Wheatley Puppet

Someone made an awesome animatronic Wheatley puppet. Now we just need a handheld portal device and life will be great.

Wheatley was one of the main characters from Portal 2. And why the puppet? Why not.

As to why he blinked, it`s hard to be a character when you`re a still picture.

Why would a robot blink it`s eye?

WTF is a Wheatley and Why would anybody want it to be a puppet?

If only she was a ventriloquist as well! That would`ve been awesome!

@Steelgrid
First, you are WAY to excited.
Second, I`m pretty sure you can`t patent anything that`s really only stolen stuff.

Sorry about the triple post.....

The model could also include a potato "docking station" for the times when it is not really plugged into a potato.

AHH you could make a toy line. A talking Wheatley and GladoS Separate cores that could both attach to a main computer body.

It needs to have the phrase, "Birds!!! Kill it, they are evil!!"

I wonder how much it would cost to get a patent for a GladoS model that has preprogrammed phrases and lights that work that can actually run on a potato. I mean, how cool would that be, and it is completly plausible!!! You just take the toy out of the package, attach the electrodes to the bottom of the toy, slam it into a potato and then press the yellow "Eye" of Glados to make it ligght up and it would say a phrase....

I think I seriously need to go blueprint it and patent it...NOW!!!

@Lucky2u
in the game wheatley`s eyelids are flat and move up and down so obviously in real life they would slide straight up through his casing but the puppet is made with angled ones that slide back into the... "head"

Perhaps it`s a sign of advancing age that I have no clue what a Wheatley is.

@Ralcuparta:

Of course it`s less complex - but it`s still impressive that they managed to get the same feel and look of Wheatley.

The problem in the game IIRC was that the eyelids were larger than the actual ball of whateley`s eye, and the curve of the sphere would have prevented them from sliding back - and so I`m impressed that the creator managed to keep the model looking so similar while not running into the same issue.

that`s all.

Are you guys seriously discussing the "physical impossibility" thing from the developer comments or is this all trolling? It`s pretty obvious that the in-game model is MUCH more complex than this puppet.

- Handheld portal device model exists.
- Potato!GLaDOS exists.
- This Wheatley exists.

Life is awesome.

no - actually Lucky2U has a very good point - the puppet is awesome - but yea - they said his eyelids can`t exist...

That earns bonus respect for the person who made this - they got around valve`s own issues with making the character somehow!

haha that`s awesome. Wheatley pretty much made that game what it was - I was honestly sad when he was off somewhere else and you had to trek around without his inane banter.

`Course - the green one with all the nattering about space and junk - that was freaking hilarious too.

Is Wheatley`s voice done by Karl Pilkington? He sounds just like him.

But wait a second... in the developer commentary for that game they talk about programming impossible spaces (for example a room that is much bigger on the inside than the outside) and one of those impossible spaces was wheatly`s eyelids. They made a big deal about how his eye lids can`t exist in real life because when they open they slide into space that doesn`t exist so how the hell did they build that?
