Don`t Mace Me, Bro! NYC Protesters Get Sprayed

Submitted by: Subushie 5 years ago

More action from the Occupy Wallstreet movement. Looks like these kids are looking to start a Greece or Egyptian riot.

First Kleindermotte that post wasn`t intelligent or funny enough to post twice.

but seriously; being maced HURTS badly, I know no-one here knows that. They are women, and they were already blocked it. Macing them was completely unnecessary

First off, suck it up, hippies. You`re the ones who love Starbucks, Apple, and all those little bands that 3 people have heard of. Grow up and get a job like the rest of us. You`ll see how irritating these people are. And no, your philosophy degree doesn`t count towards anything.

@Scuzoid

Really bro? Really? I wouldn`t touch that filthy meatbag with a 10 foot pole.

This is a really short video so I don`t really know what the cops were dealing with and for how long they were dealing with it.. I guess they just pissed him off or he got tired of their crap... regardless I`ve been voluntarily pepper sprayed and it hurts but not that bad I think they were hamming it up a bit cause the cameras were rolling

HAHA.

So after watching the clip a couple more times, two white shirt cops come speed walking up pointing at what appears to be our drama queen. The oldest cop there, in the white shirt, does the spray, but before he even does, she`s already got her back turned.

She knew it was coming, she avoided the brunt of the spray (The redhead didn`t) and yet she still puts on the show.

I`d still put it in her.

Someone made a point in an earlier post about the protest that most of these people are american apparel, starbucks, apple, etc. fanatics that put millions into the corporations that they`re protesting....Whatever the case is, does anyone else think the girls over-reacted a bit to the spray? I`ve never heard anyone male or female scream and cry like that from pepper spray..

This is what happens when you give socially maladjusted people weapons and tell them to tell people what to do.

Protesters always act SO innocent like "I don;t understand why you are doing this?" It`s almost as if they want it to happen so they can say "See! Were being oppressed! Our cause is being shut down by the government! Join our righteous cause!"

I`m confused, is the protest picking up speed or are the cops just sweeping up the trash at this point?

When protesting, bring your own mace- see how they like it.

Our cop `heroes` at work, macing and tasing citizens who still think they can enjoy quaint old concepts like `right of assembly` and `freedom of speech.`

I still say we need snipers to trigger NATO intervention. If not, China can impose impose a no-fly zone by blanket bombing with nukes.

@m_archer Look into the news footage and archived footage from the g20. Mass arrest of non violent protesters from (police dictated) "safe areas". They grabbed an entire gymnasium full of sleeping persons, transported them en-mass to a "holding" area where there were 30 people to a "cell". It gets worse. Check it out, it`s rather sick. Even the T.O police chief has admitted that what occurred was abuse of power and a massive over reaction by (badgeless) police.

@Gerry Well, perhaps it`s a difference in "Law" but up here, the streets and sidewalks are considered public areas, and often traffic is obstructed by protest marches.

All of this seems like a bunch of bleeding-heart retards whining about how the man is controlling the system, man. When you block the streets you are impacting the rest of society, you know, people that need to get somewhere and be productive, you deserve to get maced.

@Gerry1of1: I don`t know...since the government owns the roads, the government gets to decide who uses them at what time and under what conditions; that`s why it`s ok for them to make you buy insurance to drive. Also, is there really a "right" to use the roads?

But then cases like the case of the Illinois neo-Nazis comes to mind: the Nazis wanted to protest, but they weren`t allowed to. That`s a double-standard; if the hippies in the `60s were allowed to block streets, the neo-Nazis should`ve been allowed to as well.

It`s a tricky issue--either the government lets everyone block the streets, or no one. Both decisions have good justifications, though.

But I think we can agree on the fact that there`s no justification for mobs to forcibly occupy private property.

The story from the police is that protesters were told to stay out of the street, several times, yet kept walking out and blocking traffic and causing problems.

None of these videos I`ve seen posted here contains enough footage prior to the actual incident to have any context.

In this case, what I see causes me to look at both sides with disdain.

To be completely honest, I didn`t see anything indicating this was a peaceful protest. That was a 40 second clip of what appeared to be the end of SOME protest, maybe it was peaceful, maybe she did something to deserve it...Idk.

Just because the title says "peaceful" does not mean it was. I`m not siding with the NYPD on this one, nor am I saying that the NYPD doesn`t usually have a corrupt agenda of some sort... I`m just saying that "WeAretheOther99" probably has their own agenda as well.

It all smalles a bit like low-tide to me.

p.s. ... Very over dramatic... Pepper spray hurts, I`ve been sprayed with it before, but c`mon, I think someone went a little over board on the theatrics.

"they don`t have a permit to protest ".
Are you serious? Now you need a permit to protest?
And who gonna give you this permission? The people that you are protesting?

Kalimata
"The right to protest and the right to gather peacefully are still protected in most "free" countries"
A peacefull protestor does not have the right to block all trafic on the street. That`s infringing on the rights of the people trying to get some where.
They don`t have the right to block access to the buildings which just with sheer numbers they were doing.

I`m all for freedom, I`d love to see it restored in the U.S., but you can`t just throw a tantrum, call it a protest, then cry when you get a response.

@Kalimata: It doesn`t matter how peaceful your protest is; the forcible occupation of any private property is never justified. Also, for the G20: if I`m not mistaken, the cops were responding to actual riots and actual threats against the leaders. Cop cars were molotoved and stuff like that. Everyone was incredibly on edge and I don`t think we can point fingers at a single group.

Is this protest still by Anonymous? Shame...Anonymous used to be about the lulz, mostly--now they`re very political anarchists.

They`re just like the Fight Club.

Oh, @beardofzeus Ever been on the receiving end of mace, pepper spray, or CS gas? That`s not very much of an exaggeration, if it even is one.
I have been pepper sprayed and teargassed, no matter how bad it looks on TV, it`s far far worse.

I am not a protester. Personally, I don`t think protesting works anymore, on the whole.

The right to protest and the right to gather peacefully are still protected in most "free" countries, and it makes me rather enraged to see that freedom quashed by (insert law enforcement agency here...). Our government did it for the Toronto G20, and personally, I think people should be jailed for the types of brutality the protesters endured.

Freedom? Better be vigilant folks, it`s a fight to acquire, and so very easy to lose.

$50 says they don`t have a permit to protest, and if that`s so, the cops can lawfully tell them to piss off.

If they don`t, they can release the dogs and water hoses if they want.
