meh - capable of operating in an ENCLOSED 3d space.

The vertical swarmabots need to be able to work without a ceiling, that or the eyebot`s could be extended to fasten lines for a groundbot with pulling grunt.

Anyway, I want a device that can fetch me beer, make me a sandwich, and ***** ** *** and look pleasing to the eye...

Comfort in knowing that we are very far from being taken over by intelligent robots.

razlem - It makes sense that way if you only look at it in the short-term. Yes, right now it might be inefficiant and would be faster/easier for a human to do it, but as it`s made, it can only get better. If you look at computers - fifteen years ago, hell, even ten years ago computers weren`t anywhere near as good as they are today.

Would be a great system for work in a radiated environment.

Why ask someone to do it for you when you can spend valuable time and resources creating something that can do it with one-hundredth the efficiency? :D

better robotics, one step at a time
interesting they`re still using "Monkey/Bananas" as the test for it tho, that problem`s old as hell

That is way to cool, honestly think about how quickly our robotics is advancing. it`ll be like the movies soon. and us young people will be the first to experience it.

@turtle While the exact mechanics of the robots may not be suitable for space exploration their use of multiple robots that communicate between each other over short distances is. Read their website they got some cool poo swarmanoid.

finally! no more walking over to the bookshelf. all it takes is an army of robots instead of my arms and legs.

they said interplanetary exploration
there aint any flat ceiling in space for the ibot to connect itself to or for the hand bot to use to hold its weight when climing
the whole aspect of using robots for exploration missions just fails

i think the whole point is that there isn`t...otherwise it would be kind of lame, and there would be no need for the networking aspect.
