I was on cymbalta for a number of months - works great for the first 6 weeks or so and then the human body develops a tolerance to it. Furthermore going on it makes you feel like puking, going off it gives you brain zaps. Not fun except for those 6 weeks I mentioned.

So, check out this little tidbit. Americans account for about 4% of the world`s population. Guess how much of the world`s oxycotin we consume. 82-85%. Which, of course, is one of the many types of abuse that contributes to huge national medical costs, debt, etc., etc. :-( So, this Pooh poster isn`t so much sad as it is a wake-up call. Or at least it should be one. here

It`s meh, better than the last one I saw. It was just like this, only even less funny.

I`ve been on like 10 anti-depressants in the past 17 years. They seem to last for 2-3 years then the side-effects pile up. Or they hardly work at all. One made my feet swell up! Another nearly killed me (4 days in the hospital!) before it was yanked off the market.

Kitties are the best medication! Good for what ails ya!

America has too much of a prescription drug culture. Ask me to name drugs and I`d probably get stuck after paracetamol and caffeine...

They don`t need meds in the hundred acre wood...they accept each other the way they are and help each other out all the time. No one is psychotic or dangerous, really.

@5cats, for me its doggies :) Having a pet dog is soothing, encourages exercise and forces me to get out of bed in the morning. Better than ANY pill.

Personally, I think people with depression should just get a grip and man up, rather than stuff themself with expensive drugs.

Personally, I think that people with downs syndrome should get a grip and man up, rather than drooling and pooping themselves all day. See how silly that sounds?

Sorry Pooh, but Sibutrex was taken off the US market in October of 2010-probably better off with lifestyle modification, better dietary control. Maybe Kanga can help him with that-it`s kept Roo on the small side.

For young Mr. Robin, I would recommend Abilify since it has a pediatric application. Clozaril isn`t approved for children. Now when he grows up...

I`m sure anti depression pills are placebos. if not, they should be.

Then you obviously have no education in neurology or biochemistry. It is quite well proven what receptors are affected by anti-depressants. For example, SSRI`s (like Zoloft) bind to the Serotonin Transporter (SERT) to prevent the reuptake of Serotonin. That`s not a placebo. SSRI`s are proven to be considerably more effective than placebo in treatment of depression. Cognitive Therapy is also more effective compared to placebo in treatment of depression, but the highest success rate is with anti-depressants combined with Cognitive Therapy.

So STFU and take a class in neuropsychiatry if you think anti-depressants are placebos before spouting off nonsense. It just makes you sound ignorant and uneducated. Go to college first.

and there`s the problem; people think something is wrong with tigger because he`s energetic and something is wrong with CR because he imagines there is a world his stuffed animals are alive. now MAYBE there is a problem if CR was like 20, but we`re talking about a kid who just started school (age 5), just look at how he spells...

@lukas1051 Just because you haven`t experienced depression, or at least not to an extreme, doesn`t mean it`s not a debilitating condition. I`ve seen people so depressed they literally didn`t have the strength to get out of bed. But doctors just throw antidepressants at everyone. I have been on many and none worked for me. Then I researched my symptoms myself and went to my doctor and told HIM what I had, and I got my lithium and have felt much better since. If I were to "man up" and just deal with my disorder, I would probably be dead or in jail. :->

Atl1en, I`m so sorry, when were you diagnosed with Anencephaly?

Now people, people, please stop bugging lukas1051. Don`t you realize that he is making massive contributions to the field of depression research and the treatment of psychological illness. By going out there on the interweb and posting his posts, depressed people everywhere are able to read them and think; "Damn, perhaps my life isn`t so bad, look at this guy, at least I`m not as clueless as this pair of clown shoes".
