I took your advice and I think see your point. If this really is supposed to be in the newest version of the movies than George Lucas really has turned into M. Night Shyamalan v2.0.

Cajun, I think what you see as people overreacting is really just them being silly. This is all sort of a running joke with people who feel, like I do, that George Lucas has no idea what made episodes IV through VI so successful. 13 years ago when he came out with the remastered versions I was sorta pissed, but now I`m much more bewildered at how awful he is at creating new star wars movies as well as editing the old ones.

If you go to Filmdrunk and do a search for Star Wars related posts you might get an idea of what I`m talking about. Better yet, watch the reviews of the prequels that Baelzar posted because they are, like he said, better than the movies.
Geez people. It`s just a Star Wars movie.
In the grand scheme of things does it really matter if Vader says "no" or remains silent?
As compared with 3rd world debt, starvation in Somalia or testicular cancer does any of it matter?

It`s not like it`s Star Trek.... THAT`s important!
This hits the nail right on the head.

@Brassbull

I noticed the "nnnoooo" being added in, how does that ruin anything? This doesn`t ruin my childhood at all. I know the original scene, quite frankly everyone here who`s crying "ruined childhood" is just blatantly overreacting.

@Cajun - Are you serious or are you doing the willfully ignorant trolling thing? Cause if you`re trolling I`d tell you to figure it out the same way I would figure out what an adjective is describing: I`d read the description, pick out all the nouns, and apply the adjective to each noun. The combination that seems to make the most sense is usually the answer I`m looking for.

If you`re not trolling, the answer is scene. The scene is what was potentially ruined.

I really hope you were just trolling. I hope it for you,

Actually my point was simply that that same argument can be applied to almost anything. `This is a waste of time, I don`t care, and there are more important things out there.` The site is called I-Am-Bored, not I am seeking something to do that is superior to the last thing I was doing.

Brassbull - Cool, you`ve just shown how original you are. Taking someone elses comment and switching a few words around.

That tells me one thing. You have nothing original to say. Instead of coming back at my comment with a decent argument, you apparently lack the intelligence to even come up with one.

The greatest thing you could do now is take this comment, use it yourself and change a couple of words. Because if your last comment is anything to go by, that`s all you can do apparently.

Really couldn`t give a ****. I didn`t care about other people`s comments who didn`t care about SW, and I don`t care now. I have more important things to worry about.

People really do spend too much time whining about others who whine about the changes that were made to Star Wars. Get over it. They`re not gonna stop making comments because of your comment.

@phoneybone - You can`t even buy the original unedited versions anymore, can you? That`s a pretty good marketing strategy but I`m pretty sure every time he changes something it`s final and absolute. In fact I wouldn`t be surprised if they start changing all versions to match this Blue Ray edition. I could be wrong though.

He already ruined the original three by making those abortions of CGI, bad acting and poo stories called I, II, and III.

Here, watch this review of the prequels. The review is BETTER than the films.

see, he`s doing the "new coke - classic coke" age old trick. He`s releasing these edited "better" versions on blue ray, which a lot of people will buy (idiots and nerds alike), and then later, he`ll release "THE AWESOME UNEDITED ORIGINAL!!" version on blue ray, at which point, once again, will sell well, maybe even better, than the first release. Classic marketing (at least I hope this is what he`s doing cuz these edits suck balls)

Ruined. His looks, although they may seem blank, said everything. It showed that he was fighting between whether or not he should stick with the Dark Side or help his son, and - in the end - good won out.

They ruined it by adding the voice.

A Quote from anticool.com:
As Luke, dying under the Emperor’s torrent of force lightning, calls out to his father to help him, Vader stares quietly, looks at his son, then at the Emperor, and makes his decision. And he DOESN”T dratING SAY A THING. That’s what makes it so powerful. You could almost see the thought process behind the mask, as Vader slowly comes out of the fog of 20+ years of evil. It’s a grand, amazing moment and the pinnacle of the trilogy, in my opinion.
And George Lucas just ruined it.
And a quote from Geroge Lucas from 1988 taken from FilmDrunk:
American works of art belong to the American public; they are part of our cultural history.
People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians
Also to everyone curious, this is totally real and what you can expect if your buy the Blue-Ray edition.

"At least the superhero franchises are coming up with new stories instead of just changing tiny details of the original films and releasing them like it was some major change"

But that`s just it...they ARE!

How many origin stories for Batman, Superman, The Hulk, etc, have we seen so far?

Don`t get me wrong, sometimes it`s done very well. I would never wish away Heath Ledger`s Joker. But couldn`t the creativity and talent that went into making those good rehashed stories have gone into making some good new stories?

We could still have Heath Ledger as a fantastic, twisted, entertaining nutcase villain...in something else, as a character that we haven`t seen over and over.

*sigh*

I personally think that copyright should expire WAY sooner than it actually does.

That way, if people like Lucas want to continue making money, they will have to stop milking something they made THIRTY YEARS AGO and make something NEW!

Same goes for effing Batman, Superman, Star Trek...even freaking Planet of the Apes is coming back for more.

It needs to stop. If you had a time machine and grabbed someone from the 1970s and showed them the titles on a movie theatre marquee today, they`d think they hadn`t travelled in time at all!

Heh, how to get more money:
Release [again] a classic film on a new platform with minor edits.
Wait for the flames and hate.
Collect money from those who don`t care, and want the movie [again].
Release [again] the classic film on the new platform with the purist, original cut, including only new bonus features and resolution.
Collect money from those who do care, and want the movie [again].

first off, who cares if they added vader saying no! as the emperor is killing luke. it adds to vaders return to humanity. also stop with the han shot first crap, even though it was changed, han is still a bamf and still killed greedo, you just think hes now a pansy for not shooting first. also stop holding onto these purist views of star wars. yeah ok you were there when it came out, you have the laser disc/vhs of the original cut trilogy that only your kids and friends ever watch, but its not special to just you. start accepting change and the fact that george lucas is a business man and wants money. thats why he holds pretty much all rights to star wars and thats why it has been released on every format several times. so what if he makes a change that may appeal to maybe a million new fans, and he knows youre not going to stop watching it either. so please stop holding onto this for you and only you, its time to accept change and others enjoying what you already know is great
