It is the bad cyclists that make it hard for everyone else, just like it`s the bad truck drivers that make the rest of us think that truckies are jerks, and it`s the idiot motorcyclists that make everyone think that all motorcycles are rolling death machines.

@McGovern - just because some spandex wearing as.holes don`t understand their place on the road doesn`t mean none of us do. Some of us just can`t afford to drive and want to get to work faster and cheaper than it would take to ride the bus. Not trying to preach any message, not trying to get in your way, just trying to get around the city.

It`s a shop, "Get a bike. Break free!" is the shop. The original is for a satnav company. Also I think this is a repost, but w/e.

Cyclists are egocentric morons but on the bright side you can save on gas by selling their bikes for scrap metal after you run them over! For every pussy I see thinking they`re going to help the enviroment and ride a bike I`m burning a tire.

kairobert who is located in europe said this: "There are so many reasons not to drive. People are egocentric morons."

Consider me an egocentric moron because I work 20+ miles from home and equally far to go to school. May I ask your enlightened suggestion?

And no, there is not public transit in this area that can accomodate my travels. The only difference between our bikes is that mine has an engine.

" cops have to start cracking down on them when they don`t follow the rules of the road."
The same should apply for road users, particularly women who drive and do their make up whilst on the phone

I hate cyclists. If more people are going to start riding bicycles on the road, cops have to start cracking down on them when they don`t follow the rules of the road.
There are wonderful examples of cities and towns overseas and at home that have excellent and usable cycle routes. Equally there are an awful lot of places that don`t have them at all, or have half arsed attempts to do them.
It would be generous to call the cycle lanes in my home city "half-arsed". "tenth-arsed", maybe :)

There are a few disconnected segments, some of them only a few yards long, taking up bits of pavement. So people use them as part of the pavement.

I can`t really blame the council for it - there simply isn`t enough space in the city to allocate lots of it to bicycle use only. Which, no doubt, is a common problem in cities.
the last line "break free, get a bike" is the most obvious `shop i have ever seen.
The original was an advert for something car-related. I forget what - I didn`t pay attention to it.

I`ve just looked it up - it`s an advert for satnav systems.

Man, biking sure does sound nice when you live in a temperate, flat city!

And police them appropriately and justly.

Klamz: "When you see someone on a bike and your driving in your car to go 3 miles to the store, just think of it as a reminder of how pathetic you`ve become."

And let me laugh at you as we pass you by carrying a full family load of food shopping in our car, whilst you struggle on the bike.

Bikes have uses, as does cars, but until there is such a network set up, where everything you do or need in life can be done in a more environmentally way, then both need to co-habit on the road.

Ma lot of cars do not want, expect, or can deal with the side by side presence of both motorcycles as well as pedal cycles. This puts them into high risk on the roads. Both users of bikes can be as "dangerous" as cars, so both sides can be to blame, but the death rate and serious injury is far higher on the bike side, due to the the fact they`re more exposed, less padding persay (car sides etc, not fat :P)

All areas need to add in proper cycle routes,

BBBBB, you know that you have to be aware of your surroundings as well, right? You`d think someone would learn after being hit once...but 4 times? Damn.

BBBBB:

I`ve been car free for almost 5 years now, ride my bike at least 15 miles usually more each day. Never been hit by a car - you`re doing something wrong!

I must say, I love my bikes and I go flying by cars on them and stay ahead of them. As I can and am supposed to pull right up to the front at a stoplight, with stoplights ever quarter mile or less I get where I`m going much faster than any car.

Did I mention that I`m also very health because of it and laugh every day at the 60% of overweight and 30% obese people in the US.

When you see someone on a bike and your driving in your car to go 3 miles to the store, just think of it as a reminder of how pathetic you`ve become.

As a guy who only has a bike, I would much rather have a car. Been hit by careless drivers 4 times (neglecting traffic signs, pulling out of driveways/lightcorners without stopping) two totaled my bike.

i think its ironic that this sign is up where there seems to be snow outside. I live in Chicago and even uber liberal tree hugging hipsters aren`t dumb enough to ride their bikes in the winter.
