@OldOllie: I`ll remember that when we elect someone who actually stands by legalizing pot, gay marriage, and the same access ti politicians that those with lobbyists have.

I admire a man with principles. That`s one reason why I have such contempt for this guy.

@lauriloo- I`m currently on Welfare because I`m suspended from my job until September. IF it was financially feasable, I think EVERY welfare recipient should have a mandatory drug test every two months. If they fail, then they cannot receive ANY benefits for six months. After the six months are over, it`s starts all over again.I live in the projects and I`m the only person in a building of 26 apartments that has a job. Yet everybody in my building can afford alcohol,pot,crack,...whatever. It`s horsepoo. They`re excuse is that there`s no jobs, so why bother.

I have to disagree with the prez and say that I honestly DO think legalizing marijuana would open up a new opportunity for jobs! AND help boost the economy and it`s cheap too! BUT lauriloo has a point, ppl are gonna be toasted like crazy, but as far as unable to work- I would think ppl will go to work stoned no more than they would go to work wasted. I think it would be like any other recreational substance.

There has to be some cons here though... I wish I had a better perspective on them. :/ So unfortunately my opinion is biased bc I`m not educated on the other half of this debate.

Intellectually, I think pot is no worse than alcohol and should be legal. BUT- I hope they do it after I`m dead because I`m afraid the first few years after it`s legal will be full of people constantly strung out, unable to work (economy goes to hell) and doing all sorts of reckless things until the novelty wears off and people learn to do it responsibly.

I just want to say this. When the DEA raids selected medical marijuana dispensaries, it makes me think that there`s something going on at those ones in particular, and not that there is a program against them all.

Either way, on the federal level, pot is currently illegal. If you run a store that sells something illegal, you have to expect the government will come in and stop you, no matter how right or wrong your "cause."

First of all, the President is a puppet. He`s being controlled by big business, just like the rest of the government. They tell him what to say and he says it. When cornered with a question that he wasn`t expecting he chokes. This poor guy inherited such a screwed up administration, he will always be known as the first black President to completely destroy America. He`ll probably win the next election, because he does just what the corporations want him to do. He`s a yes man.

So that`s a reason why we should keep it criminalized?

You guys criticize him for not being able to make up his mind. Personally, I commend him for looking at both sides of the issue and understanding that either direction has massive consequences.

Morons who say that we should legalize it and then tax it are not looking at the big picture. First off, unlike cigarettes, that are mostly a mixture of chemicals that prevent the general public from making them, Marijuana is a hardy plant that grows well everywhere (hence the name Weed). Trying to tax pot will be like trying to tax people for growintomatoesos at home. It`s easier said than done. In fact, it would be damn near impossible.

Also think about all of the money that our government and justice system will lose. Think about all the fines people have to pay for having a roach in their car when they get pulled over. How much money and property will no longer be confiscated during drug raids. We stand to lose billions.

Plus it is great to be Canadian where it is legal.
Well legal enough where we dont fill up our jails.

The guy is stuck in between two schools of thoughts. He will have to slice since he obviously can`t keep pleasing everyone and he just can`t keep clowning around like that.

If I was in his shoes, I would legalize it.

Oh, and the pot thing. That`s effed as well.

I believe that man has no spine and no principles. From what I see, he just says and does whatever seems popular at the moment. You Americans need leadership. I don`t care whether it is democrat or republican, but leadership. For democracy to work, the leader has to stick to his election manifesto.

I still don`t get why this is an issue. I have never smoked pot, but I can tell you right now that legalizing it would be more beneficial than leaving it in the untaxed state that it is. Legalize it. Tax it. Regulate it. It is not that hard.

Why pander to a puppet? Votes and positions will change nothing. Only numbers will force these changes. Not that I`m trying to incite a riot or anything, just saying.

When they finally get what they want, they seem to forget what they said before they were elected.

"Weclome to the Right side @madest, try to act your age, m-kay?"

So many of your posts contain the word "right" or "left", which indicates how much of a sheep you are by categorizing. The world is not black and white, even though your only friends, the felines might be. Learn to think for yourself and stop being a blind follower.

soo... it`s pretty obvious that the guy is scared to lose votes by the idiots that base all their judgments on preconceived notions that pot is bad. he`s trying to get elected again, so he can`t be TOO controversial right? isn`t that the game? isn`t that POLITICS?

He gave me all the change I needed by not being a moron like the last guy. This is troublesome but I`m afraid other forces keep this war alive. Namely Big Pharma. They`d much rather have people pay for their drugs which can possibly kill rather than a naturally growing weed that hasn`t killed anybody. Once again policy is controlled by money and greed.

@nad_skcab: Um, the people shooting guns and doing violence in these videos are the POLICE! You got it bass-ackwards, eh?
One doesn`t "give guns" to the wrong people, the criminals HAVE guns regardless of any stupid "laws".
@Adokenai: Holland`s `gun problem` (as well as Canada`s) is that the citizens have NO guns, but the criminals do! They know the average person is utterly defenseless, unlike in Alabama, eh?

i think the important thing being shown here is not the subject itself, but the fact that obama is so willing to flip flop on issues.

`course, that`s like 98% of all politicians, so par for the course i guess

"This is the dumbest video I`ve seen all week. They`re trying to show that it will bring violence and shootings. Here`s the thing... with guns! i imagine a Republican made this video and how many republicans are against gun control? yeah, if you give pot to the wrong people, things can get violent. Whilst your comment was quite contradictory to itself, I do have to point out one thing...

"yeah, if you give pot to the wrong people, things can get violent"

@nad_skcab

You do realize that in Holland, where pot is legal and guns are illegal, there`s a TON of problems involving drugs and guns, right? Lots of criminal activity involving the pot, lots of medical problems caused by pot and tons of people who have guns illegally and shoot people with them. Legalizing pot isn`t going to change poo, whether you like it or not. I`m FROM Holland, I lived there for 21 years and I`ve seen it all. The 2 years that I`ve lived in Alabama where pot`s illegal and guns aren`t, I`ve had a LOT less run ins with violence than any 2 years back in Holland.

This is the LEAST IMPORTANT ISSUE TO BOTHER THE F*#%#*ING PRESIDENT ABOUT.
Do you know what percent of the US state prison population is in jail for ONLY marijuana possession? 0.3%, 2/3 of whom have prior con- victions. 0.3%. THIS IS NOT AN IMPORTANT ISSUE.
"Well, what about federal prisons?" Pot possession is a STATE crime, unless you are trafficking, e. g. you have a suitcase, semi-truck, or mini-sub full. Even so, federal drug possession convictions (all drugs) are 0.1% of total felony convictions.
"Well, I knew a guy who..." No you didn`t. You just heard a story, and you heard it from another stoner. And if the guy even existed, he probably did zero jail time, like 31% of all convicted felons. Yes, 31% get no jail.
The world`s economic system is in chaos. Millions are out of work. Can we talk about something important now? Pot is not.

Now go read up on marijuana and compare the side effects/benefits.
