Errand boy

About to go bankrupt. Ignorant idiots in the government have just banned short selling to "protect" bank shares, a sure sign that their banks are bust. The Euro is going to implode soon, and France is the largest nation whose government is probably broke (although of course it is only about 6th in the line to actually go bust).

So France is great, in terms of a physical piece of real estate, as usual. As usual it is full of French people and run by the French and EU governments. So it`s a terrible place.

"He feels the government should play no role in helping people"

... that`s where you said he wanted to government to not have power, instead of federal government.

"So why isn`t Rob Paul`s focus on making the federal government more efficient?"

why does the federal government have to be in charge of everything? Why not give the power to the people who are nearest the problem? Why do you want to have a blanket policy on everything? Each problem is different, and each solution is different. We don`t need to have one policy that offends the least amount of people as the solution for everything.

To make the government efficient you would have to completely restructure it and take away the checks and balances. Its the inefficiency that keeps the federal government from being able to be a tyrant.

You know what is efficient, a small group of people who make all the laws and have the military enforce them. That`s efficient.

"He`s not against government having power he is against FEDERAL government having power that it`s not supposed to have."

I never said he didn`t want the government to have power. Sounds like you are putting words into people`s mouths.

"The federal government is the most inefficient, bureaucratic, and bloated thing in america."

So why isn`t Rob Paul`s focus on making the federal government more efficient?

And for the Republicans: We made damn sure that nothing got done as best as we could, watched the economy tank as a result, and then laughed and blamed the Democrats for not fixing anything all in a desperate attempt to regain the White House in 2012! Aren`t we so trustworthy/noble/honest?

It`s really annoying how adamantly opposed people are to Ron Paul for such ignorant and stupid reasons.

"Rob Paul is a moron. I am a libertarian, by definition, but he`s the only person so far keeping me from voting libertarian. Do you really think we need to privatize public parks? There would be a McDonalds at every public play ground if we did that!

He also feels that the government should play no role in helping people who live in unsafe zones (i.e. flood zones, hurricane zones, earthquake zones, tornado zones, etc.)."

He`s not against government having power he is against FEDERAL government having power that it`s not supposed to have. The federal government is the most inefficient, bureaucratic, and bloated thing in america. It`s also so far removed from the problems that it can`t really know what they are and even if it is aware of the problems it`s too political for it to effectively do something about it. We don`t need to rely on the Fed

The real discussion is always, "Who did it first?" or "Who does it worse?".

Political discussions like politics itself seldom offer solutions.

"Remember that Jeffs was not on trial for polygamy, he was on trial for the statutory rape"

Bringing up Jeffs when talking about Romney has nothing to do with polygamy or rape. It`s because they`re both Mormons. A key issue with a lot of voters. Meanwhile, every mormon I`ve known (although none being polygamists) have been republicans.

"Tell your sister she`s a moron."

I`d love to know how you manage to dissect my english so horribly you thought my sister didn`t know she was an athiest. Mormon talk > Sister thinking sister wives is a cool idea > Sister not interested in it though due the whole no such thing as god. It was a fairly simple train of thought.

President "lead from behind" is clearly not in charge any more. He was just as intransigent as Boehner during the debt limit talks, and he didn`t come up with any alternative (at least not one written down that we could read). Yell "hooray for my candidate" all you want, but don`t expect any of them to be able to be effective once elected (esp. Ron Paul). I`d much prefer a conservative line up in office, but no one`s gonna be happy for a very long time.

I hate to say this, but I think it will take a major depression or global catastrophe, with much deeper pain & suffering than we have now, before we can get any government to stop futzing about and start being productive.

That`s the problem. Both Libs and Cons have 3rd party candidates that more effectively represent their ideals than the current politicians, yet neither will prevail. Look at Ron Paul....He says we should end the wars...both parties go "YAY!"....he says Legalize marijuana....now there are some cons agreeing with him...he says "privatize public parks"...well...sorry, as a Liberal, I don`t want to see us on a road to selling out Yellowstone, Yosemite, or any other park to the nearest and richest developer.
He`s one fu^ked up dude.

Please, McCain would have driven us further into the ground. Can you seriously imagine a world where Palin is vice president? I don`t think presently there is a single Presidential candidate who is up to the job of being our President with the current state of our country. I think Obama would have been a better President if we weren`t buried in a pile of poo... but we are buried in a pile of poo. I get the feeling (especially with how childish and stupid our elected officials are acting) that we will be in a pile of poo for a fair amount of time.

the american government at nearly all levels is crap at the moment. it seems that everyone is in for self interest/party interest/ special interest and the representation of "we the people" is practically gone. somehow, we`ve all been riled into the blame game, and everyone is too busy blaming to actually get anything done.

Cain also promises that when elected, he can solve our debt crisis using his financial plan he refers to as "the Cain Plan", while simultaniously admitting that it might only be effective if implimented at the beginning of the debt crisis... which happens to be in the PAST!!!

"You voted for Obama to prove you`re not racist."

I actually know at least two self proclaimed racist people who voted for Obama. They said that they "would rather see one black man succede than give amnesty to 14 million illegal migrant Mexicans."

There words, not mine. While I don`t really agree with their logic, I`m glad they voted for him.

Is Obama the best person for the job? Probably not. But he was the best of those who stepped up.

I don`t need to support Obama to prove I`m not racist. My black girlfriend is proof enough.

I don`t care for Herman Cain because of several reasons. First off, any man who says we are "free at last... Again!" is not a well educated man. I trust I don`t need to explain this further.

He also thinks it`s simple for the government to just stop funing programs. But he doesn`t take into account how many civilian jobs are counting on government funding.

@ FoSchizle: They never had 60 reliable votes in the Senate. The Republicans filibustered everything the Democrats tried to accomplish for two years. They actually set a record for filibusters. Were you living under a rock all that time? How could you not know this basic fact?

There are still hundreds of vacant federal offices because the Republicans filibustered Senate approval of every single Obama appointment, just to be jerks.
The Republican party has been hijacked by wacko extremists, the Dems are spineless pussies who are either too afraid to stand up for their beliefs, or are outright DINO`s, and you are not well informed in today`s politics.

Hmm... sound familiar?

The Democrats even had all 3 branches for two years and STILL didn`t pass a budget. So don`t blame Republicans for a stand still, they`ve done their part in passing budgets and bills.

Ommfg with the Ron Paul already. It`s a waste of a vote. The only thing you are accomplishing by voting for him is turning the vote completely imbalanced to one side more than the other of the two major parties (depending on your county, district, state etc.,). yes, you might agree with him on a lot of things, as do I. But seriously, There is major flaws in this whole two party system where only the majors get a real swing at bat, and the funding to boot. Don`t vote Ron Paul. You`d be better off spending your time during the election actually protesting this unpatriotic practice during this act of `democracy.` Sitting there with your thumbs up your ass, silently voting for a non-factor amounts to about the same as not voting any way. Right?

lilliandulci. . A republican dressed as a democrat? Just because he went with the flow (can`t fight the under current), doesn`t make him republican. His socialist views are far too left from what a lot of the conservative base wanted in the leading role. But keep thinking like that. It`s how general population end up voting for poo they don`t know about and then complain about it later.

"If Obama would actually do something useful he might find a broader base of suport."

When you say "useful", do you mean things like:
1. Launching recovery.gov to track spending from the Recovery Act, providing transparency and allowing the public to report fraud, waste, or abuse?

2. Providing the Department of Veterans Affairs with more than $1.4 billion to improve services to America`s Veterans?

3. Signing the Children`s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act, which provides health care to 11 million kids -- 4 million of whom were previously uninsured?

4. Or even issuing executive order to repeal Bush era restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research?

All of those things seem pretty useful to me. I`m not sure what your definition of "useful" is.

"The fact that he is black has nothing to do with why we Republicans dislike him."

Nothing? Are you sure about that?

Remember that Jeffs was not on trial for polygamy, he was on trial for the statutory rape of a 12 year old and a 15 year old. ...but my guess is that most who are accepting of polygamy as a concept wouldn`t vote for a Republican anyway.
