I am not for or against Romney to be honest but I will point something out I didn`t see anyone else mention.

HE was shaking peoples hands. But you`re right because he`s not devoting 5 minutes of his 10 minute handshaking time talking to your untimely question he`s obviously a dick.

Politicians are about publicity and being in front of people (which his campaign manager probably nudged him along). If he talks to you for a few minutes but your long winded ass can`t consolidate what you`re trying to say I`d ignore you too.
And I would see you as a person who would never let go of my attention once you have it. thus his dismissal of the guy.

@Altaru Have a headache? Right now we take Aspirin or Tylenol, and the companies make money. With marijuana, we could grow our headache relief in a closet, and never have to pay them a dime again.

You make that sound like a bad thing. It isn`t like the big Pharma companies would actually go out of business. Plus, they already make billions as it is. I for one would would rather grow my own medicine instead of buying crappy, over-priced pills.

Big Pharma doesn`t make any money off weed. That`s why Romney is against it. Those are his donors. They are in charge. He knows it and will throw muscular dystrophy patients in jail for self medicating.

"He did answer the question."

The question was if he would arrest people like him and his doctors if it were prescribed. He did not answer the question.
first of all, legalization of marijuana, medical or not, would in an odd way stimulate the economy; farmers, packagers, shippers, ad agencies, etc. would experience an increase in available employment opportunities.
Unfortunately, it`s not that simple.

Marijuana, in particular the hemp from the plant, has a LOT of uses. In fact, it`s better at many of the things it does than what we use now.

If we were to legalize it`s growth and use, the hemp from the plant could do a lot of damage to many industries.

Also, marijuana as a pain-killer:

Do you realize how it would completely KILL pharmaceutical companies? Think about it:

Have a headache? Right now we take Aspirin or Tylenol, and the companies make money. With marijuana, we could grow our headache relief in a closet, and never have to pay them a dime again.

I believe that America should legalize marijuana for everyone in every state and start farming and selling it. It will provide jobs, it will take the criminal big bosses out of the game, less non violent people in jail wich is incredible expensive. I can`t personaly see anything bad about that. more money, less criminality wich means it will be easier to pay the national loan
Why is it that everyone gets sick off of synthetic marijuana?
Look at the first word of the name.

See that? "Synthetic?"

Yeah, just like ANY synthetics, our bodies aren`t made to absorb it like we would something natural. Just like any synthetic drug, it has side-effects that can f- you up.

And finally, ANY of those could be countered if you had read. "20 And it pleaseth God that he hath given all these things unto man; for unto this end were they made to be used, with judgment, not to excess, neither by extortion."

When used properly (and sometimes properly means NOT BEING INGESTED INTO ONE`S BODY, but used for some other purpose) damn near every plant on the planet has some use/value. Even the ones that can kill us in one way or another, so long as we use it right.

As for some of the "au natural" drugs like Marijuana and shrooms, so long as one exercises proper caution and doesn`t go to excess, they`re mostly harmless too. Hell, marijuana itself IS harmless. It`s the smoking it that`s dangerous, since smoke of any kind is harmful to your lungs.

That`s why I prefer to eat it. Brownies for the win. Cake`s even better, but I`ve only had cake once...
With that same logic Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, Psilocybin, and many other harmful drugs would be legalized as well.
You are a royal class moron aren`t you?

Cocaine is derived from the plant. In it`s natural form, as in within the Coca leaf, it`s harmless. In fact, it`s beneficial. People in South America drink it in tea or chew the leaves.

Heroin is a synthetic created using morphine, which is a derivative of Opium, which has many, MANY uses besides as a drug. And Morphine itself, as a matter of fact, is okay as long as it isn`t taken in too high doses too frequently.

LSD is synthetically produced. It`s not made in nature, therefor it`s not even one of "god`s" creations.

Psilocybin is a derivative of the drug found in psychedelic mushrooms. It`s not found in the concentrated form naturally.

@Crakr` As it comes out of the ground as Coca leaves, opium, or marijuana, they all have beneficial medical uses. Its once humans start screwing with to make it stronger the problems start. (And shrooms should only be used with care)

He answered the guys quesiton. He`s not in favor or medicinal marijuana. What more do they want.

Of course he`s not going to "arrest them". He`s a governor, not a police officer. Name one governor who ever arrested someone?

that said, no, don`t legalize it for a possible government windfall in the form of excise taxes. legalize it for two simple facts: one, people with chronic illnesses are being helped by it. and two, a whole bunch more are using it recreationally anyway.

oh, and i also believe that heroin should be legalized (and vigorously controlled) for use in pain control of terminally ill cancer patients.

Stop comparing marijuana, mushrooms and lsd with hard drugs.

the past two month I`ve been taking A LOT of marijuana and my friends took a lot of shrooms too
nobody died.

we go to a festival where security is high and no drugs are alowed only beer...two days later I`m in a coma, unable to breath by my self for 3 days and 3 days in coma without help.

they would stop me at any cost for smoking a joint, but couldn`t care less if I ended up in coma for drinking to much....

This is a sick world we live in

Third since you are a Christian and basically disregard Mormonism as invalid. I do believe the reference I gave to Gen 1:29 validates the point. Unless your saying the KJV scripture is wrong.

¶And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Therefore by your argument God is wrong. Discuss with God in the after life about proper usage of herbs.

Invalid argument as the Christian God has ruled you by scripture wrong!

You need to realize that not all things that come from the earth are "Good", most are very bad and deadly, 75% of all plant life is in some way harmful to humans."

I guess that`s why you have to pay attention to the rest of the scripture.
D&C 80: 11
Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.

Hmm..I do believe it said `prudence`.

Second the drugs you mentioned are derivatives of the plant such as cocaine which is part of the Cocoa leaf. However used correctly as medicinal it has benefits same as poppy or ergot fungus. Ditto marijuana as a safer pain killer than oxy

I think using drugs to improve the status of the economy is a bad reason to legalize. They should be legalized simply through those in power being informed about them. The traditional D.A.R.E type poo that is being taught only serves to spread fear and ignorance about drugs. Putting something like weed up there with Heroin and Cocaine isn`t helping either.

Seeing victims of addictive hard drugs (meth, cocaine, and heroin) and casual recreational users just makes me ashamed that I live in the US. There was a video(I think...from wikileaks) of some guy who had less than an ounce of weed get his house raided, and his dog shot in front of his kids. I hope that sometime in the near future that people realize how much harm this drug war is doing.

CaptKangaroo:
"Cocaine,Heroin,LSD and Psilocybin are not natural things"

Psilocybin is most definitely not synthesized. Ever heard of magic mushrooms? You literally grow them with spore prints.

Also, LSD, although synthesized, isn`t as harmful as it`s made out to be. Of course it is a very powerful hallucinogen, but it is not toxic, and in standard measurements, is hard to overdose on.

Healthwise, a lot of drugs do less damage and are less addictive than alcohol. There are dangers, such as having a bad experience(bad trip) or doing something stupid while intoxicated, but other than that, I think a lot of the prohibition is an artifact of the Nixon era and how drugs came to be associated with "fight the man" type mentality.

It should be legalized because there is no good reason that it isn`t.

No, those things are synthesized, not natural. But if you want to chew on a coca leaf, go ahead, it won`t really hurt you.

But that is typical to take something simple like "legalize harmless substance" and take it to a rediculous extreme. I know `cause I do that all the time. :)

On a side note, I would legalize things. If they want to be an idiot, go ahead and let them overdose. We`re better off without them.

CrackrJack:Cocaine,Heroin,LSD and Psilocybin are not natural things-they are synthesized products-albeit from things that occur in nature. So,your analogy is a little off there.I sincerely doubt that 75% of plant life is in some way harmful to humans. While I do not condone how California has instituted their medical marijuana program, marijuana has legitimate medical uses. And frankly the government,be it local, state or federal, has more important things to work on besides weather sick people find some relief with marijuana.

Loaded question.

He answered that he doesn`t support medicinal marijuana.
Thus it can be inferred that that kid and his doctor would go to jail. I`d take a stab and guess that he would feel guilty that a guy in a wheelchair would get a fine or whatever punishment it is, but he made his stance clear and was polite about. He had nothing nice to say afterwards, so he walked away.

Why is it that everyone gets sick off of synthetic marijuana?

17 Yea, and the herb, and the good things which come of the earth, whether for food or for raiment, or for houses, or for barns, or for orchards, or for gardens, or for vineyards;

18 Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart;

Hmmm.. I guess as a Mormon he needs to read his Doctrine and Covenants again. from their Prophet J. Smith

D&C 89: 10,11

10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—

11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.

How is this a "gotcha!"? Romney made his stance perfectly clear, and with any luck, someone who`s reminded he was of this opinion four years ago might be able to ask him this question again in the upcoming months. That said, Romney knew full well he`d have to meet people like this when he decided against medical marijuana, just like he knew he`d have to meet with outraged pharmaceutical corporate`s if he was for medical marijuana.

The question wasn`t "How many women have you finger banged in your life?" it was something he knew he had the answer for, something he had to put a lot of thought into, and something he was willing to go on the record about.
