It`s just milk... Doesn`t seem that odd to me... In fact that kid seems like he`s a damn genius. Too bad I don`t like warm milk.

It`s where the milk I drink comes from. In fact the milk he`s drinking is fresh not pasteurized like the crap milk America gets.

@madest...do you even know what pasteurization does to things like beer milk and wine? kills bacteria that make it spoil quickly

@16comets09 I`m sure he does, but seeing as milk directly from the cows uder is as fresh as it can possibly be, this (pasteurization) is not necessary. If you`ve ever had unpasteurized farm fresh milk, there is actually quite a difference in taste from pasteurized milk you get in a jug. When you compare you`ll notice pasteurized milk actually has a kind of cooked taste. This really is a matter of taste, personally I prefer fresh milk but unfortunately it`s not always convenient.

I wonder if there might be negative psychological effects? (e.g. unhealthy attachment to the cow)

@16comets09, Yes I do. Have you ever had fresh milk? Have you ever tried that skim of fat that floats atop a milk can? No you probably haven`t because you live in America where selling it is illegal. You don`t know what you`re missing.

It`s not illegal in Wisconsin. I`ve had it and it`s awesome!

madest: Pasteurization and Homogenization are not bad things, I drink milk nearly everyday and extol the benefits of vitamin D to all those that will listen. Link

If you want pro-biotics, there are safer sources for them other than unpasteurized milk.

After knowing a family that owns a dairy farm and all the bacteria and diseases their cows can suffer from, I`m all for Pasteurization and Homogenization.
(and yes, I drink milk nearly every day.)

How do you think they discovered how to drink milk as a food? Some caveman had to do this twenty thousand or so years ago. I know they should ween the kid because its unethical but its not really that bad. Its not like he is 13 and f@#$&*g the cow.

Actually, I`m with madest here...I also drink raw milk. Its better for you, healthy and if you KNOW WHERE IT COMES FROM (IE you know the farm conditions) its perfectly safe.

Mass produced raw milk would be deadly because of the crappy conditions the cows live in....but free range cow milk is perfectly safe.

viperjason: Perhaps you should read the FDA Page about raw vs. pasteurized milk.

Raw milk is no healthier than pasteurized milk and carries an increased risk of disease. As I said if you still want the pro-biotics, you can easily get them from safer sources.
