Once again the geeks make the thread more entertaining than the actual photo.... any religious posts today?

I like it!

The important thing is that the "i" stands for Imaginary unit. The term "imaginary" is used because there is no real number having a square that is negative. Therefore, "i" can only exist as a real number if it is squared thus "Keeping it real"

Or, my favorite:

Resistance is futile (if <1 ohm).

i^2 = -1, a real number.

i is irrational

etc.

oh you university hoodies

For those of you who don`t get it.

i squared = -1

-1 = "negative one"

Someone who is negative like to say they are "keeping it real".

They`re all irrational! Hahaha I like it :)
So MeGrendel`s explanation sounded pretty plausible and would actually make it funny, but then people were saying his explanation was incorrect. So then how is the hoodie still funny?
His explanation is almost correct, except i-squared is -1, not +1.

But -1 is still a real number, so the hoodie still makes sense.

Hahaha I like it.
They`re all irrational.
thats right...i DID get a bigger laugh out of laughing at you...

If you square "root of -1", you get -1 not +1. The power goes on the outside of the square root.

>____>

Squaring a negative gives you a positive, so isquared is the square root of 1, or one.

1 is a Real Number.

Thus, i is not real, it`s imaginary. i squared equals a Real Number. "Keeping it Real"
