BTW, weren`t we supposed to run out of rice a few years ago? And here we are still getting it free with our take out orders.

If you want to see a food riot, head on down to any grocery store in RI right now and try to buy a bread or milk - someone with fight you to the death for an english muffin. I was waiting in line at Dunkie`s this morning for a coffee and due to the fact that it took 7 or so extra minutes because there were so many people, everyone was beeping and hollering and hanging out their windows. It was frickin insane.

Even if this is Fox News, this story is pretty accurate. But it`s ok, if Americans finally slim down we can avoid the upcoming diabetes epidemic.

Clearly I need more ammo - I`m a bit short on .40 s&w and 8mm mauser - only have about 800 rounds of each of those.

Got plenty of 9mm though.

I have tons of MREs from when i was in the army though =D

seems kind of ironic that this video is an apparent ad for "gourmet storable food" which is likely terribly expensive.
Lots of corn farmers are paid to not grow corn or grow a lot less of it.
I thought it was the other way around. I thought they were subsidized to make more and keep prices down.

... keep prices down artificially because so much stuff is made of corn.

Sterilization of the masses would be a good idea especially in third world countries. If you can`t afford to feed yourself how the hell do you expect to feed a family? There are too many people on this planet, why the hell do we need anymore? The governments should start fining people for having kids not paying them as they do now. People should be made to apply to the government to have just one child and that application process should be lengthy, expensive & rigorous. I know this sounds pretty extreme, but something has to be done. Just saying that in the not so distant future when something like a food shortage becomes reality don`t be bitchin at me when I cave in your mans head with a baseball bat for that last box of fruit loops! I`m not the one with the kids!

Sooooo, they`re saying that extreme weather is causing food shortages....what could possibly be the cause of that extreme weather? (hint...somethin Fox "News" watchers will deny.) Yep. Maybe Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry, and the other "the end times are near" politicians are right...LMFAO!!!! NOT!

If the US borrows more than it can pay, then the value of the dollar is less as the country will have to print more money to pay its debts. If the dollar falls, then its purchasing power falls. Commodity prices, for which demand is global, rise.

Just be glad you aren`t poor. The poor are the ones that actually suffer the consequence of the wars and largesse.

"REJOYCE! Mandatory dieting about to sweep fat, fat, FAT USA."

*rejoice.

Btw. Whilst America does have an obesity rate of 30.6% (which is awful). Australia is at a rate of 21.7%. Less than an 9% difference. So here`s a stone for that glass house you`re living in, junkaroo. (Get it? Stone? Weight? ha freaking ha)

Regarding the video, I also would like to call bullpoo.

It will now that news corps are hyperboling the whole thing. Future speculators will buy stocks on betting on such to happen. Just like oil and gold. Thus the real reason for costs to go up. Another scare monger trick to make more profit. However the sad part food will go up becuase of these douchebags.

Thanks Fox news way to screw the populatino with your hyper bull crap.

Considering how much americans OVER-EAT, i think they`ll be surviving a "light harvest" just fine. Just like the stately marmott, that fat is there for just such an occasion folks.

Spun correctly: REJOYCE! Mandatory dieting about to sweep fat, fat, FAT USA.

I didn`t even bother watching the video. Once I seen the "fox business" logo in the background I knew it was a bullpoo scare tactic. They are taking advantage of people in the midwest freaking about the storm rolling through to scare the hell out of others.

What garbage. The US alone produces enough food to feed half the world. There is plenty of food. Its the greedy ass supermarkets that throw away 20-40% of their food stock instead of donating that food to food pantries or what not. Many stores goes as far as pouring bleach on all the food they throw out so some homeless guy cant get to it.

90% of price inflation is caused by the federal reserve and plain old money printing, something fox will never touch upon

If it were to happen, which it won`t, most people have enough fat stored to survive for a couple of years.

we do not lack the ability to produce enough food for the global population, only the will. millions of tons of food is left unused because of trade agreements and mismanagement. Also, the types of food we are demanding are extremely inefficient.1 lb of beef "requires" 7 lbs. Sure beef provides more nutrition, up to 3 times as much, however if you consider the resources(land, water, and time)the equation becomes more and more lopsided on the side of grains and legumes. It is the age old tale of death by poor foresight and understanding, and even poorer choices on the part of the consumer/producer.also, the report seemed to imply that there were going to be food riots in the U.S., because of the riots in 2008...these riots were mostly in third world countries who have not themselves developed the ability to feed themselves yet have no problem increasing their populations.

I am getting sick of all these FN posts getting passed as actual news.

Worse, they`re not even videos that make fun of the FN `coverage`.
Worse still, not even the description tries to make fun of them.

WTF is wrong with you IAB?

I wonder; when Fox is training their reporters on how to strike fear in the hearts of America`s. Do they train them to use sad depressed faces to?

Unfortunately though; i do believe food prices will sky rocket after America loses the World Reserve Currency; But as Gerry said, not this year.

I know everyone thinks americans are fat, and by god most of us are! but that doesnt mean that its easy for most of us to afford our groceries in the first place...I barely make enough to cover rent and utilities between two jobs, and even foodstamps dont get my 4 person household through the month. ...so when things like food prices rise, everything gets messed up for me...I cant afford to pay 5dollars for a box of cereal (which is what is costs where i live in oregon) let alone think what would happen if things went up again...if they do, i dont want to hear about it in advance...thats for sure.

Considering how much food Americans can get in a "meal deal" at any fast food chain, I think you will be fine.
My friend goes to the States often to visit her boyfriend, and she says at Cold Stone a small sundae there is what our medium looks like. Same thing goes for coffee, soft drinks, and fries.
What you will most likely see is that the cost of food won`t go up, but they will just start giving you much less. Least I think that`s the most logical answer.
