I remember seeing this a long time ago. If I`m not mistaken, I think it`s a birthday surprise for Gene Roddenberry

tedgp "...Patrick Stewart is a renowned shakesperian actor. Just like ever single Captain of the enterprise was.. apart from scott bakula."

William Shatner is a renouned Shakespearian actor? Wow, they are setting the acting bar low.

"Yesssss! He pronounced `Z` properly."

"Friggin` Canadians."

You mean friggin everyone but Americans? Because, of course, America is correct and the rest of the world is wrong.

Broadway star... You realise that Patrick Stewart is a renowned shakesperian actor. Just like ever single Captain of the enterprise was.. apart from scott bakula.

I believe this was filmed as a birthday greeting for Gene which means Gene was still alive, so probably a 3rd season filming.

I would love to know how this came about... It isn`t recent, so it must have been recorded while the show was still on the air.

Hehe...
Reminded me of this version of Picard:
Star Trek TNG - "A Bottle of Slivovitz"

Needless to say, "Slivovitz" is a traditional alcoholic beverage (spirit) of Balkan. Just like turbo-folk.

I was hoping that when he got to Q, Q would show up and put an end to it.

"That`s enough, Picard. Quite enough, indeed."

Tom Baker was clearly the best doctor ever, not this clown.

@splurbyburbl: I can`t say much about Star Wars, given that I`ve never seen it, but I do know that comparing Star Wars and Star Trek is a HUGE no-no! They`re both big fandoms and it makes no sense to fight about them. (Or to make stupid comments in your efforts to try and start a fight...)

On-topic, many classically-trained British actors learn dance and song and acting all together, then focus on one of those as they approach the end of their training. Patrick Stewart is formerly of the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) if I remember correctly, not surprising that he can pull out the stops.

Side-note: When I lived in London, I once saw Gandalf, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the Queen all at the same time, having a chat. No, it wasn`t a fancy-dress party. But that`s another story, and one best told over a cold beer.

Stewarts a master.
Old clip {80`s show after all} but one of my faves. He could slip things in and no one would notice till way later...
