ooh, they have a classical music library. Isn`t all the music they sold then now considered classical? I`m halfway expecting to go down to orchestra hall and hear Butt-hole Surfer play.

@LuckyDave - A yes, the memories! Loved it, but I also had a mic so when a song played on MTV (I`m talking about the old days remember) I could record that too! I recorded the intro song of the Fresh Prince of Bell Air with that thing. Love(d) it!

Man, remember when we had cassette tapes, and you would listen to the radio, waiting for that one song you wanted with your finger sitting on the record button, ready to push it down at the smallest hint that it would play.

I kinda miss tape. Yeah, CDs are nice and all, but you didn`t have to mess with drivers and software to make a mixed tape back then, any old tape player with a record button became a mixing studio.

I don`t fully understand why this is here. I know of a box in my parent`s basement with a Radio Shack flyer from 1988. Should I scan that and put it on IAB?

YES PLEASE!!! <3 :D That was the year I was born, that would be hilarious.

Those were the days when the thought of a 33.6 bps modem made me salivate. Surfing AOL with my 2400 baud modem was starting to seem a bit too slow.

What is interesting to note is that the clothes washers and dryers cost a lot less, even adjusted for inflation, and work better than the ones they make today. In 1996, no one ever heard of HE Washer mildew and your clothes actually got clean.

In 1996, Consumer Reports tested 18 models of washing machines. It rated 13 models as excellent and 5 models as very good. They found that with enough hot water and any decent laundry detergent, any machine would get your clothes clean.

In 2007, Consumer Reports tested 21 models and rated none of them as excellent and 7 models as poor; the rest of the models were rated mediocre. The old top-loading machines were mediocre or worse.

Why did this happen ? The government decided to meddle and set new standards, just like they are meddling with automobile standards and we end up with hybrid toaster sized econoboxes instead of real cars.

I had the Sony Walkman (w/ auto reverse) in `92 and the Sony Discman in `94, I didn`t know they were still being sold in `96.

We still have and use the JVC VCR at my mom`s. We don`t watch movies, but the home movies we made through the 90`s are totally best watched on VHS`s (I have more fun watching a birthday party home movie on VHS than any "family moment" on YouTube)

Oh my dog, the memories. This was freshmen year of college. I had (and still have) so many things from this flyer. "You Don`t Know Jack" is still ranked as one of the best software purchases I`ve ever made. To bad it was at my first boyfriend`s house when we broke up.

Just 15 years, and every single item obsolete (save the appliances). Check out the prices and sizes of the ram memory. I remember when a 1mb stick cost $150.
