98 Americans, a bloody massacre and Diego Maradona. Didn`t realise the US had so many of the most iconic sports moments, congratulations. All football(soccer) fans like myself love to look back at that second most iconic moment our sports ever had caught on camera when that American woman we`ve never heard of celebrated that goal that we never knew happened during that match we didn`t know existed. Oh and who could forget when Landon Donovan scored that miraculous goal that got team USA through to the second round, a uniquely great achievement matched by only 15 other nations at that World Cup. Fond memories.
I hereby present paddy215 with one hundred internets. Still lolling.

The 101 most iconic photographs in American sports history.

Even so, its hard to believe anyone would put in four soccer pictures, two of which featured the American team. hohoho.

If it was Irish the #1 would be Packie Bonner saving a penalty in the 1990 world cup.

"Stuff that he missed:- Jamaican bob sleigh team crashing in Calgary 1986, Nadia Comaneci Becomes First Gymnast to Achieve Perfect 10 in Montreal 1976, Steve Redgrave getting his 5th Olympic Gold in 5 consecutive Olympics, Ian Thorpe oblittering the competition in Sydney 2000, Jonah Lomu single handedly destroying England in the 1993 rugby world cup quarter final, Botham snatching victory from the jaws of defeat by refusing to give in in the 3rd test of the 1981 ashes - which led to us eventually winning overall..."

those are iconic events...not iconic photographs

BR is an american site, so the slides will be american dominated. i saw a similar playlist where we were warned that the creator was an american so that we should be prepared for some of the less american sports (hockey, rugby, soccer etc) not be as numerous or as well ranked as many other people deem it so.

1 was deserved, but I was going to say what marcus2 already said. Maybe not number 1, but that image should at least be in this list, it`s considerably more "iconic" than many of those pics.

The hating on American Sports from my fellow Europeans (and Australians), is brilliant.

Although I do agree, there was a distinct lack of football (soccer), Rugby, Cricket, F1 - all of which are huge sports.

Way too many pics of Yankees...
Number 10 should definitley be higher up

More stuff he missed;

Man Utd doing the treble in 1999, despite being 1-0 down in the 88th minute (coming through to win 2-1 by the 93rd).

Red Rum winning his third grand national in 1977 (the horse is buried in the shadow of the winning post),

Sachin Tendulkar getting a double century in a 1 day international last year,

Jonny Wilkinson kicking *that* drop goal to win the rugby world cup final for England in extra time

The 2008 mens wimbledon final between Federer and Nadal, often referred to as the greatest final ever.

Schumacher becoming the most successful F1 driver, ever.

You can go on and on with sports that the rest of the world plays but America`s not very good at.

George Bush lobbing a baseball is considered to be one of the 101 most iconic moments in sporting history? That`s obviously bs, but I can`t believe it would even feature in American sporting history`s top 101. And was there any american football moment of note that he didn`t include?!

Cycling only got a spot cos Armstrong is American, and Rugby only got a spot cos he`s obviously seen the film Invictus, staring 2 Americans in the lead roles.

Stuff that he missed:- Jamaican bob sleigh team crashing in Calgary 1986, Nadia Comaneci Becomes First Gymnast to Achieve Perfect 10 in Montreal 1976, Steve Redgrave getting his 5th Olympic Gold in 5 consecutive Olympics, Ian Thorpe oblittering the competition in Sydney 2000, Jonah Lomu single handedly destroying England in the 1993 rugby world cup quarter final, Botham snatching victory from the jaws of defeat by refusing to give in in the 3rd test of the 1981 ashes - which led to us eventually winning overall...
