I hate deadbeat dads. But I don`t think it`s the gov`ments job to get involved in demestic problems like this.

The state may classify a good father as a deadbeat dad. Because the laws concerning child support are broken, it is wrong to enforce them.

the one that pissed ME off is the guy got arrested for giving (False information) HE GAVE THEM THE INFORMATION AFTER HE FOUND OUT IT WAS THE COPS! i cant drating count the times ive picked up something for my brother when he has been sick or vice versa.. now they have made it into a law? no the non-nice individual cops was just mad they didnt get yet another (deadbeat dad), yeah like knocking some bitch up and having to pay her for the privileged for 18 years is right either. i think abortions should be mandatory if the couple isnt married.

"But I don`t think it`s the gov`ments job to get involved in demestic problems like this."

So, if you were the one raising the kids, and your deadbeat spouse wasn`t paying his/her share, and the government isn`t supposed to get involved -

who do you go to to get the terms of the divorce enforced?

@ Heureux - not all men who don`t pay are dead-beat dads. In many states, whoever the woman is married to at the time of conception is the "legal father" of the kid. EVEN if dna shows the skank cheeted and it`s not his kid. The courts still order him to pay for some other man`s child. Maybe the cheating ho should go after the real father.

I`m not saying that`s every case, but there are plenty of them. Men who refuse to pay for his wifes affairs. But that`s what gov`ment involvement gets you.

MrTwidget "How is this not entrapment again?"
Entrapment is when you coerce someone into committing a crime.
This is just a way to round up people who have "allegedly" commited a crime already.

    Reeeeeeeeeee...

This is not entrapment, because they are not coercing the criminals into a criminal activity.

So, if they are sending letters to these people`s homes, then they obviously know where they live. What not simply go arrest them at home?

Hell, the entire sheriff`s department can dress like publisher`s clearing house workers if it makes them feel better.

The total amount owed by those arrested $250,000. Those arrested had to pay a "portion" of what was owed to leave. My guess is 10%, but lets say it was 20%. The sheriffs office spent 4 months and 20-30 people just that day to pull this off, plus props and renting the office space. Just a quick estimate tells me the sheriffs office spent ~ $50k to collect $50k. Not sure that this was a win.

"Not sure that this was a win."

It`s not about the money, It`s about scaring the dead beats into doing whats right. If this made 1 dad actually take the steps to turn his life around and take care of his kid, then it was a success.
