Because If I stop just because I`m gay, then they win!

Is it time for the "What does the Christian bible actually say about homosexuality" argument again?

If there are any Christians who aren`t bothered about homosexuality and are concerned because they think their religion requires them to be, I`ll cheerfully do the whole chapter and verse again for them. It`s theologically sound to be Christian and to not be bothered by homosexuality - the big downer on homosexuality within Christianity is just one interpretation that in many cases is provably wrong.

I won`t bother with a moral argument, since theists have replaces morality with religion. I`m talking about a religious argument, i.e. possible interpretations of Christian scripture.

If you want to find out what happened to the Dixiecrats all you have to do is look at the election of `64. The Rep. party nominated Barry Goldwater, creator of The Southern Strategy. AKA get all the "negrophobic" whites in your corner by pandering to all their basest fears and prejudices and lock up their vote. In that election a Rep. actually won in the south for the first time since before Lincoln. By the time of Reagan the Rep. party had successfully taken into itself all the Dixiecrat runoff they peeled off the Dems.

O hear me Goldwater, wherever you are! Embrace all the Republican`s fringe base elements as your own, for they are your children!!

Grendel, others have sufficiently explained the whole political alignment stuff so I think I`ll move on.

LBJ was a lot of things, but he was no racist. He signed the `65 Civil Rights law and the Voting Rights Act, all the while mindful of what it would cost him and the party in the south. ("I`ve just lost us the south for a generation.") And If you think doing the right thing would be politically advantageous you`d be wrong. Doing right by a minority population doesn`t translate into majority votes.
Now if your point was that LBJ was a crude, unpleasant man on a personal level, then you have that one in the bag.

Crakr, you get castigated because you`re always EMPIRICALLY wrong. Point Blank.

markust: I haven`t `attacked` anyone, just stated my beliefs, I didn`t call you names, didn`t slander you, didn`t use any slurs or epithets, and I don`t hate you.

I can tell you truthfully, that far more hateful and hurtful words have been aimed at me just for being a Christian conservative republican.

I`ve been told that I`m killing old people, betraying my own class, killing the planet, a terrorist, a lunatic, and much much more just here at IAB, within recent memory.

So sorry if I seem a bit unsympathetic.

"I don`t hate you or Gerry or anyone else that`s homosexual, seriously I don`t. We`ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God, that`s biblical fact. Sometimes the truth hurts, that doesn`t mean it`s hateful."

It is human nature to sometimes have prejudices against people who are different, but when you go out of your way repeatedly to attack a whole group of people, when you know full well that your words hurt, that my friend is hate. When someone calls something I have no control over, something I was born with, a sin it sometimes hurts. I`ve grown accustomed to the jabs so I usually just blow it off but sometimes it gets to me like last night.

If different species of monkeys and chips can perform hate crimes against other species of monkeys and chimps then why cant they also experience other "human like" hatreds.. The National Organization for Marriage spent $709,000 for Ads targeting two Minnesota candidates that supported marriage equality and supportive Ads for a candidate who wanted a constitutional amendment barring same-sex marriage. This is just one instance of the vast amount of money that is being spent on hate. Think of all the good that money could do. And these people have the nerve to call themselves true Christians.

vv Crakrjak, even if the mythological story is true, then being homosexual is nothing like being a prostitute. A prostitute whores out their body for money, and could change if they had another source of income. A gay person enacts on their inborn instincts that members of their own gender are more sexually attractive to them, regardless of income.

I`d ask you again if you could be turned on by a video of a guy giving another guy a blowjob, but I know it`s pointless, you`ll only dodge the question again. You know, as much as I do, that sexuality is not something you choose.

Please tell me you see the difference in that.

"Christ would`ve treated homosexuals the way he treated the prostitute that was brought to him for judgment. He would forgive them and say, "Go and sin no more"."

Christ never mentions homosexuals once in any of his writings. You have no idea what he would do. You have no idea what he thought of homosexuals. For all we know Christ could have been gay. He did spend a significant amount of time with 12 men.

Meh, if it`s like the Target, they`re overreacting anyways, just because you have previous dealings with a person or persons that have an opinion doesn`t mean you share it.

I have a gay friend, I don`t agree he should be united by Holy matrimony, that`s my beliefs. I DO think he has a right to live together with whoever he wants, and be legally bonded with them in a manner such as marriage.

`Life-Partnership` I think of it as.

"Isn`t it funny-so many criticize Christians for being hypocritical, but when they actually do what they say they believe, they still get criticized. "

However, any Christian who promotes any prejudice, including against Gays and Lesbians, is not doing what Christ taught. All prejudice violates what Christ actually taught.

You cannot follow Christ and be a homophobe - the two are not compatible.

Yeah, only Republican candidates say racist things:
Obama: "Typical White Person" (what would happen if, say, Bush had said `typical black person`?)
Hillary: "You f***ing Jew [email protected]" & "Mahatma Gandhi ran a gas station down in Saint Louis."
Biden: "You cannot go to a 7-11 or Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian Accent."
Jackson: `Hymies.` `Hymietown.`
Byrd: "There are white n*ggers"
Nagin: "This city will be chocolate."

But, let me guess..they all had `good reasons` for speaking..or were `taken out of context`, right?

The idea that the republican party is racist is simply how a demonstrably racist party with a racist history (Democrats) point the finger elsewhere and scream hysterically in order to divert attention from themselves and their own despicable legacy.

One last thing and I will shut up. Why did I care about Glenn Beck spreading lies that it was liberals in the South who were the racists? Because my father watched Glenn Beck and I wanted to show that he was being lied to. This was the easiest lie to prove. Or so I thought. It took my mom 4 days to admit I was right. The historical facts are that pretty much all of the white South switch to the Democratic party during the time of Lincoln. All of the conservative South especially switched to the Democratic party during this time. And they stayed Democrats until the Civil Rights movement in the 60`s. Do you really think the South would stay in the party of Lincoln? They seceded from the nation. That is how upset they were at the North and the Republican party. I mean really, this is junior high history we are dealing with here. Glenn Beck lies - Brain cells dies.

Ukule if their beliefs contain intolerance and oppression, it doesn`t really matter whether they`re honest about them. They should still be criticized.

And before some conservative says that I`m `oppressing their opinion` in saying that, criticism and oppression are completely different.
Telling people that they can`t get married because of who they like = oppression.
Saying, "hey guys, isn`t it kinda crazy that a religion that frequently preaches peace and kindness and love can so openly hate so many people?" = criticism

madest, typical liberal shuck-n-jive. Can`t win on the facts, change the definition of the words.

A few examples:
Liberals do not `lie`, they `mis-speak`. (example: Hillary Clinton`s `Landing under sniper fire`. A total lie, but classified as `mis-speak`.)
A democratic governor (Bev Perdue) can say `I think we ought to suspend elections`, and it`s classified as `joke` or `hyperbole`, when in reality it is a violation of her oath of office and a call for a violation of Article 4, Section 4, Clause 1 of the Constitution (Damn those facts!).
Hell, Bill Clinton didn`t even the know the defintion of `Sex` or the word `is`.
Obama said his father was involved in WWII, a total lie, but classified as a `misstatement`.

MeGrendel, then you also know that the Republican and Democrat parties of the 19th and early 20th century would both be unrecognizable from each other. The “conservative reactionary national Democratic Party battling the Progressive Republican Party each switched ideological identities” during the early 20th century, historically the South was dominated by conservative Democrats and the North by progressive Republicans.
I know it is weird how loose, subjective labels can change given the historical environment.

QueenZira-"where does Racism/Nativism have it`s natural home? Right Wing politics"

You would be incorrect.
The KKK was started by Democrats.
The last known member of the KKK to serve in Congress was a Democrat. (Sen. Robert Byrd).
Democrat Lydon Johnson "I`ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years."
Al Sharpton: ""White folks was in caves while we was building empires. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it."
Bill Clinton: "A few years ago, this guy (Obama) would have been getting us coffee..."
Hillary Clinton: " "You f*ck!ng Jew [email protected]@rd."

They admit that they are a left-leaning liberal hitgroup.

And, for a `non-profit` organization, the SPLC is the wealthiest `civil rights` group in North America, and spends the vast majority of its funds, not on representing the poor, but raising more funds to meet its excessive payroll (its executive director takes home enough salary to make him `Rich` by Obama`s standads).

It`s no longer listed in the Better Business Bureau`s Wise Giving Alliance because that would require that "at least 50 percent of total income from all sources, should be applied to programs and activities directly related to the purposes for which the organization exists." The SPLC spent 89 percent of its total income on fund-raising and administrative costs.

SPLC Director Mark Potok even doubles as a Huffington Post columnist (MORE non-bias).

QueenZira: SPLC`s criteria is rather specious, they try and cloak their true agenda, and make claims that don`t hold up to closer scrutiny.

The only reason the new black panthers and the nation of islam are on the list is their leaders both made very anti-semetic statements without apologies.

However, the SPLC has backed the equally anti-semetic group CAIR, that has funded Hamas terrorists through the `Holy Land Foundation".

The SPLC has also backed the hate group `La Raza` in their bid to force Lou Dobbs from CNN.

Look beneath the surface, do some research, and you`ll see that the SPLC is not what MLK jr. fought for.

Furthermore, I`ve never encountered said restaurant where I dwell and even if I did they certainly wouldn`t get a single cent from me.

In another observation, what a F#$%ing stupid name amirite?

Ah yes, that old chestnut. Right-wing Christian Conservatives. It took a while to bring women`s rights, then it took a while to bring non-white people`s rights. Gay people are just the last in the queue.

Hang in there homosexuals, your time of equality will come. They wonder why church attendance is at an all-time low. One of those reasons is that it`s 2011.

Crakr, I sincerely doubt you`ve even seen every hate group they monitor, it`s everybody from white nationalists to black separatists and everyone in between.

SPLC is also not anti Christianity and not anti MLK. MLK is enshrined in their Civil Rights movement memorial and anti gay hate groups are not called so merely because they say being gay is "not biblical." Furthermore the good Southern Christians of your day saw MLK as not xian because he didn`t follow the White Southern xian interpretation of the Bible (AKA "The only Legitimate interpretation"). You`ve been so mind raped by your John Birch Society ideology you`re reality impaired. I bet you don`t even know what Communism even IS.

madest: Damn near every `conservative group` is called a `hate group` by the SPLC, that doesn`t make their propaganda true.

The SPLC would today consider MLK Jr. a hatemonger for the fact that he preached Christianity. The SPLC made a hard left turn in their politics after MLK Jr. died, they see hate everywhere and are nothing more than a communist front group themselves.

I liked it more when Gays just kept to themselves and all this BS didn`t exsist. Gay is the new black. Being racist is so last decade lets hate on the Gays. I hope next its the disabled. Let`s all be disabphobic (I coined that term). That way I can post things on the net about how I`m put down and society hates me and just QQQQQQ. I`ll organize parades and run around like idiots and say see nothings wrong with us. We are not attention seeking whores really! We just want to be heard! And when McDonald`s starts giving money to disaphobic groups I`ll stop eating Big Macs and just get fatter off Whoppers! Yeah that`ll show all thos disaphobic people! Man I cant wait!

"So what? All corps give to charities, I dont always agree with said charities but I dont really care.."

So what? So money equals power, and Focus on the Family is opposed to a lot more than just civil equality for homosexuals. They are anti-choice, anti-sex ed, pro-abstinence only, pro religion in public schools. Their deep ties to the Bush family mean that anything that the Republicans have done that you hate, they had a part in.

"Stop shoving your gayness down our throats."

Funny how homophobes always use this intensely sexual image - as they defend forcing their sexuality on everyone else.

If you think anyone will fall for that nonsense, you shouldn`t call anyone stupid.

"most people are afraid to disagree with the gay elitist agenda"

There is no such thing, but all anti-gay commentary is essentially heterosexist elitist propaganda - promoting the idea that heterosexuals are superior by nature of their sexual orientation.

dmacpgh82 - Focus on the Family has everyone who is not a fundamentalist Christian in their sights - and not in a good way. Educate yourself, these people intend to eradicate everyone`s civil rights.

Chick-fil-a`s assocation with homophobic organizations is well documented.
Asurazero - just remember, religious fundamentalists see eradicating homosexuality from society as a step toward enforcing their will, beliefs, and religious law, on everyone. And someone you know is gay or lesbian, and harmed by anti-gay legislation.
markust - the more money you give `em, the more they preach on billboards, tv, the internet - and the more politicians they buy with your money to take everyone`s rights away.

who cares, chik-fil-a is awesome, besides there are other companies that do much, much worse. peta for example supports kill shelters, now isnt that interesting an organization that attacks people who wear fur, judges people who eat meat and wear leather (the joke is most peta members eat meat and wear leather) and like i said, supports animal shelters that kill animals. but like i said there are much worse organizations/companies. if chik-fil-a put up a sign in favor of gays everyone would applaud them, nothing against gays, they are good people but its all politics and political correctness and most people are afraid to disagree with the gay elitist agenda or view point. stop being so sensitive, and corporations are protected by free speech as well...

Chik-Fil-A is neither Mormon nor Christian.

Mormons are Christian, first off.

Second off, neither church owns Chik-Fil-A. It was founded and is headed by a Southern Baptist named Truett Cathy.

Now that we have taken a quick internet search of Wikipedia to dispel rumors, please refrain from being stupid and lazy.

I believe this is true, because it is well documented that Chick-Fil-A is owned by an intense Christian who closes all Chick-Fil-A stores on Sunday, every Sunday, because the Bible commands us not to work on Sundays and he thinks it is sinful to do business on a Sunday. That gives you an idea of his mindset and how seriously he takes Christian dogma without thinking it through with logic. So he probably donates to Christian groups, which happen to be anti-gay.
Since there`s not information to support the claim that chick-fil-a has an anti-gay agenda, i`m going to assume this is all BS.
I was expecting it to be BS, because this sort of thing usually is. The fast food business in particular seems to attract smear campaigns.

But in this case, there is evidence. Chick-Fil-A`s charitable arm - the Winshape Foundation - which is of course funded by Chick-Fil-A. It denies charitable help to people who are homosexual and it funds directly anti-gay groups, all in the name of Christianity (which is a big part of what Chick-Fil-A is about).

No it`s true BlankTom, Chick-fil-a helps fund Focus on the Family which is a Southern Poverty Law Center certified hate group.

From the SPLC:
On Focus` 47-acre campus in Colorado Springs, some 1,300 employees battle against gay rights, sex education and women`s rights with an enormous annual budget of $130 million. Dobson`s radio show, dispensing homespun parenting advice along with jabs at "the militant homosexual agenda," is heard daily on more than 9,000 radio stations worldwide, giving him an estimated listening audience of more than 200 million.
This has been known for a long time. They`ve given millions to conservative, right wing christian groups. Anti-gay is only part of those groups agenda, but they to teach you can be cured of gay-ness or pray-away-the-gay.

That`s why I don`t eat at Chic-fil-A... that and there aren`t any in my area.
