this kind of thing proves that terrorists the world over just keep winning. i work in an airport, and it would have taken a matter of minutes to x-ray the luggage and find no bomb.

if someone really wants to get an IED or IID on an aircraft they will, there`s only so much we can do about it

Florida?

I was half-expecting for her to put her baby on the luggage-check conveyor belt.

I`m inevitably going to laugh the day that some random terrorist actually smuggles a bomb onto a plane and it makes the news.

"You mean all that time we were stopping the bags that had crude sketches of bombs and arresting people who joked about bombs... and the real terrorists weren`t using these tactics in the first place??"

Now that I think about it, what self-respecting terrorist is going to try and take out another plane? They`ve hit almost nothing but trains/subways since 9/11, and there`s still next to no security there.

"planting a fake bomb". Oh come on now. If I draw a picture of a horse on a suitcase, does that mean I`m taking a fake horse on board the plane? They`re abusing the law to charge her with that.

She couldn`t take fluids on the plane, so she put it in her mouth thinking there was nothing they can do??

This is a false bomb threat. A false bomb threat is grounds for arrest. Nothing unusual here. Now, when the two-year-old was kicked off a plane (along with his mother) and charged with making terror threats for saying "bye-bye plane" - now that was ridiculous. But this is a false bomb threat and must be taken seriously. Everyone knows that is no laughing matter.

Let me say first:I`m an American, and I love my country. Not too fond of a lot of the folks here anymore, and believe that our politicians are lying crooks(No different than anywhere else). But I look around and see people here with this `Chicken Little` mentality. Moderation and common sense are gone. Unless I`m sadly mistaken, the `defenders of the free world` shouldn`t be wetting their pants at every little thing.

...And what about the people who have a gun tattooed at their wiasts? This has gotten out of hand, imo.

Article: "The interruption cost more than $1,000, according to officials."

In the federal government, a soy latte costs more than that. What`re they bitching about.

Sorry morons; but I am glad they take that stuff seriously. It`s a big deal; if they don`t take every little thing seriously then one day a silly joke like this could be real and kill bunches of people. I take planes frequently during the summer and I want to remain safe no matter the cost.

I`ve known people even make a bomb joke to a friend before and be detained.. They have to take it seriously no matter how stupid it seems...

"`Cause you know, the first things terrorists do when they get to the airport is to write `This is a bomb, I am a terrorist.` on their bomb-bag."

What if they do because people dismiss it as "lol funneh"? Or because someone else constructed the bomb and that ("officials spotted the crude drawing") is just the label for the suicide bomber to grab the right bag and not the one with the dirty laundry? Or because it is the message to all those <insert race/class/religion/etc> scum that needs to be purged?

I think the crucial part here is that it was a crude drawing.

I`m not sure who is stupider, her or the people on here saying the airport over reacted. You don`t yell fire in a theater and you do not joke about bombs at an airport.

The fact that you can`t even say the word in an airport is one thing. Drawing it is another. But the fact they they diverted planes and closed the terminal to "inspect the suspicious bag" is just stupid. You know, because terrorists will carry a bag that says "This is a bomb" on it.

Apples aren`t allowed past security.

I`m reminded of the scene in Meet The Parents when Stiller is pulled off the plane, and when told he can`t say the word "bomb", he goes off "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb".

To be fair, it was completely stupid of her to do that, but on the other hand...
"...criminal mischief and for planting a fake bomb..."
Seriously? Over a logo on a suitcase? Get over yourselves, TSA. Even with their strict protocol and zero tolerance policies, the FBI shows every year that the TSA is almost completely worthless.

Multiple planes diverted... Terminal closed for an hour.... and the cost: "more than 1000 dollars."
Either there is at least a zero missing or that`s the most anticlimatic end to an article I`ve ever read...

while that is a little stupid, she shouldn`t even be saying the word bomb.

lmao! really? I guess that would happen at about any airport in the country though... Seriously, what is becoming of our country when a drawing is "criminal mischief and planting a fake bomb"? Also, I highly doubt that anyone taking a real one to an airport would like to advertize that fact, haha.

hardly "planted" a bomb she drew it on the goddam suitcase?
