hard to compare, lets take the most comparable:
Reps "win" the underage boys category.
Dems "win" the underage girls category.

The news will focus on the gay + pedo scandal, above just pedo.

Gays have more rights in this country than they do in most places around the world.
I`m not anti-gay marriage but don`t you think we all should focus on the constitutional rights both parties are slowly taking away from us first?
The liberties that are being stripped from us affect us all, straight and gay alike.

@ monsterzero - Yes to both.

Yes, gays do enjoy a lot more rights than in many countries. But that`s not the point. They should have all of the same rights as everyone else, nothing less/nothing more.

Yes, we should be focused on the constitution. Last I heard it was flushed down the toilet a few years back. We as a people should unite to try and get that sucker back!

Why do you think we have to choose between these things? Why can`t we fight for both simultaneously?

    @Gerry:

I`m not saying we have to choose, I just think that we should put the issue of gay marriage on the backburner (not because it`s unimportant, but because gay rights have come a long way and are some of the best in the world), so we can focus on the civil liberties that are being taken away from us all instead of just certain groups. Once we can reclaim our liberties as a whole, then we can turn our attention to individual groups.

    @ monsterzero

Put some peoples rights on the back burner. In the mean time those couples do what? Continue to live without equal protection under the law? Continue being denied spousal health care ? Continue being shoved aside by `blood` at hospitals and not legally allowed to make medical decisions for the person you built a life with over the last 25 years?

    That`s one plan....... nah.

The fight for one group`s rights is tied to every other group`s liberties. If a fag like me can get them.... it should be easy to establish the rights of "normal" people.

    Gerry:
Take my state for example, gay marriage is still illegal but gay civil unions are not. Homosexuals can have a state recognized civil union and have every right a married couple has. Marriage is only a word for gays in this state.
If they can enjoy a civil union and have all the same rights as a married couple then why not pursue more important issues like trying to avoid this country from turning into a police state first?
If we stay divided now, we all lose.
At this point in our countries history, what would you rather have; your constitutional freedom or a piece of paper that says your married?

A piece of paper that says I`m married should be my constitutional freedom. Civil Unions do not equal Marriage. If they did, they`d call them Marriage.

monsterzero- I think you mean well, but you`re lost.

Seperate but Equal never is. The conservates will say that Civil Unions are the same but they are not. We have the same in California yet there are 110 legal rights a married couple has that a gay couple does not. But the conservates all blad on talk radio how it`s "the same" and we really want "special privelage" etc.

It`s not the same and if it were I`d still want the word "married".

"focus on the constitutional rights "
You can fight for all freedoms at the same time.

    Again, it`s not "Either/Or".

You guys want to fight only for your own rights it seems but the other guys can just sit and wait for theirs. I`d rather fight for all rights at the same time...even yours.

It really doesn`t matter to me who marries who Zumut. To me a family is a family and children can be brought up with strong morals no matter the sexual preference of the parent or parents.
But yes, we should hide the children, not just of homosexuality but heterosexuality also. We shouldn`t be teaching any type of sex to children until they are not children anymore.
But that`s a different issue all together I suppose.
Anyway, it`s not taking it too far.
The police academy teaches new officers that everyone is suspicious and guilty right away.
And why do small towns with low populations need SWAT teams?
It`s happening my friend and we need to do something about it. Surely as a fellow I-A-Ber you see the videos constantly being posted of police abusing citizens. Remember the one with the cop saying "This ain`t America no more."?
Yeah it`s kind of like that...

It may come to armed rebellion and it may come to a submissive totalitarian state.
All I`m saying is something has to be done before either of these things come to pass.
Getting rid of these clowns that are passing restrictive legislation and repealing laws specified to dominate our society would be a good start.
Then we can work on making specific groups happy.
I just think we have to focus on one thing at a time. Wars are won by winning single battles not by trying to tackle everything at once.
I`m sorry if anyone thinks I`m a jerk but I feel our freedom as a non submissive society is more important than a marriage certificate at this particular point in our history.
