what innovative technology did prius bring to the table?

and apparently you couldn`t convince that guy to give it a try, so how good is it, really?

Bicycles have been just fine for a century, you don`t need to spend hundreds of dollars for automatic transmission and a derpy outfit to ride it.

Oh and was this about the bike or about Prius? Because I couldn`t tell.

    ohohoho wireless shifting!
    Brainwaves? WTF?
    The processor`s too big.
They should just make it an auto shifter.

And add regenerative braking, of course.

drating sweet. I`ve been waiting for SOOOO long now to be able to trade cash for a substitute to penis size with regards to bicycles!! Now I can be a pretentious douchebag even when I`m not in my Prius which while it puts ou less emissions does just as much damage in production as any other vehicle!

A bike just like the Prius: economically impractical, environmentally questionable and targeted at rich, smug, (and even though the word is overused, it is still the only appropriate description) douche bags.

how is this the future? it doesn`t help your ride in any way shape or form.

"you strap this device to your brain and it changes gears for you durr"

My fingers are wired to my brain and do the exact same thing.

if they can make this bike weigh 2 pounds, and sell it for under five hundred dollars THAT`D be an improvement i`d like to see.

I thought Prius was supposed to be about going "green". You actually have to have an iPad and an iPhone to operate this thing. That`s not very green at all.

Interesting project, but I think I want to change gears with my fingers. It seems easier to fix, should something go wrong (and something eventually will), and it seems safer/easier/cheaper/lighter to change gears the old fashioned way. This goes for cars too.

Yeah, also I think the reason the bike is still one of the best (if not THE) best inventions of humankind is its simplicity. Two wheels, a bit of metal in between and manual gears. Want to fix it? Do it yourself, or at least, NOT pay 500 bucks for someone to do it.
If they want to reinvent the bike, they should create a cheap, light city bike that supports you going up a down hills alot (in a mechanical way, not some fancy motor).
An expensive bike will get stolen.

LAME if you compare it to PG`s Blacktrail electric bike:

...weight only 43.6 lbs, battery: 150 minutes charging time, 124 miles maximum range. Maximum speed up to 62 mph. OLED display, full carbon fiber wheelset, carbon + magnesium frame, LED lights,... soooo want...

I`d say this makes an over-all fail for these guys; I didn`t see anything really innovative... they just took an existing simple design and filled it with unnecessary electronics to do what the existing mechanics already did. It`s probably much more expensive than it`s worth.

Well... It`s not "bad" exactly, but you get very little benefit considering the costs... the price, the fact that you have to wear a helmet with your headset, the extra weight of the thing on your back, the added time it takes to "set up" that interface, any lagging or problems that come out of using an interface, risk of theft... you`ve got a smart phone attached to your bike.

Hey! I have a better idea... how about you make it so that the gears shift automatically with zero input depending on the speed of the bike and the force applied to the pedals. Automatic transmission. No needed input whatsoever.
