Why`s The Government Driving Folks Off Their Land?

People move to desert to get away from it all, and "it all" eventually catches up with them, kicks them out of desert.

Sometimes I think the funnest part of being a billionaire would be the option to help whoever needs it any time you want.

Musuko: Our American government now, is nothing like it was when it was first instituted. It has grown into a monster with it`s tendrils into everyone`s daily lives.

This government wants everyone under it`s thumb in some way, they want people reliant on the government so they can control them. To these bureaucrats, anyone living independently of `the system` is considered dangerous and needs to be crushed.

"Are you an American living in Europe by chance? If no, then your talking out of your butt."

No, I`m a European living in Europe...you know, that part of the world that has a history of ACTUAL oppressive governments.

Which somewhat puts the "oppression" you`re suffering into perspective.

Incidentally, to COMPLETELY finish Godwining this thread: to everyone who has their flag up, talking about revolution and overthrowing the government, take a look at history and see what tends to happen shortly after such revolutions...at the extremes of government that usually form the replacement.

What`s remarkable about the American revolution, and the arguably enlightened government that followed, is that it was a freak deviation from the norm. Don`t rely on it being the expected outcome. Not when the Soviet Union and the Third Reich, among others, are in our history books.

"Obamacare will eventually be a single payer system"

The UK has a single payer system (we have a tax called "national insurance" that pays for, among other things, our healthcare system, state pensions and unemployment benefit)...

...yet you`re still perfectly free to get private healthcare and insurance too.

So why do you assume it won`t be the same there?

Bullsh|t, most government workers are liberal minded socialist bureaucrats. You can`t ever get one fired, unless they do something truly horrible, their union SEIU protects them at all costs, and they really don`t give a damn who they hurt. These NAT bureaucrats operate on rumor and innuendo, they have you convicted in their mind before they even go out to inspect your property, they are busy bodies with nothing else better to do than harass people.

Its the goverments job to protect the people, so instead of messing with the people out in the desert that doesnt any harm, they should take care of there gang issues

as for the dessert folk didnt the samething happen to the hillbillies in tennessee and indiana where the people that didnt move got flooded by dams

if the government wants it they used to offer to buy it first, then ask you to leave, then annex you, but now it is sad that they just go straight to leave

someone is obviously misinforming these people. Inspectors do not require a search warrant to inspect the property.
Remember Jaycee Dugard and how she lived in that massive building code violation in her abductor`s backyard? The County Inspectors were in part found negligent when they did not follow on neighbors complaints about his property. So as a result I`d wager they are being hyper-vigilant now.

Its a drive for control, and nothing else-that`s all it needs to be. When people live on their own, supplying their own power and needs, they are out of the control of the government. NO cameras to watch then, no power to tax, no water and sewage service to tax, they are considered anti-American. I live in the desert, with slar and wind power, my own well, and raise animals and plants for my food and milk-the folks in this video would fit perfectly where I live. And I expect the same to happen to us one day. We don`t conform, and its seen as dangerous.

I`m not saying the politicians are the best people to be making those decisions...far from it. But they`re unlikely to be any worse than the ones already making those EXACT same decisions.

Musuko: Smaller government and fewer bureaucrats are a main component of conservatism. Michael Antonovich is a bureaucrat, I don`t care what party he says he`s apart of, people like him need to be ousted from office.

For the record, Democrats are trampling on people just the same as that Antonovich jerk.

As I said before it`s about government intrusion and control, They are scared of people that are self-reliant and that can live independently. As a general rule democrats want more and more rules and controls written into law and that`s a fact.

Obamacare`s `Independent Payment Advisory Board`, IPAB for short. The IPAB is where the rationing will take place, 15 members appointed by the president, those are the people that are going to decide who gets coverage and how much coverage, this is the `death panel` that was warned about. these are the people that will decide to `pull the plug` on granny and deny gramps his liver transplant.

What difference is there between a three storey building in a city centre, and one out in the desert? Because there are more likely to be people around one than the other? That`ll be a great comfort to the one person who is unlucky enough to be visiting the desert structure when it falls on him, isn`t it?

You know, CrakrJak, respecting law and authority is a big part of the conservative mentality. It`s funny to hear you speaking against law and order. Or do you only respect the law when you personally agree with it, hmm? Really now...cherry-picking what rules you want to follow is for religion, not building codes! Silly boy.

They just passed some laws that allow them to impose heavy fines if you plant something not on their list. (no im not referring to reefer)
the water company has been overcharging for a decade and they just got caught. instead of jail time they changed the heads of the company..... did not lower the prices...... btw if you water you lawn after 8am you can get a $10,000 dollar fine, yet you cannot drive across town without seeing broken water mains seeping through the pavement.

If you knew anything about code requirements you`d know that they vary from place to place. With cities, towns and suburbs having strict codes and regulations and remote unincorporated areas having none. Want to build a telephone pole home in the city? You`ll need an architectural certification on your plans, the proper permits and reviews and neighborhood approval. Along with the costs in the many thousands of dollars and high yearly tax payments. Build one out in the middle of nowhere? No problem, knock yourself out. They`ll happily accept the yearly taxes which are a fraction of the cost of incorporated areas.
Don`t make the mistake of justifying republicans nefarious deeds because eventually they will come after you as well.

"Sir, can you tell me why you are secret society that has murdered countless babies since the 1950`s and is solely responsible from the devaluation of the dollar?"

and you expect to get a response to that? LOL!!!

Also there are seriously so many one sided cases being given, like that whole connecting to the power grid thing, only in certain situations that code requires it.

Code requires these things because it`s dangerous to NOT have them especially for say, unknowing tenants living in someones unlawful trailer park.

Idiots are idiots and deserve what they get.

This is what you call a `Survivalists Compound` basically they try to do whatever they want, stockpile weapons(legally usually) fence themselves off from the rest of the world and break the law inside much like a cult. When someone comes and says, Uh Sir you need a building permit to do that, they put guns in their faces and tell em to leave.

No building codes are not just building codes. They vary depending where you live. It also depends on when the structures were built, and what areas are zoned such as residential, commercial, and agricultural. I highly doubt based on time period and zoning these structures are out of compliance when they were built. They are playing on these peoples ignorance, and should get, and invest in a real estate lawyer. Lawsuits usually do the job.

Basically some one or some people have their eye on the land for what ever reasoning. It`s the same history with the Native Americans past. The greedy feels no pity or remorse.

Type55 & Musuko: There is always more than one way to live safely. There is no law that says you must be connected to the electrical grid, the water systems, or other city services, especially when those services do not even reach your property.

You can drill a water well, store water in cisterns, erect windmills and solar panels for electrical power, install a septic system, recycle your trash, grow your own food, raise your own animals and live totally free from the outside world.

The problem is the government is scared of people that live independently like that, they don`t have control over them, so they harass and investigate them endlessly.

I don`t believe in conspiracy theories, but when the county government goes out of its way to make up stupid excuses about why people have to leave, it`s clear their up to something. For example, the guy who was told he was violating zoning laws because
1) Bushes around the outside of his property
2) The position of his shed
3) He has a trailer on his property
After fixing all of these issues they told him he has to leave his property anyways. It`s clear they`re just making up excuses to kick people off of their property.
And then at the end, his press secretary says that they`re just responding to complaints, saying they`re just "conspiracy theories", acting like they have the best interest of the residents in mind... That`s a load of horse poo.
I just want to know what the county wants to do with that land.

@kittyloaf I agree the the unspecified neighbor that complaines is lame, but codes aren`t there to keep the value of the land high. They are the "best practices" that are put there to keep people safe and to make sure people don`t do thinks that could endanger their live and the lives of other people. some of them suck, but the law is the law

@Building codes are building codes. so if you live in the city, you have to abide by them, but if you live in the desert, you don`t have to? the math on that doesn`t add up.

Clearly something is up here. Some of the people literally had no neighbors to complain about codes. They are in the middle no where.

Also, throughout the past few years there have been a few cases of the government being overly aggressive for "codes". "We dont like that bush, destroy your house and move away", seems unreasonable. The purpose of the code is to keep value high for people who want to buy the land, but in this case, there is no one who wants to buy land in the middle of the desert.
